I Like Me Better
MISCONCEPTIONThey arrived at the gallery right after dropping Jennie's bicycle at her father's shop.
"After you." Lisa opened the door for the petite woman as soon as they arrived at the place.
"Wow! This place is much bigger than I thought." Jennie was mesmerized when she saw the huge building in front of her.
"Oh, this place is not just an art gallery Jen. It also has a theater in it." Lisa explained as they entered the place.
"Ah here she is! Lisa what's up? Glad you could make it!" A woman about their age approached the lanky woman.
"Oh hey what's up Wendy Son!" Lisa noticed her and did their ‘secret handshake’ together.
"Who is this beautiful lady with you?" She shifted her attention to Jennie who is standing beside Lisa.
"Oh, how rude of me. Wends, this is Jennie my special friend. Jennie, this is Wendy; the owner of the art gallery and also my friend... But not that special." She introduced the two.
Wendy immediately reached out her hand to Jennie, and the latter gladly reached out her hand to the stranger for a handshake. But to her surprise, Wendy didn't shook it but she kissed the back of Jennie's hand instead.
"What is this beautiful work of art doing here with you? She should be displayed in my gallery for her exceptional beauty." Wendy uttered after kissing Jennie's hand.
Lisa took Jennie's hand away from her friend's grip.
"Sorry dude, you can't have her. She's mine." Lisa smiled at Wendy, then started walking upstairs while holding Jennie's hand.
The latter was taken aback by Lisa's response to her friend. She noticed Jennie's flushed face, she was aware that her reply to Wendy took Jennie by surprise.
"She's a womanizer, you need to be careful around her." She whispered to Jennie.
"Ah... It's not like she'll actually like someone like me." Jennie shyly retorted.
"I've been friends with her since high school, trust me I know when she actually likes someone." Lisa reassured her.
"We're here! I'll leave you two to check out the gallery." Wendy immediately left them when they reached the room full of paintings, ceramics, some sculptures, and some photographs.
"How about we roam the entire gallery. Then tell me what you think, okay?" Lisa smiled at her.
Jennie didn't notice that while she was busy looking at the art works, Lisa was just following and observing her. But Jennie suddenly stopped in front of a porcelain made daisy sculpture.
"Do you like it?" Lisa queried.
"It's beautiful." Jennie smiled sweetly while looking at the flower sculpture.
"You seemed to be so fond of daisies... You also have a diamond daisy for a necklace." Lisa looked at Jennie, but she wasn't looking back at her. She's so fixated with the sculpture that she didn't notice the lanky woman's stare.
Then she moves on to the next art work until she found herself standing in front of a painting.
"Wait a minute... This painting looks like my necklace..." She pointed at the painting then shifted her gaze to Lisa.
The latter walked to her side and smiled. "What do you think?" She slightly turned her head to look at her.
"How did this..." She stopped for a moment when she noticed the signature at the bottom left of the painting.
K. Lalisa Manoban
"Ooh! It got your name on it. Did you paint this?" Jennie is astonished with her discovery.
Lisa just gave her a charming smile in response.
"When did you..." Jennie paused for a moment once more when she turned around and saw the entire hallway full of portraits of her.
She quickly scanned each portrait and looked at the artist's signature and it all had...
"K. Lalisa Manoban..." She checked each and every portrait and it had Lisa's signature on it.
She turned to look at the other woman, her face is all flustered.
"Wendy asked me about two months ago to showcase my skills in painting because she wanted to display it in her soon to open art gallery, I told her I would do it once I found my inspiration. And so I did... I found it in you." Lisa looked so calm when she is explaining to the petite woman.
"Me? Your inspiration?" Lisa can't seem to believe Lisa's words.
"Mm." The latter just nodded. She smiled at her and continued on walking along the hallway.
As she walks at the hallway scanning each and every portrait of her, she noticed that every single one of it is based on their casual meetings.
But when she arrived at the last painting in the hallway her eyes grew wide, her heart pounded wildly and her hands turned cold when she saw a portrait with two people in it. It was a painting of Lisa and Jennie's kiss.
She turned to look at Lisa but she is nowhere to be found. There's a lot of questions in her head right now. What is really going on?
Jennie takes another look at the painting before looking
