Chapter 4
VigilantThe first week passed by and Hyesung lived without more surprises in the middle of the night. Eric frowned when he saw the scratches and asked what the heck he’d been doing, but Hyesung had used the same excuse he’d told Andy. Eric, naïve as he was, had swallowed it without any questions. Or at least Hyesung hoped so.
It proved to be hard to constantly keep an eye over the other one without Eric noticing. Hyesung knew he must never let the other person know about him being their guardian angel. It would create chaos. Eric could take advantage of it, he could alter his destiny, avoid situations that were already decided for him and screw up Hyesung’s life in general. Not even his grandfather had told his wife about him protecting her all her life.
Hyesung had kind of gotten a bit used to the thought of having to watch over Eric for only six months, though. They didn’t get along that much, and Eric’s short lifespan was his destiny. What could Hyesung do about it?

“I’m just trying to be nice, keep quiet,” Eric scolded, but Hyesung saw him smile. “You must take care of your fatal wounds!”
Hyesung chose to ignore his teasing. “You said you’ve gotten these kind of scratches,” he hesitantly said. “How? When?”
Eric shrugged and grabbed Hyesung’s other hand after finishing the first. “I’m not sure. I’ve just ended up with them. I have bad luck sometimes, but I haven’t been that unlucky since I got here,” the older one confessed, eyes focused on the younger one’s hands. He finished applying the cream, let go of the hand and grinned. “This place must be my lucky charm I guess!”
Hyesung nodded silently, carefully massaging his hands and trying not to look too suspicious.
“Let’s have dinner together with the others today,” Eric said suddenly, rising from the bed. He truly knew the art of
