Blindness

listen to this if you want to: (X)

You were laying on your bed with a cheesy smile on your face and staring at the piece of paper in front of your eyes. You couldn’t remember the last time you were this happy, even though your mom wasn’t home again and it was Saturday. Still, you felt relaxed and cozy. The day was beautiful; the sun was shining gently and covered your bed with white beams.

You stared at the drawing Chanyeol drew for you.

It was a drawing of a little seal. You were still shocked how could he draw it so nice and with so many details. He had to have a very good memory to be able to draw it after so many years, without a picture in front of his eyes.

But it wasn’t really the main reason of your happiness; after a few days, you discovered that he wrote something on the back of the paper. Well, you knew that it was probably Kyungsoo who wrote it, but Chanyeol was the one who told him what to write.

On the paper a number was written. And under this number, a few simple words appeared.

Call me anytime you get lonely.

How could you not see it? You wanted to smack yourself. You pulled out your phone and slowly dialed his number. You clicked on the green button and pulled it up to your ear, waiting for him to pick up. You hoped that he will hear it and that it wasn’t too early to call him. You knew that he was a heavy sleeper – he told you himself – but you couldn’t wait any longer. Three signals passed. When the fourth sounded in your ear, you heard Chanyeol’s hoarse and deeper than ever, sleepy voice that made your stomach tangle and shrink.

You loved his voice so much and you wanted to enjoy its echo through the cell phone, so you forgot about talking.

“Hello?” Chanyeol repeated. “Who is it?” He yawned and something beside him rustled.

“Good morning,” you finally spoke, slowly, quietly, without any rush; in that moment, you felt as the time stopped for you two. You knew that he’s on the other side and hoped that he felt the same thing. You could imagine his surprised expression slowly transforming into a smile on his beautiful face. Your imagination also offered you the sight of him in the bed, without his shirt on, with ruffled hair all over his face and sleepy eyes. It made you blush suddenly. Your heart skipped a beat.

“Morning,” he spoke quietly, chuckling lightly.

~*~

“How was your weekend?” You asked in the moment you entered the art class. Chanyeol turned at your voice and smiled. It made your heart clench. It was a nice pain though.

“Good,” Chanyeol answered simply. “Mostly because we were able to talk. I always missed you on weekends,” he admitted shyly. You blushed and he turned to the canvas again.

During school hours, you couldn’t see him a lot. You were in completely different classes. You were seeing each other on lunches though – you were sitting by the same table together with Ji Eun, Kyungsoo, and sometimes other Chanyeol’s friends. You discovered that he had really nice friends. They were similar to you – people judged them by their look right away. Most of the girls were hitting on them, that was the reason why they never really looked for girlfriends.

It was nice to be with him all this time and see how he interacted with other people. You discovered how open and funny he is, how outgoing he can be and how caring he is towards his friends. It was one of the most valuable moments you could see. You knew that he was a good person – not just to you, but for everyone. That made you feel secure.

Chanyeol was really something. He didn’t care that he was blind. The world was the same for him. He was sometimes spacing out and when you asked him, what is he thinking about, he was saying that he’s listening. In the complete silence, he was sometimes catching the sounds inaudible for you. His touch was very sensitive. He could guess any material and always pulled the right things from his bags, because he knew how they felt like.

Hours you could spend with him, in the art class, were priceless and passed so fast; you wanted to be with him more. Talk to him more. About music, movies, people, about each other. It was so easy, so simple. When you were with him, everything seemed right and on its place. Even though he was blind, you felt secure while being with him.

“Your mom didn’t come back for weekend?” Chanyeol asked with a hint of sadness in his voice. You shook your head and smiled shyly.

“Nope,” you answered. You became comfortable talking with him about this topic.

“How come she’s always working? Does she even sleep?” Chanyeol asked, sighing. He put away his brush and turned to you, but his eyes stared somewhere in the air. Sometimes, it scared you. And pained. That he couldn’t see you or anything else. You wanted him to look straight at you. He did it most of the time, but he could never see you.

“She sleeps in a motel in front of the hospital,” you answered. “Our home is too far away.”

“You know,” the boy said, straightening his back. “I thought…” He paused and wondered about something. You waited patiently and hummed at him with curiosity.

“If she can’t come home, why don’t you visit her?” He asked slowly and quite silently. You blinked a few times and pulled your leg up, because you were sitting on a desk. Now your head was leaning on your knee, when the other leg dangled in the air.

“I didn’t think about it,” you whispered. “I don’t even know where she works exactly. I mean… I don’t know the floor, or who should I ask.”

“I’m sure that she misses you,” Chanyeol stated quietly. “And she probably feels guilty because she can’t be with you all the time. You should visit her.”

“You think… so?” You whispered. Chanyeol nodded energetically and you laughed at him.

“Will you?” He asked.

You wondered for a few seconds, but your mom’s face appeared in your mind right away and you just wanted to see her already and talk to her.

“Yeah,” you said, smiling.

~*~

“Chanyeol…” You groaned, shuffling on your feet. You heard his sigh and a laugh.

“Just go inside,” he said. “Ask about her and it will be alright. Did you bring the food?”

“Yeah.”

“Then just go in and tell her that you want to eat together! Geez!” He laughed on the other side and rolled on the bed. You could hear the covers rustling.

“Yeah,” you said, nodding. “I will.”

“Then go. Good luck, Raejin-ah,” he said quietly.

“Thank you,” you answered simply, your heart skipping a beat because of his voice and your own emotions and nervousness.

You entered the hospital and went to the reception. You leaned on the counter and waited for someone to show up. A nurse came out and nodded at you.

“How can I help you?” She asked. She seemed bored and sleepy.

“Um… I’m looking for someone,” you said. “A doctor…”

“Name?”

You said the name and she asked why you want to see her.

“I’m her daughter,” you answered shyly. The nurse looked at you with wide eyes and blinked.

“Really? Raejin, right?” The nurse asked and you nodded, surprised. “Your mom tells us a lot about you! I didn’t know that you are so pretty.”

You only chuckled nervously and flipped your fringe away from your forehead.

“She’s on the fourth floor, room 542,” the nurse said, smiling.

“Thank you,” you bowed lightly and went to the elevator. Your heart was beating rapidly.

When you got to the fourth floor, you had to pass a few corridors and a lot of patients. Some of them were wearing white pajamas, the other ones waited in the queue to visit doctors or have their body’s surveys.

You passed a lot of doors and finally got to a long, almost white and incredibly cozy – for a hospital – corridor with big rooms for patients on the right and nurse’s and doctor’s rooms on the left. You passed an old man who smiled at you and two women sitting on a bench and chatting, when you finally found the room 542. You took a deep breath and squeezed the lunch box tightly.

You knocked on the door and heard a man’s voice that allowed you to enter. You opened them and peeked at the room. You saw a big desk, a lot of shelves with books all over, a single bed and a curtain beside the window. There was a man beside this curtain, who leaned out to look at you. He was in his mid-forties, had a light beard and big eyes. He was quite handsome.

“Hello,” you bowed. “Um… I was told that I will find-“

“Raejin?” A voice beside you spoke and you turned to see your mom standing on the corridor.

Your heart jumped and you felt a smile creeping on your face. Your mom was beautiful as always, and she smiled at you widely, small tears in her eyes.

“It really is you!” She said, taking a few steps closer and throwing her arms at your shoulders. You hugged her tightly, feeling her familiar touch and scent.

“Hi mom,” you said, smiling widely. When she pulled away, you still couldn’t stop smiling.

“I can’t believe that you’re here! I’m so happy to see you!”  Your mom said, ruffling your hair and patting your head.

The man in the room turned out to be her colleague. When you asked about eating together, she said that she has to do one more operation, but you said that you will wait. You already visited her – you could wait this hour or two.

You sat on the bench beside the operation room and waited. It was quiet and peaceful. After half an hour, Chanyeol called you – thanks to the fact that he was talking to you lastly, he could pick your number without even looking, just by clicking on the green button two times.

“How is it?” He asked.

“I’m still waiting for her,” you answered.

“But have you seen her?”
“Yeah, I have.”

“Good then. See, there was nothing to be scared of,” he said and you could see him smiling. You nodded sheepishly and blushed. For you, his voice was one of the best things in this world.

“Raejin.”

“Yeah?”

“Let’s go somewhere this weekend,” he said. Your stomach tangled.

“Okay,” you answered, chuckling.

You waited for your mom to come out for another hour, but it passed quickly as you talked with Chanyeol. And when you saw her, you realized how much you have to tell her.

When she heard about you being in love, she started fangirling and asking ten questions at once. You tried to explain it to her, but it wasn’t easy when it comes to your mom; so you just said it as simple as you could.

“I love him for everything”.

And your mom laughed and patted your head, happy for you. She wanted to know every detail about him and how he looked. You also promised that you will take a photo of him and show it to her as quickly as you could.

But in the end, just this one detail remained unspoken and you knew that you have to tell her.

“Mom,” you started, when she was eating sandwich you prepared. You tangled your fingers around the cup with tea you got in the hospital’s cafeteria. She looked at you sharply, hearing your insecure voice.

“What, honey?” She asked.

“There’s one thing you have to know about him,” you said, looking at your hands. She frowned. “Chanyeol is… blind,” you choked out.

Silence filled the air between you.

It was tense and you were scared. You were imagining what she can say in a second and waited for any words to be spoken. With every second, you became more and more unsure and scared. What if she tells you not to meet him anymore? It’s not a bad thing to be blind. But…
Your mom sighed suddenly and you looked up at her. She smiled at you lightly.

“But you love him, even if he’s blind. Right?” She asked.

“Yes.”

“You feel secure with him.”

You nodded.

“He’ makes you happy…”

“Just by looking at him, I get happier.”

“And he’s a kind person?”

“He’s kind to everyone. But especially…”

She nodded, chuckling lightly.

“Oh, Raejin…” she whispered and looked straight into your eyes. “We don’t choose the people we fall in love with. If your love will last for a long time, then you’ll be sure of your feelings. If you’re thinking of the future with him, you have to be ready for many sacrifices. You will have to take care of him and be there for him. Right now maybe you can’t see it, but being blind is something that makes you weak and unable to life properly in some aspects. That’s why you have to wait and make a good decision."

You nodded simply.

“I know,” you said. But he is the one, you thought at the same time.

“I’m very happy for you,” your mom said. “I would like to meet him.”

You smiled and looked down shyly.

~*~

You burst out laughing when Chanyeol told you one of his cheesy jokes. You clapped your hands and he laughed together with you, trying to paint in the same time. He gave up and his eyes got teary. You were already crying.

“Where do you get all those jokes even?” You asked in disbelief.

“Chen. And Kyungsoo,” Chanyeol snorted. Their faces appeared in front of your eyes and you snorted. This sound quickly transformed into another laugh.

“They’re the best,” you said, getting rid of a tear on your cheek.

“Ehh? What about me then?” Chanyeol pouted, grabbing his brush again.

“You are the bestest,” you said, nodding with seriousness.

“It’s not even a word,” the boy said, chuckling.

“Because you can’t be described with words!” You answered, smiling.

“And that was a compliment!” He said with approval, making you giggle again. There was a pause between you and you went to see what he is painting. You frowned and your heart clenched with emotion. You smiled, seeing two figures on the canvas. They were melting together. One of them was a woman, and the other was a girl. You could see their faces with closed eyes and flowing hair. Their dresses melted together with colours.

“I thought about it when you visited your mom,” Chanyeol said. “I don’t know how it looks. It’s… probably the first painting that… I can’t imagine well.”

You looked at it with amazement. You got moved and a tear showed in your eye. Even though their eyes were ragged and the colours were dark in some places, the whole painting looked as it was painted with a beautiful technique.

“It’s amazing,” you said with broken voice and touched his shoulder, squeezing it lightly with gratefulness. He smiled when you did so.

“I’m glad that you like it,” he said.

“Can you… can you give it to me?” You whispered. You knew that he didn’t show his paintings to anyone besides you. And of course, he never gave them to anyone. Except for the seal he drew for you.

But Chanyeol agreed without hesitation.

“Can I show it to my mom?” You asked, turning to look at him. Chanyeol blushed suddenly. It was such a rare sight that you blushed yourself and quickly tore your stare away.

“Um… You know, I would like to…” you mumbled. You didn’t even know what you wanted to say.

“You can,” Chanyeol said, exhaling. “Yeah. You can.”

“Really?”

“Sure.”

You smiled and felt your heart melt.

“I have one more request,” you said, walking to your bag and pulling out your cell phone.

The sun was shining beautifully and making Chanyeol’s hair look gold. He turned at you in the moment you your camera in the phone and took a photo of him.

“What is it?” He asked, frowning. You took another photo.

“Nothing,” you said, pleased. Chanyeol chuckled.

“What? Tell me. What did you do?” He asked, stretching out his hand to catch you, but you spun on your foot and got away.

“No way,” you teased. You laughed and snickered for a few seconds, and then your phone buzzed.

“Ah, it’s Ji Eun,” you said. “Hello?”

She told you to meet with her right away; she was hyper and excited, but didn’t say why. You just agreed.

“I will get going,” you said, putting your phone to your bag.

“Already?!” Chanyeol pouted, surprised. You hummed.

“Let’s eat lunch together,” you said.

Chanyeol thought about the proposition for a few seconds, as he was thinking if he should be mad at you or not. Finally, he sighed.

“Okay,” he said, smiling at you. You beamed and your heart fluttered.

“Okay. Bye,” you said.

“Bye, bye,” Chanyeol waved at you and you took your bag and went to the doors. You turned to see his back and remembered the day when you met him. A wave of good memories washed into you.

You wanted to stay with him longer. You wanted to thank him for his help. Without him, you wouldn’t visit your mom in the hospital.
You spun on your foot and your mind turned off for the next thirty seconds. Chanyeol heard your footsteps and turned lightly.

“Did you forget some-“

He was cut off with a gentle kiss you planted on his cheek. You quickly pulled away, leaving him breathless and with red cheeks. You blushed. The touch of his skin was still on your lips.

You dashed out of the classroom, thinking in disbelief about the thing you just did. But when you were exiting the school, you started laughing like a little girl and covering your mouth because your smile was too wide not to look weird.

Thousands of butterflies were fluttering in your stomach, your heart was squeezing and this feeling was so sweet and so right.

~*~

When you met Chanyeol the next day in the cafeteria, you couldn’t think straight. You wanted to hug him right there. It was hard for you not to think about how great it is to hug him and to have him close. You just hoped that he was feeling the same.

You hoped that he like you back.

You quickly said ‘hi’ and sat down. You were eating with quite a big group of his friends and everybody were talking and laughing. You enjoyed yourself as well. Chanyeol’s voice was piercing through everybody else’s voices every time he spoke. He felt good in that group and you quickly grew closer with everybody. Chen was telling his jokes and he was such a troll. Kyungsoo was caring and funny, very clumsy at times. They also met Jongin, very straightforward and confident boy who was quite a Casanova and Lay – the last boy was sweet and kind. Music and dancing was his passion. You found him comfortable to talk with and you had a lot of things in common.

You hit Chanyeol’s hand under the table and again, this weird electricity ran down your body. You pulled it away habitually, but the boy caught it in the last moment and slowly, delicately tangled his fingers with yours. You both got silent. He placed your hands on his knee.

Your stomach was tangling too much for you to be able to eat. You stiffened and blushed, while Chanyeol was sitting with a wide smile on his face. No one really noticed that. You got comfortable after a minute and focused on his touch.

You smiled and squeezed his hand. He squeezed yours back.

~*~

You got to the fountain and saw Chanyeol right away. It wasn’t hard really. He was too tall to be missed in the crowd.

You thought that Kyungsoo helped him to get here before you and smiled. You went over to him and he heard your footsteps. You were still shocked how he could recognize everybody’s way of walking.

“Hello,” you said. Chanyeol smiled.

"Hello,” he answered.

“Where are we going?” You asked.

“I didn’t really plan anything,” he answered simply. “I want to drop by the bakery and the river. I want to show you something beautiful,” he said.

It was weird to talk to him outside. He was trying to look at you. Sometimes, he pretended to look around. It was more like a habit to him, you thought. Sometimes you were forgetting that he’s blind.

“By the way,” he said suddenly, beaming at you. His voice got deeper again and you almost shivered. “I liked the kiss."

You blushed furiously and forgot about his deep voice right away. You slapped his arm lightly and he laughed.

“Don’t-“ you started, but he caught your hand and essentially stopped you from talking.

“You have to lead me today,” he said, leaning closer to you and putting his forehead on your head. You felt warmth all over your body. He somehow hugged to your head just like that and you could feel his weight on you.

“Okay,” you simply said, tangling your fingers together. It felt so good, having him so close and walk together.

You leaded him and described everything around you. Every house and every shop. He was adding something from himself from time to time. You went to the bakery and ate sweet cherry and strawberry buns. You talked about music and about your friends. You started telling him everything about your primary school and he also was describing his days when he could still see everything.

He was getting sad from time to time. He had a cousin who was fifteen years old now. He couldn’t see him growing up. He also couldn’t watch the sunsets or the sea, and he loved it the most. He was really sad that he can’t run already. When he runs, he always thinks that he will hit something or someone and it stops him.

He couldn’t do a lot of things, you realized. His movements were chaotic from time to time. And every time it happened, your throat clenched and you felt so pathetic and so bad, looking at him. He was clumsy. He couldn’t find a lot of things. He had to touch everything to know where to sit. You noticed it in school already, but it was weird for him to eat sometimes. He couldn’t catch every food and he couldn’t touch it with his fingers too.

It was hard for you to look at it. You wanted him to be happy. And to be normal.

But in the time most of the people would be ashamed of having someone like that besides them, you felt happy and glad that he’s with you. You wanted to stare at him and listen to his voice. The sight wasn’t the most important thing. Feelings were much more important.
But seeing him out, walking and eating, and seeing him sitting all day in one place was completely different.

How weird, you thought.

~*~

“Let’s go here!” You shouted, jumping slightly. Chanyeol frowned.

“Where?”

“It’s a pet shop. Let’s go~” you sang, making him laugh. You grabbed his arm and pulled him to the pet shop. You immediately went all ‘aww’ and Chanyeol laughed again.

You leaded him to the dogs. A lot of puppies were looking at you and squeaking. They were all so cute that you couldn’t stop squeaking yourself.

“Come on,” you said, pulling Chanyeol down to the puppies. He hesitated a bit at first, but he felt the little dogs him and he chuckled, being tickled.

“Wha…” he asked, searching for them with his hands. He patted the head of one of them and enjoyed the fur under his fingers.

“They are small and their fur is creamy,” you said. “They are golden retrivers,” you added, smiling.

“I know them!” Chanyeol chimed. He straightened and you pulled up one of the puppies.

“Here, hold him,” you said. The boy opened his eyes widely.

“Wait, no, I-“

“Just hold him,” you chuckled and gave him the puppy. Chanyeol held him securely and his head and back. He smiled widely.

The puppy his finger and he squeezed his paws. He played with his ears as well.

You blushed at this sight and quietly pulled out your phone, taking a photo of them and smiling with satisfaction right after.

“Would you like to have a dog?” You asked.

“Yeah. I would train him too. Maybe I would be able to walk with his help then.”

“Haven’t you ever thought about it?” You asked skeptically. “I thought that every…” you paused.

“Don’t be scared to say that,” Chanyeol said, ‘looking’ up at you. “Even though I’m blind, I never thought about having a dog. I was pretty good myself. I live in this city from the day I was born. I know every step and place. And I have Kyungsoo. We were always together even before I got blind, so…”

You hummed. He gave you the puppy and you played with him for a few seconds as well before putting him away. You petted every animal you could, laughing and joking. You were bending down to play with a small Yorkshire, when you thought about something.

“Is there no chance that you’ll get your sight back?” You asked quietly. Chanyeol on his teeth.

“As for now, no,” he said. “It’s not only this white thing on my eyes. My nerves in the eyes are wrecked.”

“And what about studying? Why are you studying in a normal school?” you asked. “I’m not saying that I don’t want you to be here, of course…” you added, embarrassed and hoping that he didn’t get it wrong.

“I have a good memory. I can remember most of the things told on the lessons. I don’t want to go to a school for blind people. I wanted to be here, with my friends. And because of the good memory I have, I can study like normal teenagers. I’m taking verbal tests though.”

You nodded and put back the puppy.

“What time is it?” Chanyeol asked.

“Almost eight o’clock,” you answered, looking out the window. The sky was getting darker.

“Okay. Let’s go,” the boy said, standing up and stretching his limbs.

You were shocked once again. When you told him where exactly you are, he asked about a few directions and you described it to him; finally, he chose one way and this time, he was the one who leaded you. You didn’t know this part of the city and you were utterly surprised when he suddenly stopped in front of an old, big, closed building. You frowned, seeing it, and it suddenly hit you – it was an old cinema.

Chanyeol circled it until he found a ladder on the wall. He smiled and looked up as he could still see. He was imagining, you realized.

“That was my and Kyungsoo’s favourite place when we were in primary school,” he said softly. “Let’s go up,” he added and you opened your mouth to protest, but saw his happy expression and thought – why not.

“Will you be okay?” You asked. Chanyeol nodded and let you go up first. You slowly climbed up. To your surprise – again – the boy climbed even faster than you.

He took your hand right away and got closer, your shoulders touching. He turned right and you saw the whole city from up.

The sun was slowly setting behind the horizon. The sky looked like a painting of red, orange, pink, white, blue and black mixed together in incredible harmony.
All the glass buildings became gold and reflected the sky beautifully. You never thought that a sunset can be that amazing. It was something pretty, but it wasn’t like you loved to watch it.

It took your breath away.

Chanyeol probably heard that, because he squeezed your hand and leaned closer to you. You leaned your head on his shoulder and stared at the sky.

“Can you describe it to me?” He whispered with his beautiful voice that made your heart flutter. And you described it; with every detail and every word you could use, you described it. And in the exact same moment, for the first - and the last – time, you saw the boy you loved cry.

It was just one tear, but he cried and closed his eyes, letting his imagination overflow him. You patted his head and kissed his cheek lovably, slowly, but for a long time. Then, you kissed it again, quickly this time, only touching it briefly.

Chanyeol smiled under his nose and turned to you. You watched his almost white eyes, face and hair in the beautiful sunlight and thought about how beautiful he is. The boy pulled his hand up and touched your cheek and eyes. He held your face inside his hands, turning to you, and kissed your forehead. You automatically got closer to him and closed your eyes when he kissed you.

After that, you got closer and hugged him close. He hugged you back, and that moment was so beautiful that you wanted the time to stop. You felt secure.

“Raejin…” Chanyeol said, playing with your hair. You squeezed his abdomen harder, scared, that he will pull away. You didn’t want it to stop. You hummed softly and he put his lips to your ear.

“I love you,” he whispered.

Thousands of butterflies flew into your stomach. But it wasn’t only this physical sensation that you felt; your body got so light suddenly. Your mind was now occupied only by Chanyeol, his voice and touch. You were moved. Unbelievably happy. And it was the most pleasant feeling in the world; because he loved you back.

You almost fell on the ground, because your legs got so weak, but he held you up and you held into him. You chuckled suddenly. You couldn’t stop your laugh anymore, it was too beautiful to happen. You never thought of hearing those words from him.

Chanyeol waited patiently. You put your arms on his neck and his cheek, looking at him and enjoying his presence, feeling that it’s the most amazing moment in your life.

You pulled him closer and buried your face in his neck. He embraced you.

“I love you too,” you whispered into his ear.

Chanyeol chuckled, pulled you up and spun in the air, making you laugh.

It felt infinite.

~*~

And after that day, everything changed.

Your life got more colorful. Even though Chanyeol couldn’t see, he was taking you to the places you never thought that exist; you were spending most of the time with him. It wasn’t hurried. Nothing changed beside the fact that you knew about your feelings. But you never spoke these words again. You just knew.
You also kissed him on the cheek every time you saw him. In school, in the city, when he was visiting you at home and you watched TV – he enjoyed watching movies. He was only listening, but laughing together with you. Making you forget that he’s blind.

You liked to lean on his shoulder and between his legs. He was then placing his chin on your head and your hands in his hands. He liked to your fingers up and down. And you leaned your head on his torso, feeling warm and good.

You showed your mom the picture he painted. She wanted to meet him right away. So they met.

And she was more than delighted.

Of his looks, of his manners, of his kindness and affection he was showing to you. She said that in his case, eyes weren’t the most important. His moves and words were speaking by themselves.

But not only had this aspect in your life changed. He was taking you everywhere and you were meeting new people. People who didn’t care for your look but for your character. They were similar to Ji Eun – they didn’t judge.

About Ji Eun, she said that you changed. It was easier to talk to you and you got so hyper. You weren’t sad and sulky at school anymore. Everybody were shocked, when one day, you dashed into the school with papers all around you and clothes dangling on you. You quickly found Chanyeol sitting on a bench and ran to him.

Your mom got promotion again; but this time, she had two days free in a week that she could spend home.

Chanyeol embraced you around your stomach and everybody stoned when they saw it. You didn’t care though; you were close to him and he was happy for you. You ruffled his hair and laughed.

“You guys look so happy,” Kyungsoo sighed at that second. You pulled away from Chanyeol, a bit embarrassed.

“Wae? Can’t we?” Chanyeol teased. Kyungsoo only scoffed. Ji Eun appeared out of nowhere and jumped on you, almost nailing you to the floor.

“I’m so happy I’m so happy!” she chimed, jumping like crazy and embracing you. You squealed and jumped with her.

It was probably a small matter for other people; but for you, being able to spend time with your mom was one of your dreams coming true after your dad’s death.

“Also, she wants to meet Kyungsoo and all the guys,” you said. Chanyeol raised his brows.

“Ohh! Will she make dinner?!” He asked, excited. You laughed.

“Yeah.”

Kyungsoo opened his eyes widely and pointed at himself.

“Wait, me?” He asked.

“Yeah. And Chen, and Kai, and Lay, and Jin Ri and Amber”, you answered. You quickly regained yourself. “I mean… I would like to invite you, Kyungsoo, to a dinner,” you said formally and everyone burst out laughing.

“I feel honored,” Kyungsoo said.

You both snorted in unison and felt Chanyeol’s hand on your hand. You looked at him and he was looking at you – almost as he could really see you.

You squeezed his hand and got a bit closer.

When you started talking, you somehow ended up on his lap, with his head on your collarbones.
