To smile again
It's been a long, long time {SEMI HIATUS (sorry guys)}
"Hello," she said. She sounded like an angel. The others had gone to socialize, leaving me and Tiffany sitting at the bar. I turned to her slightly and smiled. "Hello," I said in return. I saw her smile a little while still looking down at the floor beneath us. Her hands were in her lap, intertwined as if she was holding someone else's hand. I couldn't help but to smile even wider. She was so beautiful.
From across the room I saw Daesung talking to Sooyoung. Almost as soon as I looked up at him he turned to me. His eyes flickered from me to Tiffany before mouthing 'talk to her'. I quickly turned away and shifted uncomfortably in my seat. Things before were never so awkward between us before. We'd always joke and laugh and often pull pranks on Taeyang. But now things seemed different. As if meeting eachother for the first time.
I cleared my throat. As I did I noticed Tiffany shift a bit in her seat. I took a deep breath; it's now or never.
"So, how have you been," I asked. She turned her head fully to me, as if she was suprised by me speaking. After a few seconds twisted into a sad smile.
"I've been... alright," she said, her slight smile turning into a frown. Did I upset her?
"Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot-," I began, trying to apologize. But while I was trying to, Tifany began to laugh and shake her head. At first I was confused. Then after a while I began to laugh with her.
"No. It's okay. I'm sorry. Can we just, start over-," she said. I smiled and nodded.
"So, how have you been," I asked again. This time she tilted her head to the side and smiled. I couldn't help but to blush. I remember when she used to smile like that. She used to smile like that when Seungri and Daesung would cheer her up after her and Jiyong got in an argument. She used to smile like that when we suprised her for her birthday. She used to smile like that all the time.
"I've been good. You Seunghyun," she asked, her smile still holding. Sometimes I wondered how could Jiyong not love some one as perfect as Tiffany. It pained me to see her whenever she was hurt. When she came to us in tears after fights she'd have at Jiyong's apartment, all I wanted to do was hold her and tell her how much I love her. But things weren't that easy.
"I've been good too," I said, staring strait into her eyes. She began to laugh again. This time I was really confused. Did I say something?
"Oh, I'm sorry Seunghyun. Your stare is just too intense," she said between laughing. I just smiled awkwardly. It wasn't the first time I'd heard that.
"Tiffany, we're leaving! Come on," Taeyeon shouted from across the room, waving Tiffany over.
Leaving? She couldn't be leaving, we just began talking. Tiffany began to hop off of the bar stool. I quickly held out my hand to assist her. She looked up at me and smiled before taking my hand and sliding off of the stool.
As she began to leave, she stopped and turned around.
"Oh, and Seunghyun," she said, looking up at me once again.
"Yes," I asked.
"Thanks, it was nice," she said. Smiling a genuine smile. I coulden't help but to smile back.
"Nice to what?"
"To smile again."
