The moment I stepped foot inside the Academy I had this weird feeling. Like, I’ve been here before.  Like, the school and I have some connection. I shrugged that thought in my mind. I looked around school. My eyes roamed around the school grounds. Looking at students who are chit-chatting and walking towards the entrance.  So the school has cliques. GREAT.

I miss my friends. I miss my best friend. How am I suppose to make new friends here? People here look so intimidating. Whatever. Be strong and tough, Jiyeon. Don’t let them scare you. They’re just human beings. Be who you are. Tough and never backing out.

I walked towards the entrance with people’s eyes following me. All I can do is sigh. Why are they minding me now? They were busy awhile ago. Ignoring them,  I walked towards the entrance with my chin up.

Finally, I reached the information office. I went inside and talked to the secretary.

“Miss, is the directress in?” I asked

“I’m sorry. But she’s away for a business trip. She’ll be back in a day or two. You, I presume, are the new student, am I right?” I nodded. “She gave me instructions to give you your schedule. “ she got something from her drawer and handed it to me. “ There, you can see your schedule for the whole week. That’ll be your schedule for the year, am I clear with that?” she asked me

“Yes, Ma’am.” I said with a nod. “ I will accompany you until your classroom.” The secretary said

“Uh, Ne.” I said, shyly. “Don’t be shy around me. You can call me Ms. S” She said with a smile.

I nodded my head and smiled back at her.

She accompanied me until my classroom. Students were staring at me. And I heard them whispering.

“She’s a  new student?"

“Why did she come here?”

“She’s pretty.”

“She’s a threat to us. Look at her, she’s gorgeous.”

“I wanna be her friend.”

“We’re here. The teacher’s already in… let’s go I’m going to introduce you.” She grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the classroom’s door.

“Mr. Jung, a minute please.” Ms. S said to the handsome teacher

I saw Mr. Jung smiled before walking towards our direction.

“What is it that I can help? Miss Park?” He said in a charming voice

“You see, Miss Park Jiyeon here is a new student. And she happens to be in your class advisory. So, take care of her. That’s all.” Miss S said formally

“Oh, I see. Well, hello there, Miss Park Jiyeon. I’m your handsome advisor. “ he offered his hand

I took it and shook hands with him. “Uhh, ne. Sir…” he cut me off. “ Call me Mr. J, clear?” he said

“Clear. Mr. J “ I smiled at him. Then I noticed that Miss S was still there. “ Oh, Miss S, thanks for accompanying me.” I smiled sweetly at her.

“Don’t mention it, Jiyeon. That’s my job. Take it from here, Mr. Jung “ with that she walked away

“She’s really something.” I heard Mr. J said

“Pardon, sir?” I asked

“Oh, nothing. Let’s go in. I’m going to introduce you to your new classmates.”  He walked in first and I trailed after him

“Students. Silence. With me here is your new classmate, Miss Park Jiyeon. Miss Park, kindly introduce yourself” He said nicely

“Oh, ne. Annyeong. I’m Park Jiyeon from Kent Foreign School. Please take care of me. “ I smiled before I bowed 90 degrees.

“Thank you, Miss Park. You may now take your seat….” He looked around for an empty seat “Oh, there’s one… in front of Mr. Kim” he said with a smile

I looked at my classmates and they looked worried and at the same time jealous. What’s so special with this guy?

I looked for that empty seat in front of that Mr. Kim. I found it quickly. But to my disappointment, Mr. Kim was the guy I encountered this morning. Oh great. Why him? Why am I classmates with him?

I slowly, hesitantly walked to my seat.  I saw him smirk when he saw me walking towards his direction.

“Oh, Why hello there… we meet again.” He smirked at me.

ARGH CURSE HIS ANNOYING SMIRK. INHALE. EXHALE.

“Yes, we meet again. So unpleasant to see you again, you ert.” I rolled my eyes

“Yes, ert… say that again or you’re dead meat.” He threatened me.

“Ohhhh. I’m scared. Grow up. And stop talking to me. We’re not friends. I don’t talk to strangers.” I turned my back

“Oh, we’re not strangers… I introduced my name this morning, remember?” He said whispering near my ear

“You stay back or else I’ll kick you in the balls. I swear. I know Taekwondo.” I threatened back

“Feisty.  You know, I never act like this to other girls. I don’t know why but you’re different… you make me act like this way. Talkative and playful.”

“Like I care. Don’t talk to me.” I said, still turning my back against him

“You’re interesting.” He said

“Ugh. Just shut up, will you?” I spat at him

“You’re talking to me. Uh-oh. You can’t help it, don’t you?” he winked at me

“You’re… frustrating. “ I turned to him to say that and turned to ignore him once again but this time I’m so going to do it. I concentrated with what Mr. J was saying. He was telling us about the rules. Blah blah blah.

The time passed so quickly. It was break time already. I entertained myself by walking and exploring the school. Ignoring the students with weird looks and stares. I roamed my eyes with amazement. The school was really amazing. Yet I have this weird and unexplainable feeling towards it.

WHY?
