Kris was one of those Heartless Immortals.  They weren't called Heartless because they were cold, violent or mean people.  They were called Heartless because they can continue on living without a heart inside their bodies.  There were cases when a Heartless Immortal would transfer their heart to another body.  This usually happens when a Heartless falls in love with a mere mortal.
