Introduction

The interesting thing is that they really are just friends. She’s seen other celebrities lie about their relationship to divert the media, but when Seung-hyun’s giving an interview and he’s jokingly asked (again) and laughs then tells them (again) that they’re just friends, it’s actually the truth. Even when she’s holding his hand for a little too long, or leaning on his shoulder because it’s the perfect combination of sturdy and warm, or playing with his hair because it’s soft, pretty, and she loves the contrast of the faux platinum blonde and her caramel skin tone, it doesn’t mean anything, they’re just friends---actually they’re best friends.

She remembers meeting him when he was 18, awkward and chubby on a mission to drop as many pounds as possible to get a record deal. She was still working as an aerobics instructor then, trying to get by with her minimum wage paycheck and the little bit her parents could contribute. She didn’t get it then, she kind of thought he was a little silly, but she admired his dedication. It didn’t take long for her to start looking out for him, for her to linger by the glass window to watch him walk in as she was starting up class and then wave goodbye when she was leaving for the day.

She doesn’t recall just how they formed such a strong bond, but she’ll never forget the best moments. She’ll never forget seeing the pounds fall off him, the way he transformed from a chubby kid to a man. Or the day he ran into her room with joy, bursting through the glass door and interrupting her class without a care as he lifted her up in the air announcing he was chosen. She remembers thinking it would be the last time she saw him, he was on his way to be an idol and she trapped in a local gym, the two worlds don’t really mash up that well. But he never let it happen, never forgot to do little things like text, or call whenever he had a few moments to himself, and now she’s his assistant. He pulled her into his world, and even as she rolls her eyes listening to another reporter ask about their friendship, she smiles as he denies the proposed relationship.
