First. That was what Xiumin came in the singing contest where SM scouted him. He came first. Out of hundreds, thousands of people. But what did he get? The title of lead vocalist. The shared title of lead vocalist. There are only six people in EXO-M and he still needed to share his position. There are only six people and he couldn’t even get a position he could call his own. Lead vocalist may sound like the best position, but it isn’t really. The MAIN vocalists get most of the lines and then it’s the lead vocalists. And since Xiumin was sharing the lead vocalist role, he was getting even less lines.

Xiumin never once complained during all the training years. Complaining didn’t even cross his mind. Ever. He just did what made him happy and tried to fulfil his dreams and potential. Every day he would sing his heart out during vocal lessons and dance his soul out during dance lessons. He would look after all the members, whether they were in K or M. Xiumin would help out his dongsaengs with anything and everything. He was the perfect caring brother. But what he did for himself and for everyone went unnoticed. Sure his dongsaengs loved him a lot and were grateful for his help, but that was all. No one awarded Xiumin anything for his troubles and hard work.

When the authorities came looking for dancers to be put into the new dance unit, they didn’t even consider Xiumin, despite the fact that Xiumin was one of the best dancers in EXO. He wasn’t labelled the main or lead dancer so SM never even looked at him for anything related to dancing. Kai and Luhan were picked for the unit. Xiumin was very happy for his dongsaengs, he could never be jealous or envious of anyone. He wasn’t like that. But he felt deflated. He wanted so much to prove to the world his dancing abilities, but the chance wasn’t ever offered to him. However he hoped for the next time, that maybe next time he would be able to shine. The next time rolled around, SM wanted a special group for a performance on a show. But was Xiumin given the chance? Not at all. He got passed again. This time he tried to fight for it.
