Chapter 2

Lost in Oblivion

“Orange card! Orange card! Chanyeol got an orange card!” someone yelled while running along the hallways of the school they were in. It was just yesterday when Chanyeol started, got hated by most of the students probably except for those who thinks maturely than their age.

The fact that he doesn’t really know how to comprehend with those who he should call classmates, their immaturity, the way they act, it was pissing him off to the point that he dared not to talk to anyone, unless someone speaks to him first. Now, he was given an orange card just because of something he didn’t even do, or well, he honestly was taken aback with the piece of paper stuck on the top of his locker up to the bottom of it. It was an orange lengthwise paper, scribbled on it was a ‘You are dead.’ With a skull drawing on the middle of it. He was practically guessing the right meaning of those words, and by that time, someone was actually leaning against the grills which surrounding the staircase.

“Surprised, well you should be.” A familiar voice said as she saw on the grills of the staircase while looking at his behind, Chanyeol could feel his back burning with the way she smirked and looked at him as if he was her prey, well, soon.

His head turned around with the wave of his body as he saw the one who thought of everything beforehand. Rei, the one who he despises the most. Even just by the glimpse of her, he wanted to pull himself back and never to look at her again, nor to feel her presence. Sure, she was beautiful, sure she was smart (By the way she answers the professors’ questions so swiftly and accurately.), sure she was one of a kind, but her personality tells the otherwise.

“What’s this now, Gu Rei Ah?” He asked, pulling the paper out of his locker to show her what it was, and all he got from her is a smirk he couldn’t refuse to see.

“Just a little reminder to let you know where you should stand.” She said, rolling her eyes as she dropped herself on where she was sitting before walking ahead of him. Rei stopped for a while and looked back, timidly smiling, “Oh, and by the way, you’re walking home.” Her smile turned to a smirk once she pointed out to let him see what the other students did to his own bicycle.

Chanyeol’s jaw dropped the minute he saw his only bicycle tormented by the other students who doesn’t want to feel Rei’s wrath.

“Hey! That’s my bike!” He yelled, running outside the school to try and save of what’s left of it. It was the only bike he has and it would be really troublesome for him if he had to walk from his house back and forth.

“It was a very long time when we last do this, right?” Sulli asked, standing next to Luna who was just looking outside, amazed of what she was seeing. Krystal looked at Rei who was obviously happy seeing Chanyeol suffer because of what she told the other students to do, and it doesn’t stop there.

Looking at where they were from, they saw Chanyeol being punched by one of the biggest boy in the school, when he was trying to get his bike away from them, he got kicked, laughed at, tormented by every single thing he used to avoid before. “You might kill him.” Krystal said, sincerity was visible in her voice as she looked back to her friend with her concerned eyes.

“Since when you got the heart to forgive?” Rei asked as she sighed before leaning back to the wall she leant in before, crossing her arms on her chest and ran her fingers through her vivid hair.“He needs to learn to think before talking back to me, no one dares to disrespect Gu Rei Ah.” Rei said as she pulled herself away from the rest of them to grab something to eat in their own place at the top of the canteen, once was their fathers’ which was passed on to them like most of the things in the school.

It was only by then, Chanyeol realized that he had received that famous card that  once was called a Red Card; whenever someone receives a red notice before, everyone will turn their back on you and you’ll be tortured until you give up and never to be seen again. It’s orange now, though. Rei doesn’t like the idea of being similar to what his father had been doing before, even if all their ways were familiar, she tries to do it on her own, being bratty doesn’t stop her on doing what she wanted to do.

“Same old little Rei.” Luna said as chuckled before walking ahead and followed Rei from behind, she was a bit starving just by watching them torture the poor guy. She doesn’t want to invade Rei’s thoughts though, because she knew better than to mingle with her desires. She knew that Rei wouldn’t be stopped once she had thought of something worthwhile, and this, this was her act of being noticed and feared.

Sulli on the other hand was still watching the view as she was slightly pitying Chanyeol who would soon face more than this. She decided to move on and go ahead with the others, looking at Krystal who sighed before looking back at the two blurry shadow which indicated that Rei and Luna wasn’t visible anymore.

“Come on, Krystal, let’s go.” Sulli said as she walked past her, not minding her reply. A lollipop was propped inside again as she skipped towards the canteen where she knew Rei and Luna were.

The fact that he was being tormented, Krystal couldn’t help but to notice some blood on Chanyeol’s mouth which urged her to go and help him out. She ran across the students who were still bullying him, telling him that he was good for nothing, that he doesn’t belong in the world he was living in, that he wasn’t belong where they were at that same moment. Krystal barged in, pulling one of the student who was about to spit on Chanyeol’s face before kicking him to the ground. F4 was skilled and has mastered the art of martial arts when they were young, their own fathers’ suggested that they have to do so, to protect themselves in case they weren’t around.

“Stop, go back to your classes.”She said as she looked around with her fierce eyes on. Chanyeol couldn’t help but to cough blood on the ground as he tried to stand up but he couldn’t, too weak to even do something about it.

“Krystal, don’t do this. You might be tortured too.” he weakly said, rewarding him a chuckle, Krystal made sure that everyone was away before leaning down on him to press her own handkerchief on his swollen cheek.

“Don’t worry, they won’t. They’re afraid of what I can do.” She smiled, pulling him up to her arms and helped him on his way to the infirmary for some first aid.

Chanyeol’s heart couldn’t stop pumping wilder and faster by the minute they were together. She was sweet, acting like he was somehow special to him unlike her other friends who could only think about themselves. He couldn’t help but to think about how did they managed to be with each other when Krystal was soft and cares about others more than she cares about herself. He couldn’t help but to feel those tingling sensation inside his chest either, knowing that it was really impossible for her to like him the way he does. She had always been his hero, even if it was supposed to be the other way around. Krystal was always there whenever he needed some help, and now, she was even the one who saved him from that pitiful misery.

As they were conversing, they didn’t know that a pair of eyes was watching them from a far.

“I’m alright, it’s okay, you don’t have to worry about me anymore.” Chanyeol shyly smiled as she continued to wash the bruises off his face. They were inside the infirmary now, the nurse said that the wounds would be cured ahead of time since he was brought inside before it could get worse. The nurse went outside to eat as it was her lunch break and she couldn’t have it any other way to leave the kids alone inside.

Krystal smiled, putting everything down on the table beside them as she looked out and took a deep breath like what her father said to her whenever she feels weary.

“Bear with it, alright?” She said, holding his hand. Chanyeol couldn’t help but to blush at her actions. She was really an angel sent from above in his eyes. Those warm smiles she had been giving him throughout the time that they were together, the stares of concern, the fact that she was there with him instead of being with her friends to eat, he felt something that he haven’t felt before.

His stomach was doing some flip-ups, his brain was aching from over thinking of things, his heart couldn’t stop beating so fast that he was actually scared that it might pop, and to think that Krystal was there, and she might have felt that it was beating rapidly, for a normal person. Believe him when he said that he haven’t felt anything like that before, on his previous school, he couldn’t do anything but to study, determined to do anything just to have the money to pay for his family’s debts, he was motivated to do better, not just to mingle around with people. But this, this was different for him. To start a new life in a new world which was heaven and hell’s apart from his, he needs to be better than this.

But first, he needs to know who he is up against.

“Tell me, Krystal, why is she doing this?” He asked, totally flustered and tired already. If this could happen in a day, what more could happened by the end of the year.

Krystal took a deep breath before smiling timidly at him, knowing that he needs those answers well explained, as he was actually innocent upon the world he was living in. “As you know, by now, I guess, that Rei is the heir of Gu industries, in the whole world. She needs to be taught how to be independent, to be a leader, how to choose the right path to take, who to trust and what to do when something popped out of nowhere. We all know that she’s a brat, she knows it as well and in fact, that’s what makes her unique.” She smiled, thinking about her best friend.

“Rei just needs to find something that could make her think maturely for her age, to act like a grown up and to be able to do better at things. The thing that was running inside her mind is that, sooner or later, her grandparents will accept a marriage invitation for her to be in, transfer everything in her name, and the responsibility isn’t a joke and that’s why as much as possible, she wants to have fun.” She trailed, thinking about the consequences of Rei will have to face one she couldn’t do everything that her grandmother would say. “Everything in her life is planned already, and that’s why she hates it the most. Good thing that she has a loving parents, and well, us, to take care of whatever happens to her.” She finished, looking back at him for the approval of what she just said, the only thing he could do was to nod, though. Since, he didn’t know what to reply, nor what to think.

“Then why torture someone who’s innocent?” he asked, looking down while playing with his fingers.

“It was her way to show everyone that she deserves her surname. Gu isn’t just a well-known company, but a well educated and powerful people comes from. They wouldn’t want anything less than intelligence and knowledge on how to be the best. No wonder they’re the richest among the wealthiest people in Korea. It’s her way to show that she, too, has the power to make everything envy of what she have.”

Chanyeol sighed and rubbed the back of his head, earning a chuckle, yet again from the girl sitting beside him.

“Now, promise me that you won’t give up.” She asked, looking at him and smiled softly.

“Of course, I wouldn’t.”

Luna has something behind her past that made her like that. I don't want to spoil, though so...wait for the next chapters, I guess :)

minstal? that would be nice. I don't like Luna here, though she is my bias and I usually don't read stories that put her in a bad position, but I am curious as to what will happen next. Rei needs some serious lesson learned.
