Do you love me?

"Yeah I'm not feeling so well. No I promise I'll be at school tomorrow I just needed a day to rest. No you don't need to bring me anything I promise. Okay. Bye I'll see you tomorrow." She hung up the phone sighing to herself. "What am I gonna do?..." Suddenly she felt her body involuntary begin to double over as a steering pain shot through her stomach. "Ow ow no!" A tall woman with long black hair walked into the room a worried expression on her face. "Soojin?! What's wrong are you okay?" Through watery eyes Soojin looked up at the woman knelt beside her bed. "I-it hurts unnie..." She felt the pain getting more and more intense until...

Hours later she awoke to a soft beeping sound. She began to open her eyes but found an unbearably bright light beaming down on her. A groan left her dry throat as she moved her achy arm up to block the light. As she opened her eyes she saw her sister asleep sitting in a chair beside the bed with her head laid on the side of the bed. "Unnie..." She croaked out as she placed her hand on the older womans shoulder. "Unnie wake up.." The older woman lifted her head her eyes widening as she climbed to her fear hastily. "Soojin you're awake!" She pulled her little sister close to her in a bone crushing hug as tears began to run down her cheeks. "You scared me so bad..." She let her out of the hug but knelt down holding her face as she studied it. "How are you feeling?" Soojin couldn't help but cry as she felt responsible for the older womans pain. "I-I'm sorry unnie.." The older woman sighed and kissed her forehead. "Hey no no crying. And no apologizing for something you cannot control. It's me remember?..." She looked at her for a moment. "You must be thirsty let me go get you some water." She got up again. "I'll be back soon I promise." She hurriedly left the room in search of something for the girl to drink.

There was a knock on the door only moments later. "You don't have to knock unnie..." The door cracked open revealing Minnie holding a stuffed bear. "I don't think I'm the unnie you meant but am I still welcome?" Soojin looked at her wiping her eyes trying to make herself look presentable. "Come in." Minnie smiled softly and opened the door wider coming into the room. She gave the teddy bear to Soojin and sat at the foot of the bed. "How are you feeling? Are you going to tell me what's up?" Soojin slumped back in the bed a dejected look on her face. "I don't want to talk about it. It's stupid..." Minnie leaned in gently patting the girls leg. "Soojin-ah. You ended up in the hospital. It's not stupid whatever it is. It's important for you so it's important to me." Soojin looked down. "I-I was coughing up petals..." Minnie widened her eyes a bit. "Oh... Who is it?" Soojin shook her head as tears rushed to her eyes. "I-It's not important..." Suddenly the door opened and a tired and panicked looking Miyeon came into the room. "I came as soon as I heard! I'm sorry I took so long!" Soojin sat up wiping her eyes. "Unnie what are you doing here? I thought you were in Busan visiting family? You shouldn't have come back I'll be out by tonight it's no big." The older woman crossed her arms flicking her blonde hair back out of the way. "Seo Soojin stop that. I know you think that you're not important but you are. And if you think I won't rush here even if I was halfway across the world you're wrong! Now tell me what happened." Minnie looked at Soojin then at Miyeon. She could tell by the subtle wrinkle forming between the younger womans brow that she was hesitating to tell the truth. "She's got Hanahaki's disease." Miyeon's eyes widened. "Who on earth is crazy enough?!" Soojin looked down. "Unnie please... Just cause y'all... Just cause y'all think I'm enough doesn't mean everyone will..." Miyeon shook her head. "Stop it! That's dumb anyone would be lucky to be with you! Just tell me who it is. Is it that Hui boy? I'll go knock some sense into him." Minnie stood up grabbing both of Miyeon's arms gently but firmly and making her sit on the bed. "Okay Miyeon this isn't what Soojin needs right now you're stressing her out." Miyeon looked down mumbling. "I'm sorry Soojin..."

As she gazed at the older woman she felt it again. A sudden tightening feeling as if a dozen little thorns were digging into her. She coughed and coughed each movement seeming to inflict more and more pain. "Soojin!" She heard someone calling out to her but wasn't able to focus on anything but the pain. "Nurse please do something!" Her vision began to go blurry as she passed out again when the pain became to much.

She began to come to again this time there was a pressure on legs. "Shuhua what did I tell you about laying on her!" Someone harshly whispered. "But I need to comfort my JinJin unnie!" Soojin opened her eyes groggily to see Soyeon sitting in a chair with her feet up at the end of the bed as Yuqi stood to the side bickering with Shuhua. "Look what you did you woke her up." Yuqi looked at the taiwanese girl accusingly. "Jin-ah!" Said girl jumped up falling to the floor clumsily as she stumbled to get to her side. "Jin-ah what happened?!" Soojin couldn't help but smile as the younger woman looked almost like a lost puppy. "Shuhua I'm fine." She tried to reassure her. The girl crossed her arms pouting. "Hey hey hey! What did that girl on the TV say? Friends don't lie!" Soojin sighed with a smile. "Fine. Come here."

She scooted a bit and motioned for Shuhua to sit beside her on the bed. "Be careful Shu. Don't move the wires to much." Soyeon warned. "I'll be careful." The younger girl climbed into the bed carefully moving the wires as to not disrupt them. Soojin leaned her head onto the girls shoulder. "I will be fine. I just have to... Well I'll have to have the surgery." Shuhua looked a little panicked. "But unnie you'll lose your ability to love. You know what they say..." Soojin nodded. "It's a fate worse than death to not be able to love. But you know what else they say." Shuhua pouted. "Even when removed a love pure enough can cause the return of ones feelings." Shuhua recited as she'd heard it many times. "Exactly. So if I have the surgery we will just have to hope that someday someone will bring it back." Shuhua huffed as she crossed her arms. "But what if it doesn't happen? Most people don't have that." Soojin hummed thoughtfully. "Then I'll be without. But I will still be me. I'll still cook for you. I'll still nag you about schoolwork. And I'll still have all of you by my side." Shuhua looked down nodding. "What if... What if they love you back and you don't know? And it's not quite pure enough." Soojin smiled. "Well even if I ask for the surgery now it will be a month before I am able to have it so I've got time." Shuhua nodded. "Time to make your beloved fall in love with you." Soojin nodded. She didn't have much hope but she could never be the one to squash the other girls dreams.

By the end of the night Soojin was released. A nurse stood at her bedside with bottles of medicine in hand. "Okay now remember..." She looked at Soojin then at her sister who was listening intently. "This pill is in the morning. It will help quell the symptoms over the course of the day. Take it as soon as you wake up even before breakfast." She showed a bottle with little green pills in it. "These ones are for night time they are a little stronger and will make it easier to sleep. Only take them if you're having trouble because of the hanahaki and do not take more than three nights in a row that's very important." She showed a bottle with pale yellow circles. "And this is an emergency inhaler. It seems your symptoms are pretty severe so if you start to feel afflicted again take two puffs. Breathe all the air out put it to your lips pump it once it in repeat." Soojin nodded. "You said you wanted the surgery. You're sure?" Soojin nodded as a frown formed on her lips. "It's my only choice if she doesn't love me by now she won't." The nurse nodded sympathetically. "I had the surgery too. It's really not so bad. You get most of your love back eventually it's just the romantic type that doesn't come so easy." Soojin nodded and felt her sisters hand on top of her own squeezing it affectionately. "I've already taken off of work for two months. So I will be able to be with you through recovery too." The nurse smiled a bit. "You're very brave kid and with Joohyun with you I'm sure you'll get through it just fine." Soojin took a moment before she realized the woman had called her sister by name. "Oh uh Soojin this is my friend Sunny. I told you about her." Soojin just nodded absentmindedly. "Can we go home?" Joohyun looked up at the nurse who nodded. "Yeah I'll go sign you out. Nice meeting you Soojin." She left the room.

After another hour they were home. "What do you want for dinner? I can make your favorite." Soojin just walked to the stairs holding the bear she'd recieved close to her chest. "I'm not hungry I just want to sleep. Goodnight unnie... I love you..." She went up to her room throwing herself into her bed as she began to shrug off the sweater she had worn to the hospital. Taking a moment to shift lazily across the bed she finally found a position that would work for her. As her eyes began to flutter closed a soft vibrating from under her stomach frightened her. She Shifted to the left leaning against the wall as she grabbed the offending object. "I didn't realize I left my phone..." She lifted the phone to her ear lazily not bothering to see who was calling. "Soojin? Hey why didn't you tell me you'd left the hospital? I brought you dinner." Soojin smiled a bit as she recognized the soft melodic voice on the other side. "You didn't have to do that. You should take it to Shuhua and eat it together." She heard a tapping on her window causing her to peer outside. As she looked she saw Miyeon tapping. "Let me in." Her voice came through phone. Soojin hung up and made her way to the opposite side of the room. As she clicked open the latches she had a moment to take in the sight. In other circumstances it would be comedic the way the older woman clung to the wall.

"Why can't you use the door like a normal person?" Soojin questioned quietly a small smile growing no matter how she tried to suppress it. "Have I ever been normal?" The bedroom door swung open and Joohyun stood on the other side holding two pairs of chopsticks. "I thought you'd need these. Miyeon did you need a drink?" The woman puffed her cheeks embarrassed. "How'd you know I was here? I was extra sneaky!" Joohyun just smiled at her. "You forget that my bedroom is directly below hers. I walked in and saw your lovely green sneakers dangling from above." Soojin couldn't help but laugh at the girls expense. "Oh yeah super sneaky." She shook her head. "Thank you unnie. I'll wash these later." She took the chopsticks and moved to sit on the bed. Joohyun left closing the door behind her. "Your sister is to smart. I'll never be able to sneak by her." Miyeon took her shoes off placing them neatly in the corner on a mat that Soojin had put in place just for occasions like this. The older woman plopped down on the bed placing the take out container between them. "I got dumplings noodles and Tea." She held up a cup of boba tea and a big straw beside it. "What flavor?" Soojin asked as she took it not recognizing it from the look. "Butterfly pea flower and lemon you mix it together and it turns pink." She held her own cup up and swirled it around causing it to mix inside the cup. They both watched as the color shifted from a blue to a pink color. "Does it taste good?" The older woman shrugged. "Only one way to find out." She pushed her straw into the lid of the drink and took a sip. Her eyebrows met in the middle a slight wrinkle forming on her otherwise smooth skin as she thought. "Hmm..." She took another sip. "Oh yeah it's good." She smiled brightly. "Go on try it." The younger girl shook her head but did as she was told. She took a tentative sip letting the flavor wash over her tongue as it pleasantly surprised her. "I like it. We should get it more often."

They settled in and began to eat. The silence between them was normally a very comfortable thing as neither of them liked to talk while they ate. But something about this one was different. It hung heavily in the air like a weight resting on both of their shoulders. "Shuhua told me you're getting the surgery..." Miyeon looked at Soojin with a look of soft concern. "If you're sure it's what you want I won't push. I just want to know who it is and why you think that's the better option." The younger woman sighed laying her chopsticks down into the container. "It's to much. She doesn't love me. All these years I've loved her without knowing. And suddenly when I realized what I felt this happened. She's always been more accepting so I thought if anything she would be the first to know but... Here we are." Miyeon set her chopsticks down as well taking Soojin's hand. "Who is this girl? Maybe you should tell her what's the worst that can happen?" Soojin looked into her eyes moving her hand away as it was giving her hope a horrible painful hope. "If I tell her and she doesn't realize she feels the same then I've lost a friend and I'll still have to have the surgery. At least this way I keep all my friends." She coughed into her elbow as she tried to reach for her inhaler on the nightstand. The older woman stood quickly and grabbed it pulling the cap off and holding it to the girls lips. "One two three inhale..." She pumped the inhaler as the girl breathed in. "One two three inhale..." They repeated the process. She began to breath more evenly and the pain even began to recede. "Is it that bad even thinking about her?" Soojin nodded as tears began to form in her eyes. "When I think about her as my friend it's okay. But... If I think about how I feel about her and how I want to hold her hand and tell her how much she means to me.... well you know." Miyeon picked up the nearly empty food container and moved it to the nightstand before laying back in the girls bed pulling her to her chest. "Come on it's bed time. You've had a long day." The younger girl allowed herself to be led but looked up at her. "You don't have to stay you can go home if you want." She felt a soft hand running through her hair the tips of the other woman's fingers just barely grazing her skin. "Why would I go home when I can stay here and keep the Seo Soojin company. Do you know how many other students at our school would kill for this opportunity?" She joked. "Just sleep nothing else matters right now." Soojin rested her head on the girls chest taking in the sound of her heart beating as well as the slow calm breathes. Her eyes closed slowly as she focused in on the sounds counting along to each breath she took. "One...Two... Three...four..." Before she knew it she was drifting off to sleep.

As the first morning light sprang through the curtains and the birds began to chirp the girl tried to stretch. She suddenly became aware of a face pressed into her chest. Looking down she spotted a familiar head of brown hair. She couldn't help but smile as she felt a sense of purpose knowing she could give comfort to someone she cared so deeply for. As her mind wondered her hand began to make it's own way through her hair. Over and over and over again she repeated the same action. Through her hair over and over again until... There was a light knock. "Hey it's time to get up. You've got to get ready for school. If you hurry you can both get in a shower." Miyeon looked and saw Joohyun standing at the door her hair still in a messy bun as she had only woken up a little before. "Thank you Unnie. I'll wake her up." Joohyun left and went to make breakfast.

Miyeon shifted a bit pulling Soojin away from her chest carefully. "Hey it's time to wake up sleeping beauty." She very gently ran her thumb down the length of the girls nose a soft chuckle escaping as she watched how her nose wrinkled from the action. "Five more minutes." Miyeon hummed pretending to think before climbing out of the bed. She picked up the girl from the bed carrying her on her back to the closet to grab two uniforms and towels. With her hands full she struggled to open the door. "Turn..." She heard a soft mumble and chuckled as she knew what the girl meant. She turned crouching a bit letting Soojin turn the knob. Once they got through that obstacle she made her way down the hall she knew well by now. "Are you gonna go first or should I?" Soojin climbed down off of her and sat on the floor. "You first I take longer." Miyeon nodded blew a kiss before going into the bathroom.

Ten minutes later Miyeon immerged from the bathroom freshly showered dressed in the other girls uniform. "Everyone's gonna know I stayed over." She commented as even though she herself was small Soojin was just a little bit smaller and the sleeves of the jacket were just short enough to be noticable. A small smile formed on the lips of the younger girl after she swallowed the little green pill. "You can barely tell. and if you wear the longer socks you won't even see your ankles." She grabbed her stuff and made her way into the bathroom. Miyeon went downstairs and to the kitchen where Joohyun was setting the table. "Good morning unnie." Miyeon walked to the door that led to the backyard opening it and turning to the right she spotted her bag behind a bush. She pulled it free gently removing a bird that had perched on top. "You know one of these days you're gonna find a nasty surprise in your bag." Miyeon just smiled at her. "Well it's to heavy to take up with me so I have to leave it there." Joohyun served up breakfast as Miyeon collected utensils from the drawer for them. "I suppose I could give you a house key but it's kind of fun to watch you struggle to climb the wall." Miyeon faked offended. "Unnie that hurts my heart. I'm strong I don't struggle." The older woman smiled and shook her head. "I'll have one made for you just promise you'll lock up behind yourself." Miyeon placed her hand over her heart. "Of course I'd never forgive myself if I didn't and something happened to my second family."

Soojin appeared at the foot of the steps carrying their trash from the night before. "I'm thinking of going to the salon after school. I want to dye my hair again." She sat at the table in her usual spot as the two other women took their places as well. "What color?" Miyeon asked as she began to eat. Soojin took a bite as she seemed to stare off into space. "Red?" She looked at the two women trying to guage an opinion. "Are you sure you should go? I don't want you being anywhere by yourself for to long." Joohyun looked concerned. "I can go with her. I need a touch up my roots are starting to show." Joohyun nodded. "You know what to do in case of an emergency right?" She nodded swallowing before reciting. "Two puffs of the inhaler. Then call you. If it's still bad call an ambulance then you." Joohyun nodded. "Good girl. Now hurry up and eat you're gonna be late for school if you aren't out the door in five minutes."

Miyeon and Soojin walked through the door to the school. "Miyeonnnnn." She heard a familiar cute voice calling her name. She turned and smiled as she saw who was calling to her. A cute girl with a big smile and long dirty blonde hair was walking her way. "I missed you what happened to our date yesterday?" The girl pouted as she hugged Miyeon. "Ah well Soojin had to visit the emergency room so I spent the night with her. "I'm sorry I didn't call or anything I was to worried. Let me make it up to you?" The girl made a face as if she were thinking tapping her chin as she comically raised an eyebrow. "I'll let you make it up to me with a kiss!" She leaned in puckering her lips.

Luckily Just as Soojin began to feel the familiar tightening feeling she heard a voice coming from down the hall. "Jin-ah!" Shuhua clumsily ran her way. "Jin-ah come on I want to walk you to class!" Soojin nodded. "Bye Miyeon unnie bye Sana Unnie." She quickly turned and began to walk twords her class. She fumbled in her pocket holding onto the inhaler as she was scared to have another attack. Shuhua noticed and furrowed her brows. "Are you okay? Do we need to leave?" Soojin shook her head and pulled the inhaler out. Breathe out pump inhale breathe out pump inhale. She focused her eyes back on a worried Shuhua. "Come on lets go to the nurse." Soojin her head again. "Hey I'm okay I've got my inhaler. As long as I take it in time I'm fine." Shuhua looked unconvinced but just nodded. "This is the only class you don't share with one of our friends I don't like it..." Soojin smiled. "I share it with Eunbi I'll make sure to explain to her. She was worried when she didn't see me in class yesterday anyway." Shuhua nodded. "Okay... I gotta go. It looks like Eunbi unnie is already in there go tell her now." Soojin watched the girl walk away before entering her classroom. "Soojin nice of you to show up today. What happened?" The teacher stood looking at the girl expecting an answer. Soojin sighed softly and looked around to make sure no one would hear her. "I had to go to the hospital yesterday..." She pulled the inhaler from her pocket showing it to the older woman. It was unmistakably for Hanahaki everyone knew what they looked like. "Oh dear..." The teacher looked sympathetically at the girl. "You shouldn't be back here so early. Is the person in this class? I can move your seat if it helps" Soojin smiled softly and shook her head. "We only have sixth period together but I don't want to be away from them. I have my medicine and I'll be taking the surfing five weeks." The older woman nodded solemnly. "Understood. Well if you feel the need you may go to the restroom at any time. You don't even have to ask." Soojin bowed. "Thank you." She made her way to her seat in the back directly next to her friend. Hwang Eunbi. "So who is it?" She asked without hesitation. "What do you mean?" Soojin decided to play dumb. "Come on I saw the inhaler. No one else did. Spill who is it." Soojin sighed softly. "I swear if you do anything I'm never talking to you again." She pinched her fingers together dragging them across her lips as if to pull an invisible zipper. "It's Miyeon unnie..." The other girl took a moment and nodded. "Got it. You know if you told her..." Soojin looked at her and shook her head. "She'd not reciprocate and she would just feel guilty. I don't want that for her." Eunbi hummed. "Your choice. Here's yesterday's notes by the way. Color coded and everything. Cause I'm-" The other girl cut her off as she looked at them. "Cause you photocopied Yewon's" Eunbi pouted. "Can you at least pretend I'm smart? Just once that's all I ask." Soojin chuckled softly. "You're smart just not book smart. And definitely not organized like this. This is definitely a Yewon thing. Thank you."

Hours ticked by in every class she had a friend to help her. Second period was science with Shuhua. Third was math with Shuhua again. For forth She had English with Soyeon. She watched as the clock ticked by. The small woman faced her speaking English with a heavy accent. "Hey girl. Do you want to have lunch with me?" Soojin scrambled to remember what she meant. "Uhh no... Oh wait yes!" Soyeon held up one thumb with a smile. "Let's go!" Just as she did the bell rang. "Oh wow so amazing." Soojin continued to speak in English. "So you're eating at the table today and not hiding in the dance hall?" The taller woman grabbed her bag slinging it over her shoulder. "Yeah but I wasn't hiding I was getting in extra practice. I'm definitely gonna be benched when the teacher finds out what happened though so no use in practicing for now." Soyeon sighed dramatically. "Maybe you can temporarily join the production club. I'll teach you how to write songs but... No love songs got it?" Soojin chuckled. "I'm good I'll just hang out in the library and read." Soyeon nodded. "That's probably a good idea."

Soyeon sat on the table with her feet on her seat. "Thanks a lot Soyeon I really wanted to eat with your so close to my food." Yuqi complained. "You didn't complain last time we-" Yuqi shoved a piece of kimbap in shutting her up as her cheeks burned bright red. "Ewwww you two did it?" Shuhua's nose scrunched dramatically as she looked between the couple. "I can't help it that she's so into me. I'm irresistible." Soyeon bragged a bit. "Whatever don't pretend like you've never done anything. I'm still scarred for life after walking in on you and Minnie with her hand in your skirt." Shuhua tried to look innocent as Minnie simply wrapped her arm around the younger womans waist. "Maybe you should knock next time." Yuqi looked annoyed. "I shouldn't have to knock on a supply closet door!" Soojin sat between Yuqi and Shuhua placing her tray down to get in the way of their bickering. "JinJin!" Shuhua leaned in and hugged Soojin nuzzling her shoulder. "Yah Shu be careful what if you're the cause of the hanahaki? You could hurt her on accident." Yuqi complained with a look of disgust as she was annoyed with the other girl. Shuhua gasped and looked at the older woman worriedly. "Unnie am I the cause? Oh no I love Minnie. This is all my fault!" Soojin patted her shoulder. "It's not you I do love you but not like that. You're fine." Minnie hummed. "But just in case I think you should give me all your hugs. You know so no one else falls in love with you." Shuhua puckered her lips. "Oh you just want me all to yourself then?" Sana and Miyeon walked to the table side by side. "Were sitting here today. Make room." They squeezed in sitting side by side. "Oh Soojin! I didn't get a chance to ask this morning. Are you feeling better? Miyeonnie wouldn't tell me what was wrong but I know you were sick yesterday." Soojin smiled softly. Truthfully she had wished she could hate the girl. She really wanted to. But the way she treated Miyeon always so tender and caring and the way she made the girl smile so effortlessly. She knew she couldn't hate her. Because she didn't deserve it. "I'm feeling better." She held up the inhaler for the girl to see. "I have hanahaki. I'm on the waiting list for the surgery." Sana tilted her head. "I'm confused. Anyone on campus would love to be with you how can you have it?" Soojin shrugged. "Well none of them really love me I guess. Anyway I would appreciate you not telling anyone." Sana nodded and smiled. "No problem my lips are sealed." Lunch carried on normally from there as Soojin distracted herself from the reason for her sickness who was sitting just across the table.

Fifth period came and went in a flash and before she knew it Minnie and her were able to leave their history class. "I'll be in the library I think Sana Unnie has her free period in there as an aid so I'll be close to someone I know. Dont worry to much." Minnie nodded and ruffled her hair a bit. "Be good Jin-ah don't stress yourself out." Soojin nodded playfully rolling her eyes. "Yes mom." The older woman laughed softly. "If I'm your mom does that make Shuhua your dad? Better not tell her she won't give up till you call her Daddy." She teased a mischievous smile curling at the side of . Soojin fake gagged. "I'd rather die than call Yeh Shuhua daddy thank you very much. Seeya later unnie." She walked twords the library.

Quickly skimming through the books Soojin found on on Hanahaki's disease. She began to read gathering information on her affliction. 'Upon realization of ones feelings symptoms will begin to occur. A plant like structure will begin to emerge from your stomach triggered by a release of certain proteins from ones own aching heart. Within a week the afflicted will begin to experience symptoms. The severity of which will depend on the strength and purity of ones own love.' As she flipped a page a diagram was shown three sketches of the human body with symptoms explained to the side. Before she could begin to study them she heard two voices one annoyed and one clearly begging.

"Sana Unnie! Stop walking away from me!" Said girl stopped not bothering to look around. "I said no Tzuyu! I can't do it. Please stop asking. Yes I love you but I also love her. And I can't hurt her like that! She's been nothing but good to me she doesn't deserve to go through that!" Tzuyu crossed her arms. "So you're staying just to keep her safe from some disease? Wake up Sana that's not real love! You don't love her!" Sana shook her head. "Then explain to me why she isn't having problems. Cause if I don't love her then that would make our love unrequited and she'd be having symptoms." Tzuyu rolled her eyes. "Sana why are you so dumb she doesn't love you either. She's in love with someone else but she's scared of hurting you too. It happens people grow apart and fall out of love. At least if you talk to her about it you can break up on good terms and keep her as a friend."

Sana crossed her arms. "Fine I'll talk to her but you have to give me time. And if she's not in love with me who is she in love with?" Soojin thinking about all the possibilities began to cough as the thought that maybe Miyeon did love her back crossed her mind. But if she loved her she wouldn't have to deal with this pain anymore right? 'Until the feelings are known...' She coughed more flower petals spewed from as she fell to the floor coughing. The tightening in her chest was almost unbearable.

"Soojin?! Tzuyu go get Miyeon! And the nurse!" The younger woman ran out a look of fear on her face as Sana quickly made her way to Soojin's side. She gently lifted her head onto her lap. " what do I do? Do you have an inhaler?" Soojin nodded weakly as her vision began to get blurry again as tears streaked across her cheeks. "Sorry for this..." Sana began to pat her pockets to find it. As soon as she located it she pulled the cap off and pressed it to the girls lips. "Okay okay uhh..." She pumped it unsure how to properly do it. Soojin inhaled the best she could and looked up at Sana with watery eyes. "More?" The girl asked a look of panic crossing her delicate features. A small nod signaled Sana to pump it again. Soojin closed her eyes as the inhaler began to take effect. Soon she couldn't feel the pain anymore and only had a few petals in . "I-I'm sorry..." She mumbled meakly. Sana shook her head releasing a breath of relief. "No no no don't apologize I'm sorry I didn't know what to do." She quickly helped fix the girls uniform as it had ridden up a bit and left her exposed. "Come on I'll help you sit back up." She carefully lifted the girl into the seat taking off her own jacket to place it over her lap carefully. Miyeon came running into the room and knelt in front of Soojin. "What happened? Are you okay?" Soojin nodded and leaned her head back. "Sana Unnie helped..." Miyeon looked up at the older woman as she pulled Soojin into a hug. She tucked the younger womans head under her chin protectively. "Thank you Sana." It was then that Sana realized that maybe Tzuyu was right and she knew who the girl was truly in love with. "A friend of yours is a friend of mine and friends help friends in need. But I'll have to have you teach me how to give her her inhaler just in case I think I fudged it up a little." Soojin reached back patting the older womans arm. "You did fine." The nurse ran in with Tzuyu beside her. "Is she okay? Miss Cho I need you to give me space to do a check up. In fact you can call her sister now." Miyeon hesitantly let go and backed away. "Yes ma'am..." Soojin watched her walk off into the hallway.

After a few tries Miyeon was able to get ahold of Joohyun. "Unnie hey I've been calling for fifteen minutes." Joohyun's voice could be heard on the line a bit worried as she knew the girl wouldn't call if it weren't important. "I was in a meeting. What happened?" Miyeon bit her lip as she began to explain. At the same time the nurse left the room having deemed Soojin as okay but saying she should go home early today. Sana looked nervously at Tzuyu. "Hey Soojin uh... I don't know how much you heard..." Soojin looked at her. "All of it... Just... Be gentle with her..." Sana looked guilty. "I will I promise I know she deserves the world." Sana nodded closing her eyes. "Take your jacket back you must be cold..." Sana couldn't help but smile. "I'll be fine without it til your sister gets here."

Miyeon came back to the room and noticed Sana didn't have a uniform jacket on anymore. "Here. I'll be going home with Soojin anyway." She took Sana's jacket replacing it with her own before helping Sana put hers back on. She kissed her cheek. "I'm sorry I won't be in class forgive me?" Sana smiled softly and hugged Miyeon. "Of course I forgive you. Go take care of Soojin." Miyeon nodded kneeling beside said girl. "You don't have to come with me... You should stay with your girlfriend..." Miyeons brows met in the middle as she looked concerned. "Stop it. What have I told you about trying to push me away? It's not gonna work you don't have to pretend like you're okay I'm here. It's me." Miyeon looked into her eyes pleading for her to accept her words. "Fine... How long til Joohyun unnie is here?" Miyeon looked at the clock. "Five minutes. Will you be okay here while I go collect my stuff from class?" Soojin nodded closing her eyes again. Miyeon kissed the top of her head before running from the room.

As she had dozed off without realizing Soojin came to in her own bed with her feet up on Miyeons lap just behind the laptop she was working on. "Hey sleepy head." Miyeon immediately closed and put her laptop to the side. She leaned to the floor on the end of the bed and pulled up a water bottle opening it for the girl. "Sit up and drink some of this." Soojin did as she was told sitting with Miyeon's hand on her back gently helping her. The older girl brought the bottle to her lips as she gently tilted it letting the girl take a drink. After a moment she took it putting the lid back on and sitting it on the bedside table. She moved up so she was sitting beside Soojin pulling said girl into her lap holding her close. "Hey Soojin..." Soojin looked up at the girl as she paused trying to formulate the question in her head. "Did your attack happen because of... Because you're in love with Sana?" Soojin widened her eyes shaking her head adamantly. "No of course not!" She denied. Miyeon nodded and held her close again. "Just so you know if it were Sana and she came to have feelings for you as well I'd let her go. For the sake of both of you... I don't like seeing you in so much pain..." She cupped the girls cheek gently looking into her eyes. "It's really not her?" Soojin shook her head before nuzzling into her chest.

Miyeon smiled softly. "Good... Are you ever going to tell me who it is?" Soojin shifted so she could look up at the older woman. "Would it matter? You can't make her love me." Soojin held onto the older womans shirt looking into ok her eyes. Miyeon made eye contact with her as her eyes shifted around the different parts of her face. "I already talked to Joohyun unnie she said I could stay for the week. I can't leave without worrying you'll be unwell." She ran the tips of her fingers along the girls cheek up into her hair tucking loose strands behind her ear. Soojin leaned into her hand closing her eyes. "You've got your own life you don't have to stay here..." The older woman stared down at her her lower lip stuck out ever so slightly into a pout. "And you are apart of that life so spending a little extra time with you won't be an issue. Stop trying to get rid of me." She kissed the top of her head.

The next day she got a call from Sana to meet. She walked nervously with her hands shoved deep in her pockets. She had a feeling she knew what this was about but she wouldn't assume. As she approached their spot outside of the empty school she saw the Japanese girl pacing around. "Hey." She greeted hugging the girl from behind. She let her cheek rest against her shoulder for a moment. She could feel the tension in her shoulders and nodded to herself. "What did you want to talk about?" She played dumb wanting to hear it for herself. Sana looked down playing with her fingers. "When did you realize you didn't love me anymore?" Miyeon took her hand concern showing as her features twisted into a small frown. "Why? Are you suffering?" Sana shook her head. "I'm not but neither are you. I mean of course I still love you in a way you're one of the best people I've ever met and an amazing friend. My first love..." Miyeon nodded knowing what she meant. "So then I guess... We're breaking up?" Sana's nose scrunched up as she had a look of disapproval. "Breaking up sounds bad. Like we'll hate each other I don't want that. I still want you in my life as my friend." Miyeon thought for a second then smiled. "Then... It's not breaking up it's just us following our hearts. They just happen to be going in different directions." Sana couldn't help the giggle that escaped. "So have you figured out who you really

love?" Miyeon tilted her head. "No not yet. I'm sure you have though. You were always way better at these things." Sana huffed she knew exactly who Miyeon was meant to be with but she couldn't push. "Tzuyu. She wanted me to do this but I was scared that if I finally admitted it that I would cause problems for you. That was until she pointed out that you had also fallen out of love." Miyeon nodded. "Well then... I guess I'll see you around? I gotta go back to Soojin's I'm to scared to leave her alone for long. It feels like she could slip away from me at any moment..." She admired as her voice cracked a little. She had been worried obviously everyone could tell. But she had been masking just how bad it was. "I just wish I knew who it was that was causing her this pain." Sana sighed. "I'm sure you'll figure it out." She hugged the younger woman tightly. "Go on go be with Soojin she needs you by her side. Text me when you get there safely yeah?" Miyeon nodded. "Same for you. Bye unnie." She headed back twords the house.

Soojin sat at the table sipping her warm tea little bits at a time. "It's Miyeon unnie.." Joohyun looked at her little sister a thoughtful look as she contemplated the situation. "You love her. But she doesn't love you back... Are you sure? I've seen the way she looks at you and takes care of you. Even I couldn't do that." Soojin looked down. There was a look of sadness in her eyes as she put on a small smile. "Hanahaki is never wrong." Joohyun took her sisters hand. "She must not have realized it yet. In any case I can't have her around here triggering another attack." She pulled out her phone to call the girl when Soojins hand shot across the table to stop her. "Unnie no please I just... Let me pretend for just a little while... I like feeling like she sees me as more than a friend..." Joohyun stared behind Soojin for a moment when a very familiar voice was heard. "It's me..?"

Soojin turned to the source of the voice and saw the pain flashing across Miyeons eyes. "Why didn't you tell me I... You should've told me. If I knew I was the reason you were in so much pain I would've stayed away..." Soojin stood up. "I didn't want that. Seeing you is worth the pain. But..." She played with her fingers. "I'll understand if you don't want to be around me now that you know the truth..." Miyeon shook her head. "I've got to go... I need time to think about things..." She walked out of the house leaving her stuff behind.

A few weeks passed and Soojin hadn't been able to talk to Miyeon about the situation. The older girl was avoiding her and she hadn't gone back to school. Her surgery was in three days and she was nervous and scared. "Unnie..." Joohyun sat on her bed with her playing with her hair. "Yes?" she looked up at her. "I miss Miyeon a lot... I can't stop thinking about her..." Joohyun took a moment to think as she had begun to realize something. "Soojin when was the last time you had an attack?" Soojin got to thinking about it. She hadn't had an attack since that day that Miyeon left. She had been so caught up in missing her that she hadn't noticed. "Wait does that mean...?" There was a knock on the window and the two looked over. There was Miyeon clinging to the wall waiting to be let in. Joohyun smiled and left the room as Soojin scrambled to the window. As soon as it was open she pulled the girl into the room wrapping her in a tight hug. "I missed you so much."She mumbled as she buried her face in the girls shoulder. Miyeon just held her gently running her fingers through her hair as she always did. "I'm sorry I wasn't here. I had a lot of thinking to do." She laid a gentle kiss on the top of the shorter woman's head. "Come on lets lay down. And talk about what happened." She took off her shoes shuffling them to the mat where they were meant to stay holding onto Soojin the entire time. She then lifted the girl up into her arms and carried her to the bed. Once in bed and comfortable she pulled away from the girl just a little. "Look at me please?" Soojin looked up at her. Her eyes were clearly puffy and red as she had been crying. Miyeon felt her heart clench at the sight and leaned in kissing her forehead gently. "I'm so sorry I never wanted to hurt you or make you cry." The younger woman looked down wiping her eyes. "What did you expect you left me for three weeks..." Miyeon ran her fingers through her hair again. "I'm deeply sorry for that I was confused..."

A few days before:

Miyeon heard a knock on her door. It sounded extra loud and angry. She sighed and put the ice cream she had been eating down before standing up. She looked down at herself before deciding she didn't care if she was wearing sweats and the visitor wouldn't either. As she went to the door she heard an angry voice she was so to familiar with. "Yah Cho Miyeon get out here!" She opened the door and stepped to the side as an angry Shuhua and worried looking Minne stomped walked in. "Welcome. Long time no see." Shuhua crossed her arms looking at her. "Why don't you love her huh?! She's an angel she has always taken care of you when you needed it and she-" Miyeon cut her off. "I do love her." Shuhua paused taking in the new information. "Then why are you here instead of telling her how you feel!?" Miyeon looked down. "When she told me by accident at first I panicked. I went to Sana and I-" Shuhua grabbed the older womans collar a dangerous glint in her eyes "You realized you love Soojin so you go back to your ex!?" Minnie gently pried Shuhuas hands from the girls collar. "Hey baby why don't you let her talk before you beat her up yeah? There could be more to the story." She held Shuhua this time as to not let her interrupt. Miyeon played with her fingers. "I went to Sana and asked her if she knew that Soojin was in love with me. Apparently she figured it out after seeing us together after Soojin had an attack even she heard Sana talking about me. She told me I was stupid for not realizing yet that I loved her back..." She looked up at them. "I stayed in Sana's guest room that night cause it was to late to be walking home by myself I knew Soojin wouldn't approve but I did realize I love her. But then I was also hurt. I mean all this time I've been in love with her without knowing and I was there taking care of her but apparently I was causing all of this pain I just... I hated the thought that all I had to do was realize I felt the same." Shuhua rolled her eyes annoyed. "That doesn't explain why you've been gone for three weeks." Miyeon looked at Minnie for help. "You want to ask her out but you're not sure if you deserve it anymore. After being gone?" Miyeon nodded she knew that if anyone would understand her it would be Minnie. "Miyeon stop it. Stop beating yourself up. Get dressed and go get your girl."

"So I took Minnie's advice I got to planning and I cleaned up finally got some sleep and well. I'm here. I'm sorry I'm late." Soojin looked up at her her hand coming to rest on her cheek. "What were you planning?" Miyeon flashed a smile at her. "Ah well that's something you'll have to come outside with me for. If you're feeling up to it of course." Soojin nodded starting to get up. "Let me get dressed and look presentable." Miyeon sat up as well and shook her head. "You look fine beautiful even. The most beautiful woman I've ever seen." She took her hand and began to walk twords the window. "Miyeon what are you doing?" Miyeon paused as she was halfway out already. "I'm going outside?" Soojin huffed. "Why do you refuse to use the door?" Miyeon climbed back in and knelt in front of Soojin. "Fine get on my back then." Soojin blushed and did as she was asked although blushing a bit she held onto the woman who held her legs making sure they were wrapped around her waist.

Miyeon began to walk down the stairs as she saw Joohyun in the kitchen she smiled at her. "I'm kidnapping your sister." Joohyun just nodded. "Just make sure you two get back at a reasonable time." Soojin was still blushing as she held on tightly. Once outside Miyeon let her down. "It's not much I wanted to do a lot more but... Anyway umm I made this for us." She took her hand and motioned twords a picnic she had set up on a blanket. Soojin didn't know what to say she felt an overwhelming feeling of love and happiness taking over. She turned to Miyeon nearly knocking her over as she lunged at her for a hug. "So you like it?" Miyeon asked as her arms made their way around the girls waist holding her close. "I love it..." Miyeon couldn't help but smile as she looked into the younger womans eyes. "Hey Soojin?" Soojin just stared back her eyes flickering between the other woman's own. "Yes?" Miyeon bit her lip a bit. "I really want to kiss you but... I need you to say yes to being my girlfriend first..." Soojin stared into her eyes again. "You know the one good thing to come out of Hanahaki is? Now I know for sure you really love me." She leaned in and captured the girls lips as she had wanted to do many times before. Miyeon tightened her hold on the girls waist as she returned the kiss.

As they laid side by side on the blanket with Soojin cuddled into the older womans side Miyeon began to speak. "You know I think I've always loved you I just didn't realize. I know it's always felt right to have you in my arms. I mean how many times have we shared a bed?" Soojin shifted a little to look up at her. "How many times have you climbed in my window because you were worried or sad or just cause you missed me?" She countered. Miyeon flashed her a soft smile. "I love you so much and I promise I'll try my hardest never to cause you pain again."
