PROLOGUE

“Unnie-yah! Come out now! Joon oppa is here!” Jung Eunhye yelled from the front yard.

‘This is no use. No matter what I do, it would be still useless!’ Eunjo muttered, plopping down on the bed. For the past half an hour, she was trying to make her hair pretty, twisting here and there and clipping on cute hair clips.

She walked over to the window and peeked. Lee Joon and her younger sister Eunhye had started playing already without her. As usual, they’d play ‘House’. There will be a dad, a mom and a baby. The two young girls had always liked Lee Joon because he let them play with him, unlike the other boys in their neighbourhood. They’re the only ones whom he plays with girl games like these. But of course, it doesn’t come free. Lee Joon always asks Eunjo to play foot ball with him ever Saturdays and Wednesdays.

“Ya! Jung Eunjo-yah! Aren’t you coming down?!” She heard Lee Joon yelled.

She sighed, admitting defeat. Every start of their play, Lee Joon would always choose who becomes the mom and who becomes the baby. It was pretty simple. Lee Joon just sits and acts like a dad.

“What took you so long?” Lee Joon asked, his tone rather annoyed. Eunjo saw that Eunhye already become the ‘mom’. She had put on the apron already and started playing with the plastic cooking toys.

“Were you actually trying to look pretty, Unnie?” Eunhye asked innocently, giggling in the process. “So Joon oppa would choose you this time, right?” Eunjo felt her face warmed. As much as it was true, she didn’t want to admit it. Of course, it would be nice to become the mom for once. Despite being older than Eunhye, Eunjo is always the baby and never the mom.

“N-no! Why would I?” Eunjo exclaimed, slowly making her way towards them. How can her 8 year old sister be so observant? Was she too obvious?

Suddenly, Lee Joon laughed. He was really laughing so hard.

“Yeah. Why would you? As if I would choose you.” Lee Joon snorted and laughed obnoxiously. Lee Joon caught little Eunhye’s eyes and they laughed together.
