I Could Die in this Moment

Forever Young

She's late and in over her head.

Shanghai was a lot of things, but it wasn't home to Yu Yan. After receiving a generous scholarship from the Youth campus in Shanghai, Yu Yan found herself packing her bags and moving 1,207.5 KM south to study vocal performance.

The Youth Campus in Shanghai is known; as a prestigious liberal arts school known for producing well-rounded triple threats. Her school in Beijing focused mainly on developing and training actors and singers.

Not to mention the yearly dance competition that students in the Performing Arts department have to take part in. Yu Yan thought it was like playing Russian roulette by pushing students out of their comfort zone.

Yu Yan can act and sing, but Dancing is an alien world.

Yu Yan quicked her steps while glancing down at her watch, hoping to make it to class before Lisa starts taking role-call.

"You two! Aren't you supposed to be in class?" A voice rings out across the bland-colored walls Yu Yan freezes in her tracks to peer around the corner only to see Daimeng Lǎoshī lecturing the two giant idiots, Keni and SunRui.

"Excuse me, can you tell me where classroom 34 is?"

Yu Yan whipped around her sliver hair briefly, blocking her vision, to be met with the soft voice and an elegant student with short jet black hair, black sweats, and a crop top.

She's pretty.

"Who's there?" The voice of Daimeng boomed across the hall triggering Yu Yan's fight or flight instincts.

Quickly weighing her options, Yu Yan opted for the one where Daimeng didn't catch her. Yu Yan reached for the pretty student's hand and bolted down the hallway toward the classroom.

The sound of shoes squeaking across the freshly polished tiles could be heard as it thundered in Yu Yan's ears. While her gym bag haphazardly thumped against Yu Yan's back, she dragged the short-haired student behind her.

Finally coming to a stop to catch her breath Yu Yan checked over her shoulder for Daimeng. Letting out a sigh of relief, she turned her attention back to the slightly shorter girl, who had a slight rose dusting on her cheeks. Yu Yan couldn't help but look at their laced hands and couldn't help but blush at how well their hands fit together.

"Excuse me?"

Yu Yan couldn't help but look back at the other woman slightly flabbergasted, quickly dropping her hand and pulling herself together, and finally urging herself to talk.

"... Oh umm, sorry, I'm Yu Yan. I took the long way so we can avoid getting yelled at by Daimeng Lǎoshī. You said you were going to class 34, you'd better hurry or we'll be late, I'll see you in class!"

Mentally kicked herself, Yu Yan prided herself on being one of the Ice Queens with confidence on the Youth campus, but this stranger had melted her defense and turned her into a puddle. Quickly she her heels so the beautiful stranger wouldn't notice the blush that was quickly working its way up her neck.

Nice to meet you too, Yu Yan.

Jiaqi couldn't help but let a smirk grace her red lips before straightening her back gracefully and gliding into the classroom.

Jiaqi felt surrounded by students absently milling about the classroom, doing stretches to chatting quietly in the corner. Jiaqi quickly discarded her gym bag at the front of the class and pulled out a clipboard that Lisa had given her.

"Hello everyone, I'm your new teacher, Kiki. I've taught dance for 9 years at popular dance studios around Shanghai, I expect nothing but quality coming from students at Youth university. Please, raise your hand when I call your name."

Jiaqi watches and tries to ingrain the names to faces as the girls introduce themselves. A short brunette with a sweet smile was named Joey, and another girl near the same night with air bangs was named Momo.

"Aria? Aria? Aria? Aria?"

"Aiyah, Zihan, wake up!" Hana gently shook a slightly taller girl with chestnut hair who was asleep against the back of the studio. Aria suddenly bolted upright and sent Jiaqi a sheepish smile before raising her hand.

Finally turning to the last person in her roster, Jiaqi confidently pivots on her heels to face Yu Yan.

"Yu Yan, are you in class today?"

Yu Yan did her best to suppress the look of disbelief plastered on her face.

Xu Jiaqi kept staring at her with a knowning smirk. Yu Yan couldn't help but wish to die in this moment.

"Yu Yan raise your hand!" Joey lightly tugged on her oversized T-shirt. Normally Yu Yan would find Joey adorable but at this the moment she wanted nothing more than for the Keni to come and drag her girlfriend away.

“.. Here” Yu Yan hoped she sounded more confident then she felt. Still, she did have an issue with staring at pretty girls and Jiaqi definitely qualifies as pretty.

Sending a silent prayer to her bag of corn, Yu Yan couldn't wait for this class to be over.
