Summary: A bunch of friends start a startup company that end up going through rapid growth in the past 7 years. OC is a secretary, handing multiple departments. But her main focus is to make sure everything goes smoothly for the CEO, Lee Jeno.

Scenario: Introduction of the characters.

What are dreams if you don’t work for it?

What happens if you don’t know how to start?

That is what Jeno, Jaemin, Haechan, Mark and Renjun kept thinking about every day. They had dreams together, they wanted to be rich. They were good at different things. Jaemin was amazing in content, Haechan was good in handling people, Mark was very strategic when he wasn’t being an idiot and Renjun was good at handling money.

Or so it was because everyone knew that Renjun knew how to make money.

They met him one day, Renjun telling them that he wanted to borrow money. He promised them triple in return and they all laughed. Empty promises, they said, but no. He came back with more than triple.

And Jeno… Jeno grounded everyone.

Third year students, trying to navigate life. Tired of going to classes, tired of doing the same thing and listening to adults telling them what to do. All of them sat down, downing soju in a small shop, Renjun grumbling that he was sick and tired of doing what everyone expected him to do.

“I mean, maybe one day… right?” Mark asked sadly, his eyes on the ground. “Maybe one day, we’ll make it. Together.”

They all nodded, listening to the bustling sounds of the drunk people around them when they shook the idea out of their heads. That night, they went back to their dorms and was greeted by another day.

There was always a kid following them, Jaemin would always see him with his thick glasses and a backpack. He was always asking to join their dream gang. Jaemin couldn’t remember his name, not anymore. But thinking back to the olden days, that kid did give them very good memories.

It was that one night when Renjun came to them and told him that he would drop out of university. He had very little money left and he would gamble with it.

He would trade with it.

At first, they thought he wouldn’t go through with it until Renjun came back and announced that he had made enough for him to buy more stocks from a foreign company. It didn’t take long for them to jump on the bandwagon, Jaemin shaking his head and telling everyone that he would just be a clerk.

“I hate my professors.” He wailed one day, Jeno listening to everyone. He too, was burned out. But he knew what he had to do and that was to get his degree.

Mark was next.

“I’ll just start an ice cream shop.” Mark grumbled, Jeno raising an eyebrow.

Then it was Haechan.

“I guess Youtube will be my only source of income.” He said, picking through the rice when Renjun suggested something that made them freeze.

“We should start a company of our own.” He spoke, stuffing the food into his mouth. “I will just make money and we can pool our money, acquire something and work from there.”

“Please.” Haechan scoffed. A Start Up company? Not very smart in a world of competition. “It’s not like we’ll make it… So, when do we start?”

Jeno wasn’t there when they made the decision. Jeno was outside making some ramen on the rooftop because they couldn’t afford a stove and he didn’t want the smoke to reach the curtains or he would have to handle the smell for three days.

When he came back, they were all smiling.

Haechan smiled, waving a hand in front of his face. “Jeno. He has the face.”

Jeno had no idea what that meant.

And that was the start of the Dream Corporation.

7 years after

My high heels tapped rhythmically against the ground.

It was Monday, the hardest day of the week. I hugged the folder against my chest, a hand reaching up to massage my shoulders when the elevator opened up and I saw that it came from the first floor.

The sliding doors open and I was greeted by the Head of the Department of Corporate Planning—Mark Lee. He smiled when he saw me, lifting the watermelon smoothie up to sip on it.

“Secretary An.” He greeted and I saw that he had a briefcase in his hand, the male swinging it back and forth. Mark Lee was great with ideas, positioned as one of the Directors, he was always quick to fix problems.

There was a hierarchy and steps to follow.

“Hey, Cap.” I smiled, getting into the elevator with him. We all called him Captain because Mark was the driving force of the center of our business. From product management to strategical planning, he was the brains. “Ready for another tough week?”

“We have a product showcase this week. I’m more worried about Jeno. You know how he is.” Mark said and I chuckled. “Doing your daily rounds?”

“Yeah. I’ll see you in the check in meeting around 1 pm.” I
