Going the Distance
Description
In a small town 200 kilometres from the city, with a population of about 10,000 people, everyone knows everyone, including those small details that should not be anybody’s business but the people concerned.
Myung Soo lives in this little town of Fairfield with his good friend, Sung Jong. They attend the same university and live a rather mundane life.
One night, while closing down the Taj Jackson Pub he works at, a girl comes knocking on the door. It is none other than Amber Liu, his coworker. They don’t have the same shifts and their conversation has always been limited to the “Hi” and “Bye”.
In contrast to his reserved existence, everyone in town knows Amber Liu: “The lesbian girl from the city who is in a relationship with the beauty Krystal Jung”. Everyone talks about her, and them. When Amber and Krystal break up, the news spread very quickly across Fairfield. According to Sung Jong, who knows all the gossips in town, Krystal has cheated on Amber with another girl back in the city.
When Amber comes for a drink that night, with the broken look in her eyes forcing a smile, Myung Soo knows she is alone. Despite all the negative rumours that follow her every step, he sympathises with her and decides to stay back to be her company.
Except, he doesn’t know what he is in for.
Note: Fairfield is small suburb in Melbourne, Victoria; however, I am just using it for the town's name in this story. The town has no relationship to the Melbourne's Fairfield whatsoever.
