Roomies

50 Days

Xiao Xin was in front of her new dorm.

"Time to get situated in my new dorm!"

Xiao Xin had to sleep in a hotel yesterday while her dorm was being prepared.

The moment she opened her door a tiny sliver, a pungent stench hit her in the face.

"Oh my gosh! What is that horrible smell?"

As the door opened wider, the smell got stronger.

Out of no where, a young pretty face popped out from behind the door.

"ANNYONGHASEYO UNNIE!"

the sudden appearance of this squealing girl dressed in sweats sent Xiao Xin falling on her .

This girl was pretty. No, prettier than pretty, she was tiny compared to Xiao Xin's 5'6 frame. She had flawless milky white skin and she even looked pretty in sweats.

"OMO! Mianhae unnie! Let me help you up. Wo jiao Sunmi, Hello!"

"You can speak in Korean English and mandarin too?" Xiao Xin was happy that she met someone who could speak so many of the same languages as she did.

"Yeah but not well… the president said I didn’t have anything too unique except my face, so he wanted me to know a lot of languages. Anyways, I'm Sunmi and I'll have been a trainee for two years in a week."

"Oh congrats! My name is Xiao Xin but you can also call me Alyssa."

"Unnie your English is so good! They said your English was good but I never would've thought it was this awesome."

"Yeah. I'm from America. I'm half Korean and half Chinese."

"Woah. That's so cool! I wish I was a mix too. If only I was Chinese… I could relate to Lay oppa more." Sunmi almost drooled just thinking about Lay

"Erm… Lay? Like potato chips? Speaking of potato chips, why are there so many on the carpet? AND WHAT is that horrid smell?"

"LAY IS A UNICORN!"

"Woah. Chill Sunmi"

"Sorry. I just get defensive when it comes to my Lay oppa"

"Yeah. No kidding. Do you like him or something?"

"Like? I LOVE HIM" He's the whole reason I didn’t quit the entertainment industry."

"Okay okay. We got too personal, too fast. First introduce yourself and then tell me what died in this room."

"Sorry. I'm Kang Sunmi, born and raised in Seoul, full Korean, 17 years old, I have a mom, dad, two brothers, five fish, two dogs, one horse, and I want a unicorn."

"Do you need water or something? How did you say all that without stopping?"

"Because I'm a singer"

"I see… now the smell?"

"Oh, sorry, I have athletes foot… and I ate beans yesterday." Sunmi could not wipe the cheeky smile off her face.

"I practice dancing a lot so that I can match Lay oppa's skill. But we all know that'll never happen, but I try. Anyways unnie, what's your specialty?"

Xiao Xin couldn’t wrap her mind around what Sunmi had just said. How could such a tiny 5'3 innocent looking girl produce such a scent?

"uhmm… I 'm mostly a singer/dancer but I can also rap."

"Wow unnie you're so awesome. I'm glad we're roomies. Anyways, now that we know each other, you can go get yourself situated and then go look at your schedule on that desk beside your bed. And don’t worry. I'll do something about the smell. But right now I have to go to my schedule."

After unpacking, Xiao Xin walked over to her desk to get her schedule. She picked the piece of paper off the low table next to her desk. The table reminded her of the one she had back home. Although she has only been in Korea for two days, she was already homesick.

She took one look at her schedule and groaned.
