His hand shook. His mind was in turmoil. His heart thumped in anxious regret.

“No, no, no, no, no!! This can’t be real!!”

The newscaster on the television continued to report about the kidnapping that happened at his best friend’s house, hours after the abduction had taken place.

“This is impossible!”

The first thing he reached for was his phone. He dialled the number he has memorized by heart, a number that was always registered in his call log.

But no matter how many times he repeated it, no matter how many times he dialled it, the same answer rang out of his phone.

In his desperation, he called a different number. A number that would always, more often than not, answer his calls.

“Chanyeol!”

He gritted his teeth as soon as he heard the sobbing voice from the other line. Realization slowly sank into his system, panic gnawing at his consciousness.

“Auntie… Auntie, please tell me it's not real?”

“Kyungsoo is missing… Kyungsoo… Chanyeol, Kyungsoo was kidnapped.”

“We’ll do our best to find him.” Though he knew it was merely words the police needed to spit out to calm their minds, Chanyeol couldn’t help but doubt them.

He gazed back at his best friend’s parents, Kyungsoo’s mother enveloped in her husband's arms as tears upon tears continue to fall. He couldn’t help but wonder what happened, how could someone just kidnap Kyungsoo.

“Omma, Appa, I’ll print out missing person papers so we can post it outside. Maybe someone saw him, or…” Chanyeol started and they immediately nodded, agreeing to his suggestion.

Kyungsoo’s brown orbs suddenly flashed in Chanyeol’s mind as he looked at his best friend’s parents, somehow his heart clenched and tears threatened to fall as well. But he held tightly on them, if they’d all cry then there’d be nothing done.

Taking a deep breath, he stepped out of the house to do what he suggested.
