Afterlife Mentor

Description

Hi, i made this short fic for my friend, Khansa. well, actually, it's a bet -_- i got the inspiration from here and there -_- so yea. Enjoy Khansa :-)

Foreword

The last thing she remembered was the shrieking sound of the wheel roughly sliding on the asphalt. And that’s it. Nothing. But not long after that, a bright light goes through her eyelids and she slowly opened her eyes, hoping that she’s on a hospital bed and her family is right next to her, waiting for her. But no. Instead she realized that she’s lying down on an unfamiliar place. A park perhaps. With nicely cut grass, butterflies, and daffodils. Wait, daffodils? There’s no such thing as daffodils where I came from. She thought. And that’s enough to convince her that she’s nowhere near where she came from. Or where she’s supposed to be.

Oh, crap. The thing that came to her mind is that this is getting weird.  She also can’t deny that a little part of her thinks that she just died.

“You guessed right”.

She flinched. Great, I’ve got company. She stood up, trying to look strong and brave, but still she can’t hide the nervous expression on her face. Slightly shaky, she managed to get the right balance.

“Who are you? Hello?” She can’t think of anything better to ask. The atmosphere is so tense. Not the welcoming committee that she’s expecting. There’s a slight silence. She waited for an answer. Ahhh so nerve-wrecking.

“It’s okay, no need to be nervous. It’s not it’s judgment day. Yet.” The voice said. Soothing, yet annoying because she can’t even tell where the voice came from.

What? How did heWait.  It’s like, he know exactly what I’m thinking. Okay, this is getting a bit creepy. “God, you should just show yourself right now. This totally pissing me off. Seriously.” It’s clear that she’s irritated.

“Ahh, you’re one of the few who actually good at taking in the fact that you’re actually dead.” Said the voice. It sounded like he’s surprised? Proud? No idea. She smirked, and let out a little scoff. She folded her arm in front of her chest. I know I’m awesome.

She heard a sigh. “Still full of yourself aren’t you?”

Okay, that’s it. He’s totally creeping me out with the ‘I-know-exactly-what-you’re-thinking’ thing. “Please, just show—“

She barely finished her sentence when she heard footsteps from her right. She froze. Debating with herself rather to turn or not.

She turned anyway.

She saw black sneakers, jeans, striped polo, and glasses. Not quite what she expected. The guy was tall, obviously. He’s thin, he slumps, and he looked like a typical computer geek. The ones who often bullied at her school when she’s alive and well. Bullied by her, at least.

“What? Is it that bad?” he asked gesturing to himself. “Yes, it’s that bad.” She smiled, a little relieved that it’s not a scary figure that came out. “Anyway, where am I exactly?” being a curious person that she is, she can’t hold herself from asking. He looked down and a smile formed on his face, “you’re in between your earth plane, and where you’re supposed to be. You should stop the questions and just follow me.”

I’m supposed to follow a geek? Hoho. No way.“Oh yeah, and one more thing…” he turned his head to her direction. She snapped back from her thoughts, and looked up. “Here, we can read each other thoughts. So watch what you’re thinking.”

Oh. So that’s why this geek can— “YAH! Stop calling me a geek!”. Oops, sorry. I really should control my thoughts. Is that even possible? For me, I mean. The boy then beckoned her to follow him. So she did.

They stopped at an opened field. What now? “Patience.” He said coolly and smoothly. “Oh, by the way, my name is Kyuhyun. I’ll be your guide for now on.”

“Guide? Like, a tour guide?”. He covers his face with his right palm. “No Khansa, like a mentor.” Ahh perfect. My mentor is a— hmmm, a uniquely dressed dude. What more can a girl ask for. Kyuhyun glared at her.

“Now, you should try to semifest. It’s really easy. Just concentrate really hard, and imagine exactly what you want.”.

Khansa is confused. “And then what?” she asked.

“Oh great, you’re stupid.” Kyuhyun mumbled.

“HEY!” Khansa barked.

“Okay okay fine. Sorry. Sheesh. Just wait until something happens. Just give it a try.” Khansa positioned herself. “What should I semifest?”. “Well, we need a ride.” Kyuhyun let out a smile. He’s obviously expecting something great.

“This is really hard Kyuhyun, I can’t seem to semifest anything”. Kyuhyun let out a sigh. “Is concentrating that hard?” Kyuhyun’s sitting on the grass waiting that someday, like, today they can actually go. Khansa didn’t even bother to answer.

When Kyuhyun opened his eyes, he saw a Unicorn. Khansa was standing next to it with a proud grin. “It’s a miracle.” Kyuhyun said sarcastically while walking towards them. He hopped on, and offered his hand, signaling her to grab it. With an effortless pull, she’s on.

The unicorn started to go airborne and Khansa clanged tightly. “One question.” Kyuhyun looked back. “Why a unicorn?”. “Just shut up, aren’t you just thankful we can already go now.” Khansa said, not bothering to look up. “Point taken.”

They flew past clouds, and Khansa saw beautiful views that really are worth seeing. Guess what, it’s all in your mind. You semifested this. Khansa heard Kyuhyun’s thoughts. See,  it’s that easy.

“Oh, Khansa.” Kyuhyun broke the silence. “Yeah?” She popped her head out. “From now on, you’ll have to stick with me. I’m your mentor after all.”. “Yeah, sure, whatever.” She said toneless, and looked back down.

“And you can call me Kyu.”
