Prologue: As we know it

Living in Seoul, South Korea is one of the wisest decisions a person could ever take. Being hailed as the safest and most peaceful city in the whole world, Seoul has been an ideal place for settling down, business, vacation and whatever that enters your mind.

 Actually, this city, like every city in the world is as dangerous as anyone could imagine. Drugs, crime lords, loan sharks, human trafficking, ion, you name it, Seoul has it. Seoul has become so dangerous that it’s never wise to walk around the streets beyond 11PM, alone or with company.

People in Seoul have long accepted that the city will never be safe again. The Seoul Police has long been deemed powerless when it comes to crimes. In fact, the police have been viewed as a mere puppet of the bigger crime syndicates that occupies high positions in the government. Speaking of the government, the government of Seoul has long been tarnished with the prints of mafia, yakuza and drug lords. Seoul government is nothing but a front act for foreigners. To present a democratic well organized Seoul government to the rest of the world but in reality, Seoul government is just a decoration, another money source for the mafia, yakuza and drug lords who held positions and controls the whole Seoul government.

Some people have accepted that Seoul is a hopeless case. That Seoul will never be peaceful again, that Seoul is bound for eternal doom and that Seoul is beyond help. Yes, it was the case until four mysterious ladies appeared and took matters in their own hands.

These four mysterious ladies took the attention of the world when they started “cleaning up” the city. Crime lords, mafia, yakuza, drug lords and even mere petty gangs were brought in the open and executed in the ways that are not found in any law books.

It started on the night of September 21. Crime lords that held positions in the government were found iced like statues in front of the city hall. Their faces reflected fear and terror, never before seen on people like them. On the ports where warehouses of such powerful groups were located, all warehouses were burned down to the ground. Not even the fire department was able to put out or even control the fire and in the mere span of 2 hours, everything turned into ashes. On the secluded area of Seoul a number of hurricanes suddenly “attacked” 15 different specific houses and destroyed it. And lastly, on the wee hours of dawn, where ordinary citizens has long slept on their respective houses, the water in the different alleyways and shady establishments of the city rose up so fast it seemed that a violent storm has come. However, the water never went inside nor touched the houses or establishments of ordinary citizens.

On the morning of 22^nd, the dead bodies and destructions of the previous night’s events were dumped in the middle of a park that is owned by crime lords and a note was left for the people of Seoul.

“We have cleaned up the city of Seoul on some of the biggest threats of the city. It is up to the citizens of this city to bring back the peaceful city we once knew.”

On the following months, four ladies showed up in times of needs. Floods, fires, accidents and other dire catastrophe were prevented because of them. Seoul is saved. The four mysterious ladies or 21 or 2ne1 as the people like to call them, has encouraged the citizen of Seoul to reclaim their stand in the government and society against the crime lords that still persists to get back what they used to have.

Though their identities were never known except for their hair colors, the public has made nicknames for the ladies. The lady with wild tresses of blond that can calm down a storm and hurricanes in a second is fondly called the Wind Mistress, while the lady with the fiery red hair that is known for her sudden temper and talent to command fire has been dubbed the Fire Empress. Also known for her purple locks of hair in the group the Water Goddess as she’s called because of her ability to control anything that is water or liquid. The last member of the group has the least number of fans among them. Due to her rare public “appearances”, the brown haired lady that directs ice, the Ice Countess is the most mysterious among the four. Nevertheless, these four ladies are loved and revered by the citizens. After overcoming the fact that they’re not ordinary humans, the citizens respected them and grateful for their doings.

For two good years, 2ne1 assisted Seoul. Two years of peaceful life. Things are slowly coming back to normal, 2ne1’s presence is still evident in the city but the citizen made efforts to not entirely depend on them. All is well in Seoul.

Until a grave scandal broke out and caused the destruction of the people’s trust on 2ne1. The four ladies never defended nor explained their side of the scandal and continued to help Seoul like always, but things were not the same as before. The people they helped shunned them and pleaded for them to be punished. Petitions, rallies and hunger strikes for 2ne1’s punishment were performed all over Seoul.

The rallies and strikes soon stopped and it was a month later before the citizen of Seoul realized the big hole that 2ne1 has left.
