The FBI Man

A/N:  i know literally nothing about the fbi or screen monitoring or any of this so please dont try to look for any realistic accuracy. it is not here. i hope you enjoy anyways!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"New assignment from up above," the boss, Joonmyeon, spoke at the mid-level FBI agent daily morning meaning. Joonmyeon had a defeated look in his eyes, and Chanyeol knew that couldn't be good.
"What is it Joonmyeonie?"
Chanyeol quickly received a smack on his right arm. "Shut up," his best work friend Kyungsoo mumbled.
Joonmyeon cleared his throat. "Anyways...new assignment from up above. We've now gotten the ability to monitor suspicious activity through laptops and smartphones. So from today, all of you will be assigned someone to monitor that the heads consider to be suspect."
At that, even Kyungsoo couldn't hold back a loud groan.
Chanyeol had been naive enough to think that signing up to be an FBI agent would be just like becoming a spy in the movies: guns, cool all black outfits, and parkour skills all becoming normal parts of his life.
Little did Chanyeol know that without connections (or the ability to be quiet and not clumsy), it was practically impossible to do all the "fun agent" jobs. Most people ended up with a desk job, Chanyeol included.
Sometimes, he didn't mind so much. It wasn't too difficult, it was stable, and he was in his mid twenties with a 401k. Plus, the work environment was pretty chill: chill enough to nickname his boss and spend most of his shifts bantering with his married-with-kids work bestie. What more could he ask for?
But like this grinded his gears. He raised his hand and Joonmyeon rolled his eyes.
"Yes, Chanyeol?"
"What makes these people we're watching suspect?"
Joonmyeon thought for a moment. "Can I be honest?" Everyone nodded. "I'm not really sure. They just seem like...normal people. But that's what the bosses upstairs want us to do, so we don't have a choice."
Chanyeol sighed. Yes, he knew working for a creepy government agency was questionable, but this was too far. But unless he quit...he couldn't do anything.
"Now," Joonmyeon continued. "We'll be given access to both their camera and their screens. So we'll be able to monitor the people themselves, and what they are doing on screen. If you see any behavior that could lead to treason, or anything you believe could be suspicious, save the image and send it to me. Got it?"
"Yup," everyone groaned.
"Alright then. Everyone go back to your desks, and I will send out your assigned persons."
Still waiting to shrug off the early morning exhaustion, and dreading the future of their job, the FBI agents made their way back to their desks. When Chanyeol arrived he his desktop, and an email from Joonmyeon with a link awaited him.
Chanyeol read the text first:
Your assignment:
Byun Baekhyun, age 24. Born in Grand Rapids, MI but currently located in Washington DC.
"Huh, so we could be neighbors," Chanyeol mumbled out loud to himself, and kept on reading.
Employed as a public relations manager for the DC branch of Lyft corporation. Single. Lives alone. Of a middle class tax branch. Has living parents and one younger sister, both of whom are still located in Michigan.
That was it. No reference to why the hell Chanyeol now had to spend all day watching him, in fact, he seemed like the world's most boring person.
With a quick sigh, Chanyeol clicked the link.
Suddenly, four video feeds popped up on his screen: what appeared to be Baekhyun's phone screen, his laptop screen, and two videos of Baekhyun himself through his phone and laptop camera.
And- Chanyeol's suspicions had been right: he was the world's most boring person. His laptop was just playing The Office on netflix, his phone screen displayed Baekhyun's twitter feed, and Baekhyun was looking at these things and eating chips. That was it.
The sound of footsteps passed by Chanyeol's ear and he swung around in his desk chair, watching his boss walk by. "Joonmyeon!"
He flipped around. "Yeah?"
"Come here."
Joonmyeon walked into Chanyeol's cubicle and looked at his desktop screen. "What?"
"There is no way this Byun Baekhyun guy is a security threat."
Joonmyeon did the white man grimace at Chanyeol, and Chanyeol knew: yeah, Joonmyeon agreed, but there was nothing he could do about it.
"Well, my boss said we had to watch him..."
Chanyeol let out a loud groan and Joonmyeon shrugged, leaving to see how the rest of the staff were doing. The giant sighed, sitting up and looking at his screen: there Baekhyun still was, watching TV, scrolling twitter, and messily eating his chips. Was this how it would be every day? How boring would that be?
Suddenly, Baekhyun looked up, right into his laptop camera. Chanyeol just stared back at him: his wide, sparkling eyes, petal plush lips, the chip dust on his cheek, not disturbing the prettiness of his face.
Well. At least he was cute.
~~~~~~~~~~~

It was a week later when Kyungsoo and Chanyeol were sitting across from each other on their lunch break.

At their table, it was just the two of them. That was how it always was: while Kyungsoo didn't exactly have the most interesting life or personality, he was by far the liveliest of Chanyeol's coworkers (and that was saying something). Chanyeol was the wild one of the bunch: the youngest employee by at least a decade, who brought lunch from takeout restaurants with cuisine from around the world (most of the other employees just packed a sandwich). Kyungsoo frequently reminded Chanyeol he was the most interesting part of his day: even if he wasn't the FBI's best employee, he had to respect him and sit by him during lunch (plus Chanyeol always brought Kyungsoo a share of the takeout).

But from what Chanyeol could tell, his "most interesting part of Kyungsoo's day" spot had been stolen. This past week there had been a crazed, almost disturbed look in Kyungsoo's eyes, which he promised to tell him about when he got the chance.

Now was the time, and Chanyeol had a feeling he knew what it was all about.

"So, who's your suspicious activity person?"

"His name is Kim Jongin."

"Oh....what does he do?"

Uncharacteristically filled with emotion, Kyungsoo flopped onto the table. "He's a stripper. A stripper, Chanyeol."

"Oh!" Chanyeol was, maybe, a little too excited. "Is he any good?"

Kyungsoo looked at Chanyeol, deadpanned. "My promising FBI career has turned into me, a married heteroual, watching a male stripper practice at home every day. And you ask me if he's any good?"

Chanyeol just shrugged and took a bite of his food.

"Okay, I think he's good. I wouldn't know; I've never been to a strip club."

"Never been to a strip club?" Chanyeol cried, loud enough for their coworkers to give them a look before Kyungsoo lightly smacked his arm. "That's right. You've been with the same woman since you started college."

"And I've never regretted it, thank you very much." Kyungsoo made that sad little face again. "But what is my wife going to say?"

"You haven't told her yet?"

Kyungsoo sighed and shook his head. "I don't know what to say. Should I just say to her, 'oh honey, by the way, my latest assignment is just me watching a male stripper practice his routines for eight hours a day.'"

"Well, what else are you going to do?"

Kyungsoo made another little sad face.

"Come on. There's got to be something fun about watching him."

"Nope. All I feel is ugly and jealous." Kyungsoo leaned in close. "He's the most beautiful man I've ever seen in my entire life. He's totally ripped."

Chanyeol sighed. "Ugh, I guess I get that."

"Anyways." Kyungsoo took another bite of his food. "How's yours? What's he like?"

"His name is Baekhyun," Chanyeol answered. "And he is so, so boring. You're gonna be so jealous."

"What does he do?"

"He works at an office, but I don't think I've seen him do any work at all this whole week. He just goes on his phone the entire time. Scrolls through twitter."

"Do you think he could be a security threat?"

"Absolutely not. There's no way. He's..." Chanyeol let out a little sigh. "He's just like you and me, you know? Like...maybe I get why they're watching your guy? Strippers sometimes do illegal stuff? But Baekhyun..."

"Yeah, agreed. It sounds like there's no way."

"He just watches TV and hangs around. His twitter is pretty funny though." Chanyeol smiled to himself. "Joonmyeon always gives me looks when I start cracking up in my cubicle. He always laughs at his own tweets too. It's pretty-"

Chanyeol stopped himself before he finished that sentence.

He was about to say cute. He was about to call Baekhyun cute.

Chanyeol shut his mouth but Kyungsoo gave him a look, like he knew everything. And he probably did.

"You think he's cute, don't you."

"Kyungsoo-" Chanyeol whined.

"You do. I can tell by the glint in your eyes."

"W-well, not exactly...I-I mean he's got really nice eyes, they get kinda...sparkly sometimes? I don't know... and his laugh is nice. His smile is kinda nice too. Oh, yeah, like I said, he's funny. But I don't think he's cute."

"Yeol, you can't fool me. You're doing that thing where you get shy. You don't do that unless you think someone's attractive."

"You don't know me that well-"

"Yeah, I do. Last time you acted like this was when the FBI deputy director visited."

"Who?"

"The guy you called the y dilf."

Chanyeol's ears flushed even redder than they were two seconds ago.

Kyungsoo was right. Maybe he did think Baekhyun was cute.

~~~~~~~~~~
Chanyeol realized he was totally screwed when he still thought Baekhyun was cute, a month later.
He had seen him do everything. Everything.
Chanyeol had watched Baekhyun eat dinner every night, by himself, only wiping his face off at the end of his meal. He'd watched Baekhyun spill beer all over his shirts every single time he drank, without fail, and the inevitable cursing that came after. He'd watched Baekhyun rewear the beer stained shirts without washing them. He'd watched Baekhyun yell at his laptop every time one of his favorites got eliminated from Rupaul's Drag Race and cry watching a dog documentary. He'd watched Baekhyun scroll through twitter and watch 90's video game system restoration videos at three in the morning, double chin and all.  He'd even watched Baekhyun scroll through multiple pages of hub and , but not like, a y , the kinda you did when you were alone and needed release and honestly, didn't feel y at all.
He'd seen Baekhyun at his worst.
And yet...he still thought he was cute.
"God you're whipped," a voice mumbled over Chanyeol's shoulder one day when he was "hard at work" (aka watching Baekhyun eat a jar of artichoke dip with a spoon while he watched The Office).
"Uh- yeah? What?" Chanyeol was torn out of his fantasizing, looking up at the voice. It was Kyungsoo. Looking like he knew too much.
"You're whipped."
"A-am not..."
"He has artichoke dip on his chin! And you have sparkly eyes!"
"I am not whipped. Okay, he's cute, but I am not whipped."
"You still think he's cute after seeing him with artichoke dip on his chin. There is only one person in the world who I think is cute with artichoke dip on their chin and you know who that is? My wife. And I am whipped. Therefore, you are too."
Chanyeol sighed. As much as Kyungsoo's logic annoyed him, he was right.
"Maybe...maybe I'm a little tiny bit whipped. But first of all...I don't even know if he's gay."
Kyungsoo raised his eyebrows. "Didn't you tell me he liked Rupaul's Drag Race?"
"That doesn't mean he's gay. Come on Soo, I thought you were better than to believe stereotypes."
"But, I thought you said he retweeted gay memes on his twitter."
"Maybe...maybe a lot of his followers are gay?"
"And what about when he watches ? I seem to remember you telling me it was always gay ."
"A lot of straight guys watch gay !"
"Chanyeol...it just doesn't make sense. He has to be."
"I'll believe it when I damn see it."
And see it Chanyeol would.
Later that night, Chanyeol had volunteered to stay late at the office to get some overtime. He cleaned up the office, organized everything, and maybe, possibly, wanted to get one more glance at Baekhyun before he turned off his computer and went home.
But when he opened up Baekhyun's camera screens, he froze.
There was Baekhyun: hair done, wearing a nice and unstained shirt, and was he wearing a little bit of eyeliner?
Oh. And he had grindr open.
After a lightning strike of jealousy flashed through Chanyeol, his mind calmed down and he thought.
He could reason away the drag race, the gay , the gay memes. But all of that plus grindr?
Yeah...Baekhyun was gay.
Chanyeol almost breathed a sigh of relief, but stopped himself.
Chanyeol...Chanyeol was just Baekhyun's FBI agent. He didn't even know Chanyeol existed.
He shouldn't have even gotten up his hope.
~~~~~~~~~~

Oh god was Chanyeol ed.

He had developed a crush on Baekhyun. A full out, real, like-like, crush. It was embarrassing, really. He was twenty four for god's sake.

But he had his reasons. Despite seeing Baekhyun at his worst, he was seeing Baekhyun in general. And what he saw, flaws and all, was that Baekhyun was a good man. He was funny: so funny, his tweets and texts always made Chanyeol laugh loud enough for the people in the cubicles next to him turn their heads. He was genuine: he was honest with everyone, coworkers and friends, even if it wasn't what they wanted to hear but what they needed to hear. But most of all, he was kind. Chanyeol definitely noticed the way he always shot his friends a good luck test whenever they had something important going on or checked in on his loved one's mental health.

So Chanyeol wasn't being completely ridiculous. At least, he thought so.

"You're being completely ridiculous," Kyungsoo said, digging his fork into his lunch.

"Oh come on," Chanyeol whined. "We know he's gay now!"

"True. But you're his FBI agent. How could you ever meet him without some stalker behavior?"

Chanyeol sighed deeply and bit into his food. "I don't want you to be right."

"But I am, nonetheless."

Chanyeol sighed again. "It just gets harder and harder to do my job every day when I am developing these...feelings."

"You think your job is hard?" Kyungsoo scoffed. "At least you don't spend hours every day watching Jongin the male stripper."

"What did he do this time?"

"He...he was shaving, right?"

"Shaving his legs?"

"No...his . His ! And he used his phone camera as a mirror!"

"Oh my god, Soo."

"Yup. Yup."

"Did you tell your wife yet?"

"No. I just don't know how to tell her...especially after the shaving incident."

Chanyeol chuckled a little too loudly. " shaving incident!" He cried, and the entire lunch room turned to stare at him.

"Shut up," Kyungsoo grumbled through his teeth, and Chanyeol grinned back at him.

~~~~~~~~~~
It was a few minutes before Chanyeol's lunch break a few days later that he got a terrible, terrible idea into his head.
Thus far it had been an off sort of day for him, mostly because it had been an off sort of day for Baekhyun. Luckily Baekhyun had the day off but he'd been sad and pouty all day, not even getting out of bed. It made Chanyeol feel down too to see him not in his usual happy go lucky mood.
But then, Baekhyun typed a tweet, his first one of the day.
feelin like i could rlly go for some chicken nugs
What a dangerous tweet that was, because it brought a stupid, stupid idea in his head.
And as soon as the clock hit noon, time for Chanyeol's lunch break, he decided to execute his idea.
"Ready for lunch?" Kyungsoo asked as he turned to look at Chanyeol, packing up his cubicle.
"Um, actually, I kind of have an errand to run right now." Chanyeol hurriedly packed his things, making sure he had Baekhyun's address on his phone.
Kyungsoo rolled his eyes. "What errand? Chanyeol, please tell me this has nothing to do with Baek-"
"It doesn't, I promise," Chanyeol lied.
Kyungsoo sighed. "Alright, alright. Have fun abandoning me."
"Sorry Soo!" Chanyeol yelled back, rushing out the office building door.
It only took him a minute or two to reach the restaurant he was thinking of: a small diner left over from the 1950's (Baekhyun may have had McDonald's in mind, but Chanyeol thought he was too good for that). He ordered their chicken nuggets and had them in his hand fifteen minutes later.
Now, was the stalker territory time.
Punching Baekhyun's address into google maps Chanyeol's face burned with shame, but nonetheless he breathed a sigh of relief when he realized it was only another five minutes from the restaurant. Following his phone, Chanyeol went from the business areas of DC to residential very quickly, and finally came upon a sweet, smaller apartment building. Checking the panel of doorbells, he saw Baekhyun was on the third floor.
He looked at the doorbell, the door, then back to the doorbell. And before he could think another thought, he set the chicken nuggets down in front of the door and rang the bell.
Before Baekhyun could even think to answer Chanyeol ran away from the apartment, as fast as his legs would take him, back to his office building. Making sure his breathing was steady when he walked back to his cubicle (or else Kyungsoo would definitely suspect something), he sat down just a minute or two before his lunch was over.
Kyungsoo leaned over his cubicle wall to eye Chanyeol. "How was your errand?"
"Oh, fine. Just a....long line. At the post office."
Kyungsoo gave him a look but didn't question any more, logging back into Jongin's feed. And Chanyeol did the same with Baekhyun.
Any shame or guilt he had for what he'd just done faded away as soon as he could Baekhyun wearing a big grin, munching on his nuggets. He had also just tweeted, and Chanyeol read it to himself:
bless whatever angel dropped chicken nuggets at my house ily forever
The joy of being Baekhyun's angel would follow Chanyeol for the rest of the day.
~~~~~~~~~~

A few weeks later, Kyungsoo walked into the office, sat immediately in his cubicle, and put his head in his hands.

"Soo, are you okay?" Chanyeol asked, rushing from his own cubicle to his friend's.

"Chanyeol... you will not believe what happened to me this weekend."

"Oh god, what?"

"My sister in law...she's getting married. She had a bachelorette party."

"Oh no..."

"My wife insisted we host...I locked myself in our bedroom, so I didn't mind...but...my wife got male strippers for the party..."

"Wait a second..."

"I snuck into the kitchen for a glass of water...and guess who was there in my living room."

"No way..."

"Yes...there he was! In my living room! Kim Jongin! Calling himself Kai!"

"That's his stripper name?"

"I guess! And then...oh my god, then...my wife was so drunk...she insisted...insisted...that Jongin give me a ."

Now, Chanyeol couldn't stop himself from cracking up.

"It's not funny!" Kyungsoo cried. "I've seen this guy practice his routines! I've seen him ! I've seen him go to the bathroom!"

"Come on," Chanyeol answered between giggles. "It's a little bit hilarious."

Kyungsoo was about to bite back when Joonmyeon's voice resounded through the office.

"Alright guys! Get to work!"

Chanyeol snorted at Kyungsoo before he could answer and went back to his own cubicle. He smiled as he loaded up the screen, Baekhyun's pretty face already brightening his day.

He watched as Baekhyun sat on his bed. Chanyeol furrowed his brows; he seemed to be doing some sort of crafting? He'd never seen Baekhyun do anything like that, and he didn't think he was the type to anyways.

Baekhyun ripped a small piece blue tape from the roll and came in closer to his laptop, and suddenly-

Blackness.

Baekhyun had taped his computer camera.

Chanyeol could see Baekhyun was pausing through the phone camera, another piece of tape in his hand. "Well," he said out loud. "I can just take it off when I want to take a selfie."

And he taped over the phone camera.

Oh god. What was Chanyeol going to do? He was panicking, he was sinking into a pit of badness, he felt...empty. Already.

At that moment Joonmyeon was walking by, so Chanyeol flagged him down.

"What is it?"

Chanyeol gestured to the screen. "He taped over the cameras."

Joonmyeon let out a sigh. ". That's the third time this week."

"What happens now?"

"I guess I have to go assign you a knew person to watch."

"Wait, what?" Chanyeol turned rapidly to look at Joonmyeon.

"Yeah. That's what my boss said to do."

Chanyeol sighed over and over.

"You can go to the break room until I can assign you a new person to watch."

"A, a new person?"

Joonmyeon nodded. "Yeah, there's nothing we can do at this point."

Chanyeol slumped into his office seat. What was he going to do now?

~~~~~~~~~~
Mope. Moping was what he was going to do.
It had been weeks and Chanyeol was still moping. Not even the old cat lady he watched now named Pearl could lift his spirits; when watching her, all Chanyeol could think of was that Baekhyun's favorite Rupaul's Drag Race queen was Pearl. He just doesn't have the heart anymore.
He missed Baekhyun. It was ridiculous. He knew the guy, but he didn't, really. Baekhyun had only been in his life for a little while. They had never met in person. Baekhyun did not even know he existed. And yet, he missed him.
Chanyeol tried his best to hide it...but he was not ever good at hiding things. He had been visibly mopey again, for weeks. And of course, Kyungsoo had noticed.
At first, Kyungsoo had . And Chanyeol knew he deserved it.
But the weeks had passed, and even Kyungsoo had to admit that Chanyeol had it bad. He felt sorry for him. Kyungsoo. Felt sorry for him.
That day, Kyungsoo had spoken to him about it. Yeol, if this is affecting you this much...you have to just, go for it. Go after Baekhyun. He had sighed that disappointed old man sigh. I'm giving you my blessing.
But...he couldn't. That would be crazy, right? To go after Baekhyun? That wouldn't be right.
Chanyeol mulled over all this as he drove home from work that afternoon. The sun shining through the windows of his car seemed to taunt him, trying to penetrate the cloud of his sour mood.
He couldn't, right? He couldn't just show up at Baekhyun's house and declare his love for him. He couldn't give this a chance, could he?
But...he could. Kyungsoo had given him his blessing. He knew where Baekhyun lived. If Baekhyun called him a creep, then that was that. He was probably right, anyways. If this failed, it would fail and it would just be over. Chanyeol could stop mulling over the what ifs. And as unlikely as it was, the plan could succeed. Chanyeol could at least get a chance with Baekhyun.
it. He was going to try.
For the first time in weeks a grin came onto Chanyeol's face. Adrenaline began to build in his belly and he turned away from where he was supposed to go straight from his house, barelling just under the speed limit. He had life again, energy in his veins, and he was going to at least try.
He pulled up outside the restaurant he had bought Baekhyun chicken nuggets from before, double parking and leaping out. Five minutes later he hopped back inside, a large bucket of nuggets sitting in the passenger seat. Chanyeol could imagine Baekhyun in that seat instead, snacking with a big grin on his face. Maybe because of the food, maybe because of Chanyeol. It was an unlikely thing, but who knew? Chanyeol was taking his chance.
Moments later he parked right in front of Baekhyun's apartment building. Nerves built in his belly but he felt way too alive to let it really get to him. He bounded up to the doorway on his long legs and rang the doorbell.
A few minutes a groggy voice answered, and Chanyeol felt his heart melt. "Mmh, hello?"
"Delivery for Baekhyun!"
"Coming."
Chanyeol alternated his weight between his two legs, almost bouncing as he stood. Oh my god oh my god oh my god. This was the first time he was going to see Baekhyun in real life too; he hadn't even thought about that. Suddenly he heard the sound of feet running down stairs, the click of the front door opening-
And then...there he was. Standing before Chanyeol, in sweatpants and a stained t-shirt and hair sticking up every which way. He was so pretty. Prettier than on camera; Chanyeol was speechless. He was short too, tiny....but mostly pretty.
"Uh....a-are you sure you have the right person?" Baekhyun suddenly spoke, the sleep still in his voice.
Right. This was real life. Chanyeol needed to be a human being. "Yeah. Yeah. Th-this is for you." Hesitantly, he hands the bucket of chicken nuggets over to Baekhyun. Baekhyun looks at Chayeol, then the bucket, then back to Chanyeol, his eyebrows quirking adorably.
"What is going on?" He speaks slowly; his voice sounds even better in person.
But Chanyeol sighs. He has to explain. "Okay. So...um...you know about the FBI agent thing?"
Baekhyun scoffs. "Like the meme?"
"It's...it's not just a meme."
"So..."
"Yeah. I'm your FBI agent. Or, I was."
"Okay, wait a second. How the hell am I supposed to know that you're not just some guy?"
Immediately, Chanyeol whipped out his badge on instinct. It was the first time he'd bee able to whip out the badge, after all. Then he pulled out some official documets from his bag as well as his building entry badge. Baekhyun poored over all of it carefully before looking up at Chanyeol.
"So, you work for the FBI. Apparently you were assigned to watch me...why?"
"I...actually don't know. They said you were a security threat but I really didn't think so-"
"I mean I hate the government a little, no offense, but enough to watch me?"
"None taken. I hate the government too."
Baekhyun chuckled a little bit before going cold again. "But...why are you at my house? How do you know where I live? Are...are you the same guy that gave me the chicken nuggets last month?"
"First of all....yeah. I gave you the chicken nuggets. Your address is part of your surveillance profile too."
"This is...absolutely terrifying."
"I...I'm sorry, Baekhyun. I just...watching you for all that time...I fell in love, okay? I know it sounds ridiculous and kinda creepy but I couldn't help it. I saw you at your best and your worst, I saw you and...and that made me fall. Seriously. And once you taped over your phone and laptop camera, I got switched to surveying another person. But I couldn't live without you. All these weeks I've been, just, totally depressed. A mess. My friends have even noticed. So...I'm here. Telling you, even though I'm a total stranger in your eyes, how I feel. I didn't think I had anything to lose. I...I wanna see you, Baekhyun."
Baekhyun stood there, completely silent, for probably about fifteen seconds with his mouth agape. When he finally became a person again, he immediately reached for the door. "What the ..." he said, taking steps back. "What the ..."
"Please, Baekhyun, please don't think I'm a creep. Well...I guess you can think I'm a creep, that's valid, but don't think I'm creepy enough to ignore. I know this is totally crazy but I'm legit. I swear."
Baekhyun gave Chanyeol an up and down look and flushed but still start moving closer towards his front door. "I'm out. I'm out."
"Baekhyun!" Chanyeol begged. He'd finally seen Baekhyun in person, heard the sound of his real voice, had come this far. He didn't want to give up yet. He couldn't. "Just one date, okay? Give me one date. We'll go somewhere really public where a lot of other people are. Just...one chance."
Baekhyun froze. He looked from the chicken nugget bucket, to the ground, to Chanyeol, and gave him a long, hard look. "Fine. But just one date, okay?"
Slowly, Chanyeol grinned. "Okay."
~~~~~six months later~~~~~

Chanyeol breathed a sigh of relief as he walked into his apartment. Work was over, he was finally home, and now he could truly relax.

He didn't receive an answer as the front door shut and could faintly hear the sound of Rupaul's Drag Race going. Baekhyun must not have heard him come in, and Chanyeol smiled at the thought of being able to surprise him.

Once his shoes were off he padded his way into the bedroom, smiling at the sight of his boyfriend. He was sitting on the bed in a pile of tangled sheets, bag of chips beside him, laptop blaring (with the camera still covered, of course).

That first date Baekhyun agreed to go on had turned into two more dates, then two more, then Chanyeol coming up to the apartment for the first time, to Chanyeol coming into that apartment every night, to finally moving in one month ago. It was weird, having that bedroom he'd stared at through his computer screen for so long become his own room. And it was even weirder having that guy he'd stared at through his computer screen for so long become his boyfriend.

But while it was weird, more than anything, it was magical. Finally Baekhyun noticed his presence and looked up, eyes sparkling and mouth blooming into that beautiful bright smile of his.

"Hi baby," Chanyeol said, leaning down to kiss his cheek. Baekhyun unceremoniously wrapped his arms around him and tugged him down onto the bed, soothing him with a smile and a kiss.

"Finally. I've been waiting for you forever!"

"Work ended fifteen minutes ago, c'mon. I raced home so fast I could've killed someone."

"For me? I mean, it's what I deserve." Both men shared a little laugh as they laid beside each other.

"How was your day off?" Chanyeol asked.

"Good," Baekhyun answered with a shrug. "Woke up at 1 pm. Watched TV all day. Had chips and salsa for brunch. Missed you. How was work?"

"Not bad, actually. Pearl got a new cat!" Chanyeol was still stuck watching the old cat lady Pearl all day for work. But he didn't mind it so much anymore, now that he had Baekhyun to come home to.

"Really? Does it have a name yet?"

"I think she's calling it Kerfuffle..."

Baekhyun made a face. "Interesting."

"Yup, that's what I thought. And what Kyungsoo said."

"Don't go falling for her now, okay?" Baekhyun spoke teasingly.

"Are you kidding?"

"Well that's how you fell for me, isn't it? Watching me through the screen all day? It's not totally-"

Chanyeol interrupted Baekhyun's words with a strong kiss on the lips. "Baekhyun, baby."

Baekhyun blinked teasingly at him.

"You'll always be my one and only."

Baekhyun groaned at his cheesiness and hid his face in Chanyeol's chest, shy. Chanyeol held him all the more tight. How could he have gotten more lucky?
