Dinner Date

Description

You are a school teacher ready to get home and take a rest but a particular neighbor has other plans for your Friday night.

Oneshot of you & Jackson Wang.

Foreword

I drop my bag pack on the floor of my apartment and fall into my comfortable couch. Being a teacher is extremely rewarding but it’s a thankless job. I love my students, but they drain the bejeezus out of me. My phone starts ringing but I don’t even have any energy to reach into my bag for it.

“I just need like 10 seconds of uninterrupted silence and some breathing exercises, and I will be okay,” I tell myself as I turn on my back so I’m able to stare at the ceiling.

“Sam?” I hear a familiar voice call my name and a knock on my front door. “Are you home yet?” He asks loudly and I sigh.

“Yes, I’m just lying on the couch drained. What do you need Jackson?” My hands reach up to my face and I try to make everything around me dark.

“I need your help with something, but it can wait, I’ll leave the door to my apartment unlocked.”

“Okay… be there in a second.” I half shout and sigh once again.

Jackson is my very friendly neighbor, who loves asking me for help with almost anything. He cannot cook to save his life and is terrified of anything that moves. Do I mind? I do not because this man is absolute eye candy. The first time I saw him, I was carrying some boxes into my apartment, but I stupidly ended up dropping them because he was just a sight to behold. The loud noise caught his attention, and he was nice enough to help me. We’ve been kind of friends ever since, we quickly jumped from saying hi to each other in the lobby to having dinner at least twice a week but in my defense, I don’t think his habit of take-out is healthy, so I take it upon myself to at least have two home-cooked meals a week with him.

I enjoy my time with him a lot but lately, I have been noticing these feelings. For example, he’s gotten a habit of hugging me now and I am a bit ashamed of where my thoughts wander when I feel his strong arms wrap around me. The way he puts his chin on my shoulder while I hover over the stove is so adorable and the way his voice sounds so sweet when he calls my name. Okay, you get the idea, right? I need to get it together though because I am way out of this man’s league. I sit up after a while and decide on changing my clothes before heading over. I of course try my best to at least look pretty because even if he doesn’t see me the same way I see him, I can at least feel good about myself.

I open the door to his apartment slightly and knock on it at the same time. “Jackson, I’m coming in.” I half shout and I hear a clattering of pans in the kitchen.

“I’m in the kitchen, come on in!” He half shouts back and I head over to see him kneeling on the floor looking through his pans and pots.

“Mmmm, whatcha doing?” I chuckle and hoist myself up on the island near him.

“Well, I was thinking of cooking, but the recipe says I need a saucepan…. How do I know the difference?” He turns to me with puppy dog eyes and a pout.

“Oh, you sweet baby angel, what are you trying to make?” I ask while I try to hold my laughter.

“It’s this steak with a balsamic vinegar sauce and some mashed potatoes.” He reaches for his phone next to him and pulls up the recipe to show me.

“Wow, fancy. Do you… have a date or something?” I try to ask in a cool manner, but I feel disappointment settling in the bottom of my stomach.

He pulls back his phone and I can see a blush appear faintly on his cheeks. “More like I am trying to impress someone…” He rubs the back of his neck and looks at the floor.

“Oh…” I chuckle and give him a small smile. “Well, I bet she will be very impressed, who doesn’t love a handsome man that can cook, right?” I stand up and point at a pan. “That’s the one you are looking for… I’ll let you do your thing before she arrives.”

“Thanks, you are the best!” He picks it up and holds it up like a trophy.

“I try.” I turn and start heading out of the kitchen.

“W-wait, where are you going?” I hear some clattering once again and Jackson rushes in front of me.

“Just going back home, I had a tiring day, so I just want to rest a bit. Besides, you have a date to take care of, I don’t want to impose.” I try not to look directly at him, the last thing he needs right now is to deal with a moody neighbor that had her feelings hurt because she couldn’t keep them in check.

“Aww come on, you can rest here. Please don’t leave, I need someone to keep tabs on me so that I don’t end up burning down the whole building.” He grabs my arms and pulls me into a hug.

I wrap my arms around his waist and put my head against his chest. I know it’s selfish to take advantage of this moment, but I am tired, kind of sad and he’s so comfortable. His cologne is like aromatherapy for me, and I can’t help but angle my head up a bit so that I can find that perfect spot underneath his head. He places his chin on top of my head and starts drawing circles on my back. This is the longest we’ve hugged but it doesn’t feel odd or weird. I feel at home in his arms and as that thought crosses my mind, I feel myself getting sadder.

“Jackson…” I say softly, my breath hitting his skin like a light feather.

He shivers and hums in a way I know he is asking me to continue but he doesn’t let go. Hell, I think he even tightened his arms around me even more. I blush at the thought and clear my throat a bit.

“I forgot…what I was going to say.”

He chuckles and pats me on the back. “Okay, well go ahead and go lay down. I’ll call you over if I need your help.” He pulls back and I instantly look up at him.

He gives me a small but sweet smile. I return the smile and notice how close we are. The blood rushes to my cheeks and I immediately make my way to the living room to my surprise it’s arranged in a way that you can see the city in the distance and the sun slowly setting from afar. There was a blanket on top of the sofa and a beautiful arrangement of flowers set in the middle of his center table. He is probably planning on having an indoor picnic with his date. She is lucky, Jackson is an extremely thoughtful person and I know he will make his future wife very happy. I lay down on the couch and spread the blanket over me. I can hear Jackson humming and occasionally panicking slightly but he never calls for my name. My eyes close and I fall asleep to my ASMR of daily life with Jackson Wang.

My senses are awakened by soft fingers gracing my cheek, unintentionally my lips curl into a smile and I hear Jackson chuckle softly.

“Hey, I am all done.”

I open my eyes slowly and nod a bit. “Okay, I’ll be heading out now then.” I sit up and try to stifle a yawn.

When my eyes adjust, I see that it’s already dark outside but several dim lights are shining around the room.

“What’s up with the candles? Did the electricity go out? Oh, Jackson, you didn’t manage to cut the circuit somehow?” I and he rolls his eyes a bit.

“Thank you for the vote of confidence but no, I just wanted to set the mood.” He stands up straight and offers me his hand.

I stare at his hand for a second and then look at him. “Mmm okay?” I stand up but I do not take his hand.

“I put my hand out so you could take it.” He says in a strong but soft voice.

The hairs on my back stand and I blush uncontrollably due to being called out so bluntly.

“Can you stop doing that?” I ask in a whiny voice.

“Doing what?” He asks confused and takes my hand.

“Making me feel like I have a chance with you…” I confess as I move my head and stare up at him.

His face changes from confused to amused and that fuels something in me that I didn’t know I had in me.

“Are you making fun of me right now?” I ask annoyed and pull my hand away from him. “I’m leaving.” I push past him but before I can take another step, he pulls me towards him and traps me with his arms.

“Sam, I’m not making fun of you. I’m just relieved to know you feel the same way.” He murmurs as he buries his face on the side of my neck.

I freeze and stop breathing. “I’m sorry, what?” I try to turn so that I am facing him, but he stops me.

“Wait… I don’t think I can do this if you are looking at me.” He says shyly and takes a deep breath before continuing. “There’s no date, the person I want to impress is you. From the moment we met 6 months ago I’ve just loved to be around you. Getting to know you has been amazing and I couldn’t help myself anymore, I need you to know how I feel about you.” He loosens his grip on me and I turn around in his arms.

“Jackson, I am not dreaming, am I?” I ask amused and he looks up with a small smile.

“You want me to pinch you so you can find out?” I laugh a bit and slap his arm playfully.

“No! I just… I can’t believe this is happening. I enjoy the time I spend with you a lot and I like you… I like you so much.” I am so aware of the flood rushing through my body that I don’t notice his face getting closer to mine.

“Now I’m the one that feels like they are dreaming.” He caresses my cheek with one of his hands and I lean onto it.

“You want me to smack your arm again?” I ask playfully and he chuckles.

“No, but I know of a way to figure out of this is real or not.”

“Oh? How so?”

He closes the gap between us, and I feel his lips press softly against mine. They are soft, and warm and taste a bit like wine. I part my lips slightly and kiss him a bit more comfortably and he responds. After some seconds that felt like forever, he pulls back, and I open my eyes.

“I want to continue kissing you, but I did make dinner for you, and I am excited to hear what you think.” He grins and kisses my forehead.

“Say no more sir, I am starving.” I start walking to the dining room and being the gentleman that he is he pulls the chair out for me to sit down.

The evening passes with good food, a few laughs, a lot of cuddling, and overall, just a great time.

“It’s getting late but I don’t want to leave,” I said softly against his chest.

“Well… if it’s not too bold of me to offer, just stay. Tomorrow is a Saturday, and you don’t work and neither do I. I promise to be a gentleman, I won’t even sleep in the same place if you don’t want me to.” He states hopefully and I chuckle.

“Are you serious? You’d be okay with me staying?” I pull back a bit so that I can look at him and he nods.

“Okay… I’ll take you up on that offer.” I poke his nose and he grins.

“Let’s go watch a movie then, I moved the TV to my room. Is that okay with you?” He asks sheepishly.

“Wow Wang, you are already making your move?” I smirk and he blushes like crazy.

“Hey, hey, hey, I told you I am a gentleman…” he crosses his arms and turns his headway from me. “Besides, that’s a weak excuse to be intimate with your partner. You’ll know whenever we get to that point.” He mumbled enough for me not to hear him.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t catch that.” I make him look at me.

“Nothing, nothing, let’s go! Let’s watch Iron Man.” He stands up excitedly and I groan.

“Again? But we watched it last week.” I pout and he pokes my lips.

“Who said I was going to pay attention to the movie?” He winks and I choke a bit on my saliva.

“Ahh… lead the way…” I bite my lip and he offers me his hand.

“My lady.” I take his hand and he kisses it.

“You are going to be the death of me Jackson Wang.”

The end.
