Only a week after you graduated from high school, your father gets into a car accident on his way to work. He goes into a coma and suddenly you're by yourself. Your mom had died when you were only four years old, so your dad was all you had left. You got a job to pay the bills and for food, but the hospital and house bills kept piling up, and your job at the local ice cream parlor wasn't paying much, but it was the only decent place that would hire a new high school gradute. Your neighbor, the Woo's, finally convinced you to sell your house and move in with them. They have a daughter, Deanna, who is five years older than you, but you two still talk sometimes.

You stay at their house for a couple of weeks before their son, Kevin, visits them for the summer. You've never met him before (your family moved next door after he had left for Korea) but Deanna and her parents have told you about him and he seems to be a really nice guy. Maybe you'll become friends?
