"Kim Myungsoo!" Myungsoo's best friend Sungyeol said, throwing his arm around him as they walked down the hallway on the first day of class for the new school year. Myungsoo rolled his eyes and shrugged his arm off his shoulders.

"Don't be so noisy early in the morning. It makes my head ache." He muttered.

"God, this guy... Always in such a bad mood." Sungyeol said, smacking him on the head.

"I'm not in a bad mood, you're just extremely annoying." He replied, icily. He walked into the classroom and sat on the chair at the rightmost corner, at the far back. He liked to assume that everyone knew that was where he sat. The guys always knew him as "That guy who never talks unless he needs to but the chicks dig him" and girls know him as "The super cute guy who doesn't like any girls so he must be gay since he only hangs out with Sungyeol." 

He will never understand how the female brain works and how they come up with bull just by looking at him and Sungyeol talk. Sungyeol has been his best friend since they were in kindergarten. He's a bit loud and annoying but he's an alright person all in all, at least to him. The only thing he absolutely hated about his best friend is that he actually has an insanely good social life so when he was with him it attracted too much attention, which usually led to awkward and unnecessary conversations. Myungsoo didn't even like talking to Sungyeol or his family all that much, how does Sungyeol expect him to talk to everyone else?

"Good morning class, we would like to introduce a new student!" The teacher said instantly, when he arrived. "Her name is Kim Eunjae, please be nice to her."

Great. Beautiful. Another one.

It's not like he hated everyone. It's not that. Nothing like that, definitely. He just-- didn't like.. talking to most of them.

You see the thing about high school is, to him, it was the eighth circle of hell. People make friends, then in the end someone stabs you in the back. People stick the labels 'boyfriend' and 'girlfriend' on each other's foreheads and in the end, someone cheats on someone. Myungsoo hated the term 'boyfriend' almost as much as he hated the word 'moist.' (It's gross, he'd complain whenever Sungyeol questioned him about it) The word annoyed the out of him. Everyone seemed fake, everyone just wanted attention, everyone's too loud, everyone's annoying, everyone's an idiot and most of all, everyone seemed to have bad taste in music. Sungyeol was the only person in that god-damned school who he liked so Myungsoo decided since the very beginning, that he will be the only person he will communicate with once they graduate. To hell with the rest of them.

"Miss Kim, take the empty seat next to Myungsoo the boy at the righter most at the back." He heard the teacher say. He sighed in annoyance.

He heard her slip into the seat next to him with a small "Sorry" seeming to notice that he didn't want her beside him at all. For a few minutes, they just listened to their teacher rant about the history of something no one cared about and it made him want to jump out the window and run off to Alaska, until he felt Eunjae beside him tap his arm.

"Do you have an extra pen?" She asks with an awkward smile

Who the goes to school on the first day without a pen? He wants to say but he doesn't. Because that would violate his Rule #2 in life, of course.. and that would be, shut up. Instead, he resorts to shaking his head no.

For the first time since she came, he glanced at her while she was facing the teacher and holy was she hot. Despite her undeniable attractiveness though, it was not enough to change Myungsoo's perspective of her. She's still one of those high school girls who type exclamation points on texts even when it's not necessary. Who listens to those love songs about being kids in love or whatingever. 

Everything about everyone seems to somehow annoy him, but he always did his best to ignore them most of the time since not ignoring them would mean violating his first rule.. which is don't care. 

Once the bell rang, he sighed in relief. He had survived a day.

"How was the new girl? Is she hot or is she hot?" Sunyeol asked, as they walked home. "You're lucky as hell that you got to sit with her."

Myungsoo shrugged. "She seems alright." 

Sungyeol rolled his eyes. He knew Myungsoo too well and he knew he wouldn't talk to him about a girl any further.

Myungsoo walked into his house after waving goodbye to Sungyeol and found his mom sitting on the kitchen table, reading some weird magazine that probably has advice on how to get his dad to do stuff with her in bed or some type of other mom stuff he didn't want to know about.

"So how was school?" She asked without looking up from her magazine.

A shrug. "Fine."

And he knows she wouldn't question him further.
