The Hare

His family had murderers, mad people, schizophrenics, public dangers, serial killers. All of them were completely crazy, and you had to obey all of them if you wanted to stay alive. A narcissistic mother and a serial killer father had been his parents, and the ones who had brought him up. He knew how to kill before knowing how to talk.

At the age of 5, they had introduced him to God. The thought of someone watching his every action had made him go crazy, and to please Him he had started to make people believe in Him… using strength, if he had to. His Bible had become his weapon, and he had killed many people using it.

The Mad Hatter had found him at the age of 10, after he had killed a whole village of people who didn’t want to believe in his God. The tall man had said he didn’t believe in God, but also that he wasn’t scared of the Hare.

“If you believe in me, I can help you more than God”, he had said.

And the Hare had been skeptical, but he had followed him.

“Okay. But if God helps me more than you do, I’ll kill you.”

“That’s a deal.”

The Mad Hatter had given him another name, another family, another reason to live. He had taught him how to make friends, how to be nice, and how to do other things than killing. Teaching him the value of life. Until that day.

“Siwon-ah. I’m leaving. Protect Ryeowookie, okay? And all of the friends. Protect them, pray for them. Pray your Lord that he will never find them. That he will never find Ryeowookie.”

“My Lord, you are the only one I shall now pray to. You helped me more than God would’ve helped me.”

“But I’m leaving. Now God will help you more than ever. Always pray. And protect your friends using these skills you learned when you were a kid.”

“But, my Lord…”

“I’m leaving. May God be with you.”

The last thing he had seen had been the Mad Hatter walking away, leaving his tailcoat on the ground behind him, like he would never ever come back.
