It had been two months since Jihye and Jungwoo had agreed on calling each other comfortably but the former had to admit, she acquiesced to this much sooner than she let on. It’s not like she didn’t try, and the older woman kept encouraging her to get used to this new dynamic, but for years she’d only known Jungwoo as Monika – the ‘professor’, dancer of dancers. It hadn’t been that long since they met at that party, and to suddenly call her unnie… it’s still mind-boggling.

The one thing that Jihye was keen and enthusiastic about this new dynamic was the increasing communication frequency between them. If they were texting before, they would message each other more often now, setting aside time for a phone call to bid each other good night or until one of them falls asleep first. As satisfied as she was with this, Jihye was wondering if it might be too ‘childish’ for the older woman – Jungwoo mentioned that she doesn’t text often – but was immediately reassured that she was fine with it.

And Jihye was delighted by this. Maybe a little too much…

Apparently, some cats can be allergic to

humans too. I wonder if this also applies

Jihye groaned, feeling the burn at the tips of her ears from the straightforward teasing. Along with the increased communication frequency was more of a confident-gay Jungwoo daily, although at this point, she hadn’t fully bought into the idea that they’re flirting. She did, but maybe not Jungwoo; she heard of the older woman’s reputation, after all, it wasn’t a secret since way back when.

Jihye knew she was pushing her limits, but that’s how it is when it comes to Jungwoo – challenging the boundaries and expressing oneself. If she was only seen as a kid, then she’d make the effort to push that image as far away from the older woman’s mind as possible.

For now, at least, she could absorb as many details about the older woman as possible; like her fondness of Greek yogurt as a meal replacement, the homemade lunch boxes she and Lip J makes alternately to keep track of their nutrition intake, or how Lip J’s father regarded them as a married couple in their past life. Granted, not every tidbit was interesting – the latter certainly made her a bit jealous – but at least they were things that came from Jungwoo herself.

If there was one unfortunate thing about this, it had to be that Jungwoo wasn’t as curious about Jihye, as she was about her. Although the older woman responded well to her likes and dislikes, there was an inkling that it might not be interesting enough to stick, whereas Jihye soaked everything up like a sponge.

At least I can call her unnie now… Jihye thought, staring at that one mark on the ceiling. It would take her a while to get used to this, but at least it’s an ongoing process…
