Prologue

Her eyes are glistening from the unshed tears. Her happiness is palpable from a mile radius. Looking at the scene before her, she finally let go of her tears. The sun is gracefully setting above the serene body of water. Its rays, though slowly fading, are reflected in the sea. It casts an orange haze above the horizon, lighting up the sky as if lit by fire, yet the haze was so crisp and clear. 

She turned her face to the man that is responsible for her joy. Her love.

“Jiyong, thank you for taking me here to watch the lovely sunset. It has always been my dream to witness this happen.” She smiled broadly at him and hugged him from the side.

“You don’t have to thank me Dara. Seeing you this happy is worth it. My heart flutters seeing you smile like that.” Jiyong looked her deeply in the eye. He felt drawn in those brown orbs staring directly at him. Without him knowing it, his head slowly descended into hers and gently brushed his lips into her soft luscious ones.

Jiyong wasn’t ready for the rush of emotions that came flooding him after his lips touched Dara’s. He felt as if he was knocked off his breath. The once steady beat of his heart went berserk. He didn’t know this was possible. He thought that what was written on romance books was all just overrated. He didn’t know that a kiss could feel like this. That he could feel happy, contented, excited and loved with just a simple brush of the lips.

Slowly, he withdrew from her lips and gaze at her eyes, conveying his feelings that were kept hidden for years until this very day. His hands then made their way to her smooth cheeks and caressed it as if it was a piece of expensive glass, afraid that a simple touch will break it. “I love you Dara. I love you since the day you strut your way into our practice room and introduced yourself as the new trainee.” He uttered with so much conviction while staring deep into her eyes, wanting for her to realize just how much truth his words held.

His head slowly descended to the crook of her neck and hugged her by the waist tightly. “Please, be my girl.”

Dara hugged him back as tightly as he did. And with a soft chuckle she said, “Silly, of course I’ll be glad to be your girlfriend. I’ve waited so long for this to happen.”

Jiyong abruptly looked at her in the eyes, searching for any indication of uncertainty. Seeing none, his head once again descended, capturing her lips for a searing kiss. “I.can’t.believe.you’re.my.girl.now.” he said in between kisses. “I.promise.you’ll.be.the.only.girl.my.eyes.will.admire.and.my.heart.will.love.” The kiss lasted a minute longer before Jiyong pulled out and looked directly through her eyes. “You’re the only girl for me Dara. Thank you.”

“I am not forbidding you to love another Jiyong, but don’t expect me to still be there waiting for you if you do. And if that ever happens, there's no turning back.” She smiled and gave him another deep kiss.

“Infidelity and unfaithfulness for me, is unforgivable. Please keep that in mind, Ji.”

“I know Dara. I promise, you’ll be the only one.”
