5 years later

“What do you want to do tomorrow?”

Tae Ri and Yong Guk were cuddling on the couch watching T.V. Tae Ri, who was sitting in Yong Guk’s lap with her head resting on his shoulder, thought about Yong Guk’s question before saying,

“I guess we could eat the cake that’s in the freezer. I mean what do people usually do for their first anniversary?”

Yong Guk and Tae Ri stopped and looked at each and yelled,

“Presents!”

at the same time. Tae Ri started laughing when Yong Guk started to tickle her.

“I got your present already. I bet you’ll love it.”

Said when Yong Guk had stopped tickling Tae Ri. Tae Ri sighed with relief now that she could breathe again.

“I got your present too. I’m so excited to give it to you. Can I just give it to you now?”

Tae Ri stood up and started bouncing excitedly, waiting for approval. Yong Guk chuckled and said that she could. Tae Ri bolted to her purse, pulled out a single envelope and raced back to the laughing Yong Guk. She straddled his lap, so she could face him completely and handed him the present. Yong Guk laughed and said jokingly,

“A card? That’s it?”

Tae Ri made a pretend pouty face and Yong Guk started to open the envelope. Tae Ri wiggled with excitement as Yong Guk read the front of the card out loud.

“To the New Dad,”

Yong Guk looked up and Tae Ri and she practically yelled at him to open it. When Yong Guk opened the card, both the Tae Ri on his lap and the recorded Tae Ri voice from the card said,

“I’m pregnant! Happy first wedding anniversary!”

Yong Guk smiled so wide his face started to hurt. He looked up from the card to his wife holding a tiny black and white picture.

“This is a picture of our baby.”

Yong Guk started to cry and pulled Tae Ri into a tight embrace and whispered through his tears,

“Thank you. I couldn’t ask for a better present.”

Tae Ri leaned back and kissed Yong Guk’s tear stained face and said,

“Baby and I are hungry. Please make us some ramen.”
