Youngni stood a meter away from the door. Taeguk was happily in a boy’s? man’s? arm. Her short arms tightly wrapped around his neck. What was their relationship? Something that close? His black hoodie, ripped black jean, and black Old Skool Vans shoe didn’t make him look any less suspicious. She spotted the cap Taeguk knocked off his head on the floor. The cap was even black.      She couldn’t deny it though. He looked attractive.      “My little cutie,” the boy pulled his head back to kiss both of Taeguk’s cheeks. Then he puckered his lips for Taeguk to kiss.      “I miss you.” Taeguk smiled.      “Me too,” he flashed his white teeth before cocking his head to the side, “is that kimchi fried rice I’m smelling?” He invited himself inside still holding onto Taeguk. His eyes were glued onto the wooden spoon covered in scorched fried rice. He shifted Taeguk to one side and took the spoon out of Youngni’s hand. Her jaw opened watching him eating the rice glued onto the spoon.  Her eyes narrowed, zeroing to the intruder. Who the hell is he?      “Taeguk come here,” Youngni attempted to protect Taeguk from her so-called uncle.      “Hey,” the boy swallowed and took a step back to prevent Youngni from reaching Taeguk. “I miss her. Can’t I just hold her for longer?”      “I don’t know you,” Youngni attempted again, taking a step forward. The boy took another step back and stole another kiss on Taeguk’s cheek. Youngni gagged, realizing he’s been kissing Taeguk at all the same spot she did. Goodness, was that stranger indirectly kissing her?      “This cutie knows me,” he smiled and looked at Taeguk, “right?”      Taeguk nodded obediently stunning Youngni. She hadn’t seen Taeguk behaved in such an enthusiastic manner the past month she spent with her niece.      “I want more kimchi fried rice,” she was struck by how attractive the person came off. “Is it in the kitchen? It is, huh?”      He grinned at her and made her heart skipped a beat. He invited himself into the house. He seemed to know the house especially well.      Youngni locked the door before following them into the kitchen.      “Mmm…,” he closed his eyes savoring in the flavor. Youngni opened and closed it without saying anything. Her hand formed a fist and her body trembled. She slowly brought her hand to her face, palming herself in embarrassment. “Mmm…Taeguk eat some,” he ate another spoonful before giving some to Taeguk.      “Auntie cooking is good,” Taeguk smiled and did a thumb up to the frozen Youngni.      “Mmm…not as good as Chaeyeon but good enough,” he laughed eating another spoonful.       Goodness, he was eating from the same spoon she did. Youngni was dying inside. She stomped forward and forcefully took the spoon out of his possession. She couldn’t believe an outsider just trespassed and ate her personal food. Her food was considered an intimate part of her. Not anyone could just eat it like that.        “I want more,” he pouted in confusion when she snatched the spoon. He slowly chewed while intensely stared at her. She stared back. She wasn’t going to lose. Apparently, it turned into some kind of a battle for her.      “You must be Youngni?” he raised an eyebrow after he swallowed.      Her jaw slightly dropped. How much did this handsome freak know? A crimson color appeared across her cheeks when she realized she’d been staring into his eyes the whole time.      “You must be,” he declared, proudly. “I can see the resemblance, though Chaeyeon is much more…beautiful.”       He nodded to himself and attempted to steal the wooden spoon back. Youngni came flying toward him when he tugged too forcefully. She gripped onto the spoon tighter than she intended. His knowledge wiped her out of her mind. With his fast reflex, he turned Taeguk to the side and she crashed on the opposite. Her head hung low. She covered her face, cringing. She wished there were such a thing called magic; invisibility was much needed.      He cleared his throat relieved when Taeguk broke the awkwardness. “Auntie, are you ok?”      She regretted nodding her head. Why did she even answer?      Taeguk and the boy exchanged looks before bursting out into a laughter. Taken by the sudden change of atmosphere, she hastily looked up. Her heart skipped a beat.      Her nose touched his. Her lips slightly brushed pass his. Goodness. She blinked so many times in hope he would disappear. No, she would disappear.       He took a step back, “I’m sorry.” He was as astonished. What just happened?        “Auntie, your face is red.” Youngni opened but nothing came out. She lost her voice. Officially.      “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to…” he started but she dashed away in anxiety.      He turned to Taeguk. Her innocent round eyes focused on him. “I’m hungry.”      He let out a light chuckle then pulled out a chair. “Here, I brought some japchae too.” He just remembered and picked up the bag he dropped some time in between.        Taeguk volunteered to get her Auntie as soon as her Uncle finished setting the table.      “No, I’ll go,” he interjected before she got out of her seat, “go ahead and eat. I’ll go get your Auntie.”      She nodded and put a spoonful of the japchae noodle in . Her eyes followed her Uncle disappearing into the dimly lit hallway.        He stopped outside of Chaeyeon’s room. A wild guess that she might be inside. He knocked once, twice. Nothing. He couldn’t even hear any sound coming from the kitchen.      “Youngni,” he called. Nothing.      He turned the doorknob and poked his head inside. Youngni’s back was facing him, sh
