All The Sound We Cannot Hear
Description
Two prodigiously talented pianists Hwang Yeji and Shin Yuna are bitter rivals fated to clash in the riveting scene of South Korean classical music. Self-discovery, love, and contempt burn between ivory keys while mania leads to love.
Foreword
Hello again everyone!
Thanks for choosing to read this, as this will likely be one of the last stories I’ll be writing for an indefinite period of time. It’s as much of an ode to Hwangshin as it is to my personal love for the piano.
I want to acknowledge that the Yuna in this story seems a little more weathered and quite a bit more pessimistic than her usual bubbly self. I think it’s more relatable, at least for me, and I couldn’t help but write her that way. When you pour in everything you have and still lose every time, what does that do to the human psyche? This is the Yuna who loses. That’s a question I wanted to ask.
For those of you who’d like to listen to the pieces of music explicitly referenced in the fic, I’ve compiled it all into a neat playlist:
Enjoy!
