“Should I call them now?”

The woman sighed and looked up from the screen of her laptop, “Can you facilitate the meeting for me?” She asked, leaning back on her chair, “I just have to visit one of the sites.”

“Really, huh?”

“C’mon Yizhuo, you know I stopped a long time ago.” She sneered at her best friend, “And besides I don’t have my race cars with me right now.”

Yizhuo scoffed, “And if I got another notification that you bought a new one I will choke you.” She threatens her friend, “You know what happened a year ago, stop being so careless and stupid for once, Kim Minjeong.”

Minjeong grinned on her seat, “I promise. Now, can you facilitate the meeting for me?” she stood up from her chair and walk towards her glaring best friend, “Please, Ning? I swear I’m just going to the site.”

“As if I can do anything. You’re the damn boss, anyway.” Yizhuo exhaled loudly, “I’ll go now. Take care, okay? And call me if anything.”

Minjeong hugged her, “Of course, thank you.” She pulled away from the hug and let her best friend walk away before stopping her just before Yizhuo closes the door, “And please, orient the new engineers. I don’t want another idiot ruining the plan.”

And she let the other girl leave.

Once she was left alone, she sighed before walking towards her office window where she can see the wide landscape of the city 60 floors below her. She watches the cars, the people, the busy street, the trees, the birds─ just everything she can see.

She’s been in this business for a few years already. Once she graduated from college, her parents immediately let her managed their company and since then, she’s the one making their business work. She’s still young, yes, but with the help of her friends and family she became one of the successful businesswomen in Asia.

She already reached everything that someone her age would want and she feels grateful for it. Extremely grateful. But something is still missing.

She may be aware of what it is but she wouldn’t acknowledge it just yet.

Not yet.

After letting her eyes wander for a little while, she decided to leave her office just like what she planned. She needs to check the site of one of the infrastructures their firm is building.

She sent a short message to her best friend and told her that she’s already leaving, so Yizhuo won’t try and look for her. Yizhuo seems to panic a little more now than in the past after Minjeong decided to be stupid one day.

The traffic isn’t as heavy as Minjeong thought it would be so it didn’t take her that long to reach their business site. The head engineer welcomes her as soon as she hopped down of her vehicle along with some greeting from the workers.

“You didn’t tell me you’re gonna visit.” The head engineer says as they walk towards the tent that’s working as their temporary office, “You could’ve called me.”

Minjeong grins in response, “I was just trying to run away from the meeting.” Her eyes scan the site, looking for the familiar faces, “Where are the others?”

“Oh, they left to grab some food but they’ll be back soon.”

She turns around to face the other, “And they left you here? Alone?”

The engineer shakes her head, “Nah, I’m with that girl right there.”

Minjeong turns her head to look at where the other woman is pointing at, “Oh, I thought she’s still in Jeju?”

“She got back this morning.”

“Minjeong!”

The two of them turns around as they heard the girl from afar shouting her name. She couldn’t help but laugh when she the girl sprinting towards them before lunging herself in a bear hug.

“Gosh, how can you still be this hyper after all these years?” Minjeong grunted as she received the impact of the bear hug, “You’re lucky; your girlfriend is as hyper as you are, Yeojinnie.”

Yeojin grins at her after pulling away, “We’re both lucky then.” And she winked earning a scoff from Minjeong, “Anyway, I thought you have a meeting with the new engineers and architects. Why the hell are you here?”

Minjeong shrugged, “I let Yizhuo handle it.”

The small woman widens her eyes, “You fired the previous engineer and let our poor Yizhuo handle the new ones? How could you, Kim Minjeong?!” Yeojin dramatically asked, throwing slaps after slap to Minjeong.

“Oh my god, stop!” Minjeong says as she tries avoiding the hard slap of the girl, “Yerim! Stop your girlfriend! Ow!”

Yerim laughed at the misfortune of their friend and their boss, “You know how much Yeojin loves Yizhuo.” She says, earning a glare from their boss slash friend, “Alright, come here, Jinnie. Stop hurting Minjeongie.”

Yeojin exhales loudly before stomping her way towards her girlfriend, “That better be the last time you let Yizhuo do your job.”

Minjeong frowns, “But Yizhuo is my secretary!?”

“And best friend!”

Minjeong was so ready to throw another counter when she felt someone tapping her back.

“Why the hell are you here?” She turns around and saw the bored look of none other than Son Hyejoo with her cute little girlfriend beside her, “I thought you have a meeting with the new engineers.”

“Well, she asked Yizhuo to do the meeting instead of her because she’s stupid.” Yeojin growled from behind Yerim.

Minjeong turns around, “I’m your boss, Im Yeojin!”

“And you’re stupid!”

“Alright, kids.” Everyone turns around upon hearing the soft voice of Chaeryeong, “Can you please shut the heck up because everyone is looking at us.” She’s smiling but the looks on her eyes says the complete opposite. She’s ing pissed. They all gulped seeing the usual soft gaze of Lee Chaeryeong turns murderous for a second.

Without saying anything, they walked towards the huge tent with Chaeryeong still glaring at them. Minjeong maybe the boss but she still couldn’t stop herself from getting scared of Chaeryeong.

When everyone was seated on their place, Chaeryeong sighed, “Okay, I don’t want something like that happening again, okay?” Her eyes directed to the two grown up women who was fighting earlier, “You can just try to choke each other when it’s just us.”

Ryujin who’s silently watching her girlfriend scold their friends couldn’t stop herself from letting out a loud laugh, “Okay, since all is well, why don’t we go ahead and eat?” She gestures to the food laid out in front of them, “And Minjeong, you’re coming home with us.” Ryujin smiles with her eyes.

Minjeong doesn’t like how it sounds but she couldn’t say anything to contradict that when Chaeryeong is still looking at her with such murderous gaze. Minjeong cleared and avoided Chaeryeong’s eyes before giving a short nod.

But then, she realized something, “Wait, can you just let me know why?”

“Yizhuo asked us to babysit you.”

Minjeong could only pout at that. Well, it’s been like that since she got into an accident a year ago. Her friends got even more protective to the point that she always needs to open her GPS or her friends would take turns to babysit her.

“Stop sulking, we’re only doing this for you.” Chaeryeong says, putting an arm around her, “You know that, right?”

She nodded, “Of course, I know but I’m an adult already. I don’t need anyone babysitting me.”

Minjeong looked up when she heard her friends scoffing at her, “It’s your mother who told us to guard your .” Hyejoo muttered, “And we’re just doing this to avoid any accident again, Kim Minjeong.”

“Well, it wasn’t my fault that car hit me though.” She mumbled on her seat, “I was winning that race, you know, and that hit my car.”

“You shouldn’t have even joined that race.” Ryujin shakes her head, “Look where that stupid race brought you.”

Minjeong sighed, “But I’m okay already. It’s been a year and I’m all good.”

“We’re just taking precautions.” Yeojin smiles at her, “Because we all know how stupid you are sometimes.”

Yerim laughed at her seat, “Remember when she couldn’t even put her own underwear? I still got the video of that in the hospital.”

Minjeong widens her eyes, remembering how embarrassing that certain event for her. It was a day after her accident and she broke her arm, so she needed some help to basically wear everything she needs. It wasn’t that serious but her friends immediately went into panic mode when they learned that she got into a freaking car accident and hurt herself. She only got a few stitches on her head and broken arm and a broken rib but her friends and family acted like she’s a dead meat. And it’s been like that ever since.

“Why did you even join that race, huh?” Chaewon, Hyejoo’s long-time girlfriend, asked her, “We all know you don’t need that price money.”

She pouted remembering the stupid bet, “A bet.” Her friends looked at her with wide expectant eyes, “It was just a stupid bet with my cousin.” She responded, avoiding the staring orbs of the other girls.

“A bet.” Chaeryeong mumbled slowly before hitting the hell out of her, “You put your life at risk for a stupid bet?!”

“Ouch! I’m sorry!” Minjeong begged, “I’m okay now! Ow! Oh my god, stop her! Shin Ryujin, stop your girlfriend!” She looked at the girl with wide scared eyes as she tries avoiding the continuous hits of Chaeryeong.

She never really told them why she joined that race in the first place, so getting hit after telling them the truth make her instantly regret. Especially when the ever so gentle Chaeryeong got pissed.

After calming down, they finally proceeded to take their late lunch before deciding to inspect the site right after.

“I heard your Dad wanted to expand in Jeju by next year.” Hyejoo says as they stroll around the site. It’s just the two of them inspecting the site with the other girls planning out the rest of the project.

Minjeong looked around as she nods, “Yeah, if this project succeeds.”

“Are you going to manage that too?”

“I don’t think so.” She answered as she took photos of some mishaps in the site, “I think he’s going to let my sister handle that one.”

“Taeyeon?”

Minjeong hummed, “She got back last month with Tiffany.”

“I heard they adopted a child.” Hyejoo says, as she jot down notes on her small notebook.

“They did and that’s why Dad is assigning Taeyeon to the expansion in Jeju.”

They are halfway in their inspection when she received a call from Yeojin asking them both to go back to the tent because apparently Yizhuo arrived with the new engineers. She frowned upon hearing the stuttering mess of the small girl as if she’s nervous about something but she just shakes her head at that. Because, why would Yeojin be nervous anyway?

But as soon as they entered the tent and met the rest of the new engineers, she finally understood why the heck Im Yeojin is stuttering and a nervous mess during the call.

Kim Minjeong finally understood as she met eyes with the girl she’s been avoiding for the past four years after college.

After that night in the festival.

After she said she’s going to stop.

After she stopped.

Yoo Jimin is damn standing in front of her.

And is looking at her.

And as their eyes met, Kim Minjeong realized that her feelings were never really gone.

She’s still ing and deeply in love with the girl.

With Yoo Jimin.

“What the heck, Yizhuo?” That was the first words Minjeong blurted out the moment they were left alone inside the tent with the others touring the new engineers and architects in the site.

Yizhuo sighed before prompting her best friend to calm down and take a seat which Minjeong reluctantly follows, “First of all, I didn’t know, okay?” Yizhuo started as she looks at her best friend carefully, “I wasn’t the one who hired them. You just asked me to facilitate the meeting. It was your father who reviewed their applications and hired them.”

Minjeong groaned in her seat, “Of course, it’s Dad.”

“Jimin is really good at her thing, Minjeong. Maybe the best and your father know that too.” Yizhuo cooed, watching the small changes in the other woman’s face, “I saw her application and I must say she’s perfect for the job. She’s more than capable of doing what we want— of what our company wants.”

“Alright,” She sighed, “I don’t have to interact to her anyway. I’m going to be busy in the office.”

Yizhuo chuckled at her, “Oh, don’t forget you got to be in the site for at least thrice a week to check the progress.”

Minjeong groaned, “We have Yerim and Chaeryeong for that. They are the head engineer and architect!”

“I know, but you’re the one assigned in this project, Kim Minjeong.”

She couldn’t do anything but grumbled on her seat before letting out a loud exhale, “Okay, I just have to be professional.” She mumbled looking at the Chinese, “Right? I just have to be professional and everything will be fine.”

She says that to convince herself more than to convince the other girl. God knows how much of a mess her mind is at that moment.

Ever since she met eyes with Yoo Jimin.

She didn’t know how to act around the girl after not seeing each other for four long years, especially when the last time they saw each other was the night of the festival where she stopped pursuing the girl.

“Minjeong-ah,” Yizhuo’s voice snapped her out of her daze, “Be honest with me. Are you still in love with her?”

Minjeong gulped at the intensity of the girl’s stare at her, “What are you talking about? I don’t— I’m not in love with her anymore.”

Yizhuo frowned, “It’s just you and me here, Minjeongie. You can be honest with me.” She seriously said, “I’m your best friend. I’m not gonna judge you if you’re still head over heels for her.”

She contemplated whether to be honest or just crawl her way out of the interrogation with a blunt lie but seeing the sincerity on her best friend’s eyes made her nod. She nodded; it was short but enough to confirm everything.

“I don’t think I will stop though.” She sighed, “I didn’t even see her for the past years but I’m still in love with her. How is that possible, Ning? I just— I want to move on, you know. Get out there and flirt and just live my life, but every single time I try I could only see her. And then I’m back to square one all over again.”

“It’s okay, Minjeong. No one’s rushing you anyway.” Yizhuo smiled gently, “Do it on your own pace but don’t force yourself. I don’t want you to get hurt. You deserve to be happy.”

On the other hand, Jimin couldn’t stop thinking of the other girl as well. It’s been years and she still regrets being a coward. She still regrets not telling the girl what she truly feels and now seeing the girl in flesh made wonders inside her.

She couldn’t explain what she felt during the short amount of time she met eyes with the girl. The sudden rush of excitement, nervousness, anxiety, and joy made her dizzy. Those beautiful brown eyes looking at her— god, how she missed those.

And now, she couldn’t focus on whatever the girl in front of them is talking about. She couldn’t when her mind is still floating with a certain blonde consuming her.

“Any questions?” The girl who introduced herself as the head architect of the project asked. Jimin forgot her name though.

When no one answered, they were ushered to get down. They are four new engineers that were hired a week ago and tomorrow will be their first day in the site but Jimin’s mind is nowhere near that.

And maybe she would regret that later.

“Alright, since we’re done exploring the site. We’re gonna introduce ourselves again before we let you go.” The smallest of the group says, “I am Im Yeojin and I’m the assistant manager in this project.” She started as she gestures the other girls to do the same.

“I am Choi Yerim, the head engineer and you’ll be under me.”

“I am Lee Chaeryeong, the head architect and that girl over there is Shin Ryujin, my assistant.” The pale girl smiles, before pointing at a short haired in a distance.

The next one kind of looks like a wolf, “I am Son Hyejoo and I am the electrical engineer assigned in this project and that blonde is the interior designer, Park Chaewon.”

“And this is our company COO and the one handling this project, Kim Minjeong.” A loud cheery voice piped up, “And well, you know me already, but let me introduce myself again, Ning Yizhuo the general manager of the company but this woman’s secretary as well.” She grinned pointing at a frowning Minjeong.

And when Jimin’s eyes landed on the COO, she couldn’t help but let out a small smile seeing the small pout lingering on the girl’s lips. Kim Minjeong never really changed.

“Alright! Since we’re done here and it’s getting dark, let’s go home.” The smallest of the bunch says, “And welcome to the company.” She smiles at them.

“Thank you, guys and take care on your way.” Lee Chaeryeong smiled at them before turning around to face the COO, “And you— you’re coming with me.” She says before pulling Minjeong with her.

“But I can go home on my own!” Everyone heard Minjeong complaining, but the pale girl didn’t listen, “C’mon Ryeongie, I’m gonna be fine~” She whined.

“We’re just going to eat dinner, Jeongie.” Chaeryeong chuckled, “Yizhuo can’t go because she’s busy.” The girl added as she patted the whining girl’s head.

Seeing that exchange in front of her hurts, of course. God knows how much she wants to be in that place. How much she wants to hold Minjeong. How much she loves the girl.

But she couldn’t do anything about it.

Not when she let go of that chance a long time ago.

But if she would be given another chance she wouldn’t hesitate to grab it.

If she got the chance to hold Minjeong again, she wouldn’t ever let her go.

“So, how was it?” Jimin plopped down their couch as soon as she got home, ignoring the expectant eyes of her best friend, “C’mon, tell me how was the meeting?”

Jimin sighed on her seat and put her arm over her eyes, “I saw her.”

Aeri frowned in confusion, “Who?”

“Kim Minjeong.”

“WHAT?”

“Yeah, I saw her.” Jimin “And I’m working for her now.”

“What do you mean?” Aeri asked, eyebrows furrowed, “You mean, she owns that big company?”

Jimin nodded, “Her family owns it and she’s the one leading the project I got in to.” She explained, still not over the fact that she’s working under the same woman who used to pursue her, “She’s still beautiful, Aeri.”

“Come here.” Aeri opens her arms wide and let the taller girl lunge herself into her, “You can cry, Jiminie. I’ll be here.”

Living together for the past years helped her read what’s running on her best friend’s mind. And seeing the wistful look in her best friend’s eyes let her know what the girl is thinking.

“I know you still love her, Jiminie. It’s okay. You’ll be okay.” She whispered as she sway both of their bodies, “Everything will be fine. You don’t have to force yourself, okay?” She smiles when she felt the other girl nodding against her shoulder.

“I also saw the love of your life though.” She heard Jimin mumbling against her shoulder, “I bet you’ll fall for her all over again.”

“Yizhuo? I’m over her.” Aeri said as she pulled away from the hug, “And of course, she’ll be there.”

Jimin grinned, “I never said any name though.” The taller woman couldn’t stop herself from laughing when she her best friend turning into a blushing mess, “Over her my .” She says as she stood up to walk up to her room.

Aeri groaned loudly on her seat, kicking the air, “Shut up!”

Jimin laughed loudly before closing the door of her bedroom. She shakes her head as she proceeded to wash up.

And as she lies down on her bed, the previous events on her day kept repeating inside her mind. She sighed before grabbing her phone from her bedside table. She smiles to herself once she saw her lock screen.

It was a stolen shot of Minjeong during that night at the festival.

And it is the only picture she has of Kim Minjeong.

“God, I missed you.” She whispers to herself as she continues to stare at the smiling image of Minjeong.

Seeing the girl again for the first time after years made her realize just how much she misses her. She just hopes that this time— this time she would be given another chance to show how much the woman means to her.

She snapped out of her trance when she heard a knock on her door before a head poke out on the space in between.

Aeri was grinning to her but seeing the solemn look on her best friend immediately wiped it off, “What’s wrong?” She asked before

Chapter 5: That was such a cliffy though but still good. I'm glad they both feel the same after all those years being apart. Btw, I was not familiar to some of WinNing's friend that I googled it and found out that it's Loona and that you were using their real names. I only know Heejin and Hyunjin because of MixNine. Anyways...thank you for this
