Dahyun nestled the sleeping Kylo against her chest in the silent aftermath of the event, his small arms wrapped around her neck. Sana kept a calculated distance from the two of them, her gaze locked on the ground.

The other cleared softly, attempting to break the tension. "I think he recognizes me... as his mother," she said.

"I may hate you," Sana continued, her voice steady, "but I'm not going to let Kylo feel the weight of that hatred. I'm going to share with him everything I know about your life so he can understand."

"Listen, Sana..." Dahyun took a deep breath, "Would... would it be okay if I drove you and Kylo home?"

Sana paused for a moment, her gaze drawn to the venue's entrance. "We should inform Chaeyoung," she finally said. "She brought us here, so we used her car to get to the event."

"She brought us here, and she's probably expecting to be the one to get us home as well."

"Okay, that's fine. We can talk to her first."

Finally, Chaeyoung emerged from the venue, an apologetic expression on her face. "Sorry, dudes, I had to meet someone important," she said, sheepishly clutching the back of her neck.

"It's alright. Actually, Dahyun offered to drive us home, if that's okay with you."

Chaeyoung cast a swift glance between the two women, her gaze staying briefly on Dahyun's face. "Sure, I guess. I've got some things to attend to anyway," she responded, masking any discomfort as best as she could.

"Thank you for tonight, Chaeyoung. See you around?" Sana said with a little smile.

"Certainly!" Chaeyoung said as he approached the sleeping Kylo, affectionately ruffling his hair. "Take care, little guy," she said softly.  She then nodded at Dahyun, a silent acknowledgment, and turned away, heading in the opposite direction.

Sana shifted her gaze to Dahyun, "Lead the way to your car. Kylo's had a long night already," she said.

"Yeah," the other woman nodded, carefully adjusting their son in her arms. "Let's, uh, let's bring him home. It's been quite an eventful night."

Sana watched Dahyun with Kylo in her arms. They looked like a family—what they once were. A glimmer of warmth tempted her heart, but a lingering fear kept her back. She took a few steps back to take in what she was seeing.

Is this what it could have been?

Isn't this the kind of family Kylo deserves?

Is this a possibility?

Can they accept the idea of becoming a family again?

Could she allow herself to hope, to heal?

Dahyun slowed her pace, glancing back as she noticed Sana hanging back a bit. The physical space between them felt more than the few steps that separated them.

She turned around and walked back to Sana. "I don't want to force anything, Sana. What I said the other night, I shouldn't have. I don't want you to feel pressured or rushed into anything you're not ready for," Dahyun said quietly, smiling with sad eyes. "I will... I will be a part of Kylo's life and yours, but only and only if... if you'll let me."

Dahyun brought Kylo to his room, snuggling him into bed and making sure he was comfortable. She paused for some time, studying his sleeping face's relaxed expression. As she stepped out of the room, she found Sana waiting.

As they made their way into the living room, the air was thick with awkwardness and unspoken thoughts. "Thank you for allowing me be a part of tonight. It means a lot to me," Dahyun said, breaking the stillness.

Sana merely nodded, her eyes displaying a complicated range of feelings that words couldn't express. Dahyun, sensing the unspoken, smiled one last time before walking towards the front door.

She stepped outside to be greeted with the first snowfall of the season.

"It must have been a long night for you as well," Sana said promptly. "You may stay here if you like, but the spare room is a bit of a shambles. It's like a storage room now, full of stuff, so you'll have to settle for the living room couch."

Dahyun felt a warm wave of gratitude at the offer, happy for the chance to stay around a bit longer. Her initial impulse to hug Sana was held back by the understanding that it was too soon for such gestures. "Thank you... thank you so much, Sana. I appreciate it. The couch is more than enough," she said with a sincere smile.

Dahyun found herself engaged in the visual narrative of her family's life as she went about the living room. Photographs hung on the walls and shelves, capturing fleeting moments throughout time. There were images of Sana and Kylo, their faces glowing with utter happiness, and Dahyun couldn't help but feel regretful.

A little collage in the corner displayed photographs of them as a couple back in happier times. Sana's willingness to display these memories, not just for herself, but also for Kylo, spoke volumes about the depth of her kindness.

Maybe I don't deserve her, Dahyun thought to herself.

Her wife had created a life for herself and their son, one filled with love and experiences she couldn't be a part of. It made Dahyun fret if she could ever be worthy of the forgiveness she wanted.

Sana returned with a heap of blankets and pillows, jolting Dahyun out of her reverie. "Here," Sana said as she handed her the makeshift bedding. "Make yourself comfortable. If you need anything else, just let me know."

"Yes, yes, thank you," Dahyun said with sincerity. She unfurled the blankets and positioned the pillows on the living room couch to make a makeshift bed. "You should get some rest too," she suggested, her tone gentle. "I'll be doing so, too, as soon as I'm done here."

"Alright, good night."

"Good night, Sana," Dahyun murmured softly.

As Sana made her way to her room, Dahyun settled onto the couch. She couldn't help but repeat the events of the evening in her head as she closed her eyes—the chaos, the unexpected reunion, and the quiet appreciation she felt for Sana for allowing her back, even if just for a night.

This is a step, she thought, acknowledging the progress made tonight.

Dahyun carefully lifted Kylo into her arms and, with deliberate steps, walked him to the bathroom.

Wait, where is the bathroom?

She stopped in the hallway, momentarily confused. The unfamiliarity of Sana's flat caused her to realize she didn't know where she was going. Kylo, on the other hand, appeared to understand the situation, confidently pointing in a direction.

Following Kylo's lead, they soon reached the bathroom. She paused when they stood in front of the toilet
