“I wish you happiness.”

“We can’t do t-this.” Hyejin was catching her breath after the fervent make out with Baekhyun.

She hadn’t known him for a long time.

Byun Baekhyun lived in California for six years but he was back in Seoul for good and was introduced to her as Kyungsoo’s best friend several months ago.

Kyungsoo has been Hyejin’s schoolmate for six years now and it was their third year into relationship. Both are Protestant Christians so they clicked and eventually became lovers. When she met him during high school, he was distant and socially awkward but his calm demeanour slowly won over her heart. They became lovers during college and now that they were in their senior year, they have discussed about the future, their goals and ideals they imagined to achieve together.

However, everything changed when Baekhyun suddenly appeared in their once serene world.

In contrast to Kyungsoo, he was an extrovert, he liked parties and he liked to talk to people. Every girl would literally fall for his charms because he was easy to approach and he had this ability to make people smile. Everyone wanted to be his friend. Byun Baekhyun easily attracted people as he was a social butterfly.

A butterfly that was so beautiful but one wouldn't be able to reach if it flies high in the sky.

Compared to Kyungsoo’s light and soft kisses, Baekhyun liked them more rough and strenuous.

Shaking her thoughts away, Hyejin heavily sighed.

"You're not answering my calls." The guy smiled but it didn’t reach his eyes.

"I told you, we should s-stop with this." She looked away, holding her arm in a form of defense. "Kyungsoo is your best friend."

"So what?" He angrily huffed. "I don’t give a damn."

"Well, I do!" She exclaimed, glaring at the male with teary eyes. “I love Kyungsoo.”

“You’re now cheating on him, Kang Hyejin.” Baekhyun wiped his lips and the woman felt conflicted. Her red lipstick has stained his lips and he looked so damn alluring. “From the very first moment you answered my kiss, you’ve been cheating on him.”

She closed her lids and the warm waters she tried hard to supress finally escaped.

“E-Everything is planned, Baekhyun.” She whispered, almost sounding like she’s begging. “Please don’t mess things up. I love him and I want my future with him.”

“Plans are boring, doll.” He cupped her chin making her open her eyes. Hyejin was greeted by his pupils which conveyed that he was also in pain. “This is hard for me too. But we have already started. We should… We should stop making a fool out of my best friend.”

“Besides, why don’t you just admit it?” He smirked.

“I know you feel something for me too.”

The man leaned down and once more, she closed her eyes and allowed him to kiss her.

What they were doing was very wicked.

Committing a sin was typically like this. People knew the consequences but were too blinded by something so beautiful, they couldn’t fight the urges.

It wasn't because they were not humans who had no hearts… It was for the very reason that they were humans with weak hearts, who were constantly susceptible to making mistakes.

“Is there a dirt on my face?” Kyungsoo asked with a soft smile, gazing back at his girlfriend. Upon closer look, her eyes were glassy and she was wearing a serious face.

She shifted her orbs on her untouched plate, the sound from the chitchats of the people in the cafeteria becoming a white noise as she mustered courage to speak.

“Let’s break up, K-Kyungsoo.”

The smile on his handsome visage quickly vanished. “Stop j-joking Hyejin ah.”

“Does it seem like I’m joking?” She refused to meet his eyes, afraid that she’d see the pain she has caused him.

“But why?” Do Kyungsoo probed, attempting to hold her hand. He changed his mind after hearing her answer.

“I cheated on you. I’m sorry.”

“I don’t believe you.”

“I’m in love with Baekhyun.”

Her voice repeated in his mind in an endless loop, his brain refusing to process the meaning behind her words. His chest ached but he still tried to deny the words he just heard.

“I’m in love with your best friend.”

To her complete surprise, Kyungsoo didn’t get mad or anything. Instead, he looked down and murmured a barely audible okay.

Kang Hyejin had gone insane at this point. A part of her wanted him to stop her but the majority chose the break up to push through. After all, when cheating had destroyed a relationship, trust was hard to gain or worst, it may never be earned again. If they continued, it would only cause them hurt and pain.

Removing the bracelet he gave to her for their third anniversary, Hyejin sniffed and wiped her tears before giving it back to him.

“I’m sorry…” She apologized again. “I’m not sure where this relationship went wrong. I used to think that we both found solace in silence… but Baekyun… h-he made me realize a lot of things.”

Kyungsoo raised his head, forcing a small smile.

“I don’t blame you, Kang Hyejin.” He muttered. “No one wants a boring guy like me anyway.”

She bit her lower lip so hard that it almost bled. “You know t-that’s not true.” her hands into tight balls, she gathered strength and finally stared back at the male.  

God dammit, it hurt like hell.

“But,” She trailed, contemplating whether to say her next words or no
