Decision
Tomorrow’s Cost“The winner for the Best New Artist is—..”
The crowd starts screaming.
“…can you guess who it is?” The host of the award show asks.
Screams get louder.
“She’s THE most Beautiful woman in the wor—..”
The host couldn’t be heard with all the yelling.
“AND THE WINNER IS—“
BLEEP!
A girl sighs.
“…I can’t believe so many people watch that stuff.”
“Seul! I was watching!”
“You already know who the winner is.” She slumps on the sofa next to her best friend.
“Still!! I wanted to see her outfit!”
“Wan, it’s just an award show. She’s not even performing.”
“For someone who manages her, you’re very unsupportive.”
Seulgi rolls her eyes. “I don’t manage her, the company does.”
“Same, thing.” Wendy shrugs. “Imagine the people finding out the owner of the company dislikes her own artists… OUCH!”
She gets whacked with a pillow.
“I don’t own the company.. Well at least not yet. AND I don’t dislike her. I just don’t understand the obsession.”
Wendy hugs the pillow that assaulted her.
“Obsession is quite harsh…her fans are in love with her.”
“Whatever.”
“What’s up with you… you’ve been grumpy for a while now.”
“…nothing.” Seulgi grabs her phone and starts tinkering with it.
“Just spill already.”
Nothing.
“Well.. I’ll get going then.” Wendy throws the pillow at her friend. “Revenge!!! 😜” She stuck her tongue out and left the place.
Seulgi knew she should call her friend later. She wasn’t wrong about her being grumpy lately. It’s just that lately she was feeling like nothing different is happening. Like she reached the end of her life. She says this because, Seulgi, although young has achieved all her goals and dreams. So everyday feels the same at this point.
(Next Day)
Unsurprisingly the day went by fast. Nothing new, nothing different, nothing out of of the ordinary. Just a little sadder, a little bit more numb.
Seulgi walks to her car in the parking building. In front of her was a couple. She quietly listened to them laughing. The girl drools accidentally as she laughed which made the boy laugh. The embarrassed girl tries to wipe her drool on her boyfriend’s sleeve. The boy exaggeratedly runs away, unfortunately tripping and slamming his face on a post.
They all laugh. Even Seulgi. That was unexpected.
“Oh! Ms. Kang!” The boy sheepishly soothes his face.
“You okay?” She giggles.
“Y-yes, ma'am!”
His girlfriend laughing next to him.
“Hehe relax!”
They bow to Seulgi.
“You two look very happy!”
They both smile.
“…I’m in love—“
“WE’RE in love.” The boy corrects.
Seulgi smiled politely.
“Love is costly but she’s worth it.”
Seulgi nods. “I’ll see you guys tomorrow.”
(After Dinner)
Seulgi washed her plate, mind flying. The word love was plaguing her mind since the little chat she had earlier.
She looks at her fridge. At the photos she stuck on it. She used a large magnet to pin the photo on it. She scoffs.
“Damn it Wan.” She dries her hands. She takes the two magnets and turns them around, from 9
