The Beginning

One Does Not Simply Babysit

I forgot to that I wrote this in December. So yeah, just pretend it's Christmas time .__.

You stood in front of the snow white door adorned by a Christmas wreath, taking a deep breath before ringing the door bell. Today was the day you would babysit the Kim kids, Eli and AJ. You needed the money since you were failing your history class. Badly. And your parents decided to cut your allowance to barely nothing until you bring your grades up.

The thing is, that guitar at the music store downtown isn't going to wait for you forever. You tucked your cold hands back in your sweats as you stepped back, shivering slightly, waiting for the door to open.

It did the second you decided to dance to the upbeat music coming out of your red headphones.

You immediately stopped and hung the headphones around your neck, the color almost matching your cheeks as you bowed down out of embarrassment and respect, politely greeting whoever opened the door (and ruined your mental party time).

A very pretty lady with long, dark brown hair and was covered in warm clothing stood in front of you. You let out a small smile and the young-looking woman pulled you in.

"You must be freezing! Come in, wait, let me close the door. Anyways, thank you for coming! I'm Mrs. Kim, nice to meet you!" you just stood there as you let the overly enthusiastic Mrs. Kim shake your hand.

        "N-Nice to meet you too."

"I've been really busy nowadays, you know, with all the Christmas shopping and whatnot. It's so hard to find the lowest prices for the toys the kids want. And then there's those tea cups for Mrs. Kim- ah, that's my husband's mom, by the way -and some sweaters for the cousins..." you just let her ramble on as you both still stood a foot away from the door, nodding your head every once in a while. "... and let's not forget about those Christmas cards that I still have to drop off. Oh dear, I'm boring you aren't I? Let me show you around a little bit. If there's any emergency, you can call any number on the fridge. Mine's the first one 'cause, you know haha, I'm the mom"

And away you walked, following Mrs. Kim all over the house, asking questions every now and then.

*

You stood in front of four kids, all looking up and staring at you with their big eyes. (Except for that one kid over there.) Mrs. Kim left a few minutes ago to finish her Christmas shopping, leaving you with her two sons.

What you didn't know was that their friends had come over to play, which Mrs. Kim informed you a bit too late in your opinion.

"Well guys," you said as you broke the loud silence. "Do whatever you want. Imma just sit here and watch some TV. Go play over there, okay?"

        And then the world exploded.

        "I want cookies!"

        "Tell me a story!"

"Ouch! AJ, let go of my hair!"

        "Hey! Play with us!"

        "I still want cookies!"

That was all you heard the minute your landed on the black leather couch. You heaved a long sigh as you massaged your temples. Today was going to be hard.

"Okay, okay, okay, okay! First off, you, AJ! Let go of his hair. I'll tell you guys a story while we eat cookies, then we can play. Got it?"

        "Yes!"

"Let's introduce ourselves first. You!" you pointed to a girly looking kid (yeah, yeah, it's not nice to point, but your the boss here). "What's your name?"

"I'm Kevin! I'm five! I like to sing and dance! I like kimchi! I like E-"

"Thanks, Kevin! Moving on," you looked at the other unexpected kid. "And you are?"

"Hi! I'm Alexander. I like your hair!" Didn't see that coming.

"Oh, thanks, Alexander. Now why don't we go over to the kitchen and get ourselves some cookies?"

*

You stood in front of Eli and AJ's shared bedroom. The door was covered in various stickers and had pictures of them, some with their parents, some with their relatives (the words 'cousins' were written on the photo), and some with their friends. But one picture stood out the most. It wasn't a sad or touching or even a make-you-smile-like-crazy picture. Nope. It was a picture of Eli and another kid at the park down the road.

"Who's that, Eli?" you asked, pointing (once again) to the girl hugging Eli. "She's cute."

        "That's me!"

        Who?

"But you said 'she', and I'm a he," Kevin pouted. "But you called me cute!"

You now have a newfound respect towards the kid. Not everybody can pull of cowboy boots with a flower print summer dress topped with some sort of fedora. Yes, dress. The same dress you saw at the mall that you wanted for your giant teddy bear.

"Auntie visited us and saw Kevin," Eli said, as if it explained everything. Okay, maybe it did.

"Come on, let's go in," AJ opened the door. "We're wasting time when we can be building our tower."

"Oh, you're right!" Eli went after his brother. Before you and the others followed, you patted Kevin on the head. The latter gave you a confused look, but immediately smiled. And you smiled back.

These kids are making you bipolar. Maybe babysitting isn't so hard?

You started to help the brothers with their tower (even though they said you were doing it wrong) while Kevin and Alexander were on a different side of the room. Before you know it, Eli and AJ were having some sort of war, throwing the Legos at each other and screaming things like 'ten points for me!' and 'super duper yellow Lego blaster power!'

        "Guys, guys! No throwing stuff!"

"Yeah! You can seriously hurt someone!"

You looked down to see Alexander (who was wearing a pink bow, that wasn't there before, on his curly hair) standing beside you, giving the Kim brothers some kind of look. You braced yourself to hear the usual 'why should we listen to you' retaliation.

"Then why don't you guys go somewhere else?" Eli suggested innocently.

"Yeah! That way no one will get hurt." AJ agreed.

"What about yourselves?" You asked. "Eli, what if you hurt AJ? AJ, what if you hurt Eli?"

They both glanced at each other. "Nah, we'll be okay."

        Ugh. What now?

Ugh. Seriously, what now? This is so... I don't know the word for it.

Ugly? IDEK. Anyways, tomorrow's Monday. Yay. Less time to update.

Oh, and you'll be seeing more 'You stood in front of's in the future.
