Monarchy and dynasties existed and were in use since the beginning of EXO Planet. Daehan Jeguk, which is the name of the Great Planet Empire, is a big empire that rules over every dynasty. It is the highest in position out of all the dynasties, and the emperor and empress of Daehan Jeguk are very highly respected by the whole planet. Daehan Jeguk is the largest out of all the dynasties, and is separated from all the dynasties by the ocean. There is a tradition amongst the dynasties and the empire regarding arranged marriages. On the 60th birthday of Daehan Jeguk's emperor, crown princes from all of EXO Planet's dynasties are to gather at the imperial palace. During this time, he will hand pick seven crown princesses for his eldest son to choose to wed. The seven princesses stay in the imperial palace for a number of four months so that the crown prince has plenty of time to make a decision. However, because of recent events, the gender roles are switched. Emperor Sooman of Daehan Jeguk has only one child, crown princess Park Soo Yeon, to call his own. His empress passed away during child birth, and his two sons had passed away from rare illnesses. It is that time of year in which the emperor is to prepare to select seven candidates for his child, and the news had spread like wildfire. There were ceremonies and festivals welcoming the chosen seven; it was something all of EXO Planet celebrated.

This year's selection goes normally as planned, except for the change in gender roles, of course. This story focuses on the actions of Kim Junmyeon, otherwise known as Suho, that disrupt the tradition. Suho has been in love with the crown princess since they have become friends as children. The problem? He's not a crown prince. In fact, he's just a peasant. He lives by himself in a makeshift shack near the outskirts of the empire. Past events have led to him being far away from the imperial palace, unable to get in contact with the crown princess at all. They have not seen or talked to each other in years; he has no idea if she remembers him, or still loves him. Once he hears of the selection, he decides to disguise himself and pretend to be a crown prince from a far off dynasty that no one has ever heard of. That way, he can easily become a part of the selection and possibly be chosen as a candidate; he would be able to reunite with Soo Yeon and live happily ever after. However, it doesn't seem as easy as Suho had thought out to be . .
