"I really like Seulgi's face"  

Seulgi remembers being seated in a conference room, with one of the managers seated across from her. She was still a trainee back then. They were all still trainees back then.

So imagine her surprise when one evening, one of the managers called out for her.

He looked at her eyes, there was something else in there, something akin to genuine concern. In front of him lies a folder Seulgi was sure contains her profile. She gulped as she let fear consume her whole.

Seulgi was about to open to utter promises that she'd work harder, to swear she'd stay a few more hours to practice no matter how tired she is, to desperately beg him to give her more time to lose weight. Anything. Anything just to let me hold onto my dream.

And that desperation didn't go unnoticed by him. He smiled to reassure her. "Don't be scared, Seulgi. This isn't about your performance. You're doing great. One of the best, actually"

That was all she needed to release a heavy breath she didn't know she was holding.

He placed the folder in front of Seulgi, "Take a look at this" he said.

"The higher ups thought you'll look pretty with double eyelids" He laid the subject out plain and cold.

Seulgi couldn't hide the hurt as her fingers suddenly felt weak and the picture fell out of her grip.

"They asked if it's okay for you to undergo the surgery. Everything is already set, but of course, the final decision still lies on you"

The manager stood up with his eyes looking at Seulgi with worry.

"Personally, and I know I'm not alone in this, I think you look good as you are. But this..." he gestured at the files "... this might increase your chance to debut. You're a talented girl, Seulgi. I want you to achieve your dreams"

Seulgi remembers how she urged herself not to go home that night because if she did, she would have broken down with her dad rubbing her shoulders and asking her what was wrong.

And she knew she would tell him what's wrong
