Prologue

“Holy ... what happened here?” Leetuek whispered in shock as they looked around the empty and desolated city of New York. Apart from the brief sounds of birds chirping in the distance and the slow gushes of wind there was nothing else to be heard.
 

This was completely different to the city that they were used to. Where were the sounds of cars? Where were the sounds of people? Where were the sounds of the traffic lights? There was nothing. Completely nothing could be heard. It was as though the city had collapsed into a deep sleep.
 

It was as though the city was dead.
 

“Where is everybody?” Yuri breathed out silently as they walked slowly down the empty street passing empty shops and restaurants.
 

“Please... can we go back? I don’t like this... it’s freaking me out!”
 

They all turned around to see Tiffany shivering at the back looking around paranoid at the surroundings. It was true... something freaky was going on. The entire city was completely empty and there was no sound of whatsoever at all. But they couldn’t go back... they had come this far.
 

“We can’t... we came this far... we have to keep going,” Yoona replied in a quiet tone as Taeyeon placed a comforting arm on Tiffany’s shoulder.
 

Taeyeon looked back at everybody with concern. “She’s shaking really bad... maybe I should stay back with Tiffany so that she can recover? I don’t think she can keep going.”
 

“No,” Siwon spoke sharply. “We aren’t separating... either we all keep going or we all go back.”
 

Everybody nodded their heads agreeing with Siwon. Whatever was going on right now with the city was creepy and they couldn’t risk splitting up the group. They had to stick together. Siwon walked towards Tiffany and hugged her kissing the top of her head whispering comforting words to her ear.
 

“Do you know what’s strange? There’s not a single car that we’ve seen while we’ve been walking,” Yuri whispered to Seohyun. They were both walking near the very front sharing an almost inaudible conversation so that the rest of the group wouldn’t hear.
 

“I’ve noticed that too... it’s like everybody had driven out of here to escape... but from what?” Seohyun whispered fearfully in Yuri’s ear.
 

Yuri shrugged. “That’s the million dollar question.”
 

 “AAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!”
 

It was Tiffany’s loud ear splitting scream at the back of the group making the hairs at the back of everybody’s neck stand up. Her scream exemplified further with the emptiness of the city making her scream echo and bounce. Before everybody could turn around to see what had happened Siwon’s frantic voice could be heard.
 

“DON’T LOOK BACK! START RUNNING! START RUNNING NOW!”

Another story that I've been planning. I don't know why but I've been watching quite a bit of horror movies recently and I love the idea of an empty city especially something as big as New York. It creates a huge mystery and suspense. So can you guess what had happened to the city? Stay tuned for next update!
