MISCONCEPTIONJennie's POV
"Jennie! Honey, there's someone out here waiting for you!" I heard my mom calling me from downstairs.
"Huh? What time is it?" I searched for my phone half asleep to check the time. It's 7:30AM, who could that be? It's still early in the morning, I wanted to sleep some more.
I dragged myself lazily out of my bed and went straight to the bathroom. I washed my face and brushed my teeth, then went downstairs wearing just my comfortable short shorts and my spaghetti strapped undershirt. I mean, I'm inside my house right? And I'm comfortable wearing just these. As I was descending from the stairs I got a glimpse of someone wearing a grey blazer with white v-neck t-shirt under it, as I continued my steps I was utterly shocked by who I just saw.
"Hi Jen! Good morning!" She smiled shyly, trying not to look directly at me who is wearing my overly comfortable clothes.
OH MY GAH! This can't be happening. I ran back upstairs as fast as I could and went directly to my closet to find something a little decent to wear. I grabbed the first thing that I could get my hands on to, a black oversized Nirvana T-shirt and a— pyjama? I sighed and wore what I just grabbed immediately not to waste any time because Lisa is downstairs waiting for me! At least what I'm wearing now is a little decent.
I ran back downstairs again, and then there goes Lisa who stood up immediately when she saw me descend from the stairs.
"Hi Jen!"
She waved while smiling at me. Lisa seemed amused at what she just witnessed a while ago.
I approached Lisa timidly, while holding an uneasy smile— embarassed of what she just witnessed. I could've sworn that my face just feels numb and hot while my feet and my hands are as cold as the first time that I took a glimpse of her 5 minutes ago.
"Oh hi— Lisa."
I waved at her. I tried to avoid eye contact with her as she was looking at me still amused.
Sensing that I am embarassed of what she just witnessed a while ago, she smiled at me and reassured me with her words. "Don't worry, I didn't see anything."
"Oh I— I wasn't— I wasn't expecting yo—" I stuttered as I was trying to explain to her about what happened, so she cutted me off before I could even finish my explanation.
"Here." She handed me an envelop with my name on it.
"What is it?" I asked her.
"You're invited to my party, and don't worry about what you'll wear I got it here." She quickly handed me those three shopping bags beside her.
"I figured it was really a short notice and you won't have enough time to figure out what to wear so I bought everything you'll need for your get up for tonight." She explained.
I took the shopping bags and the envelop from her. Can't really process what's happening. My mind is in a state of shock right now, jeez!
"And oh! You can also bring a plus one with you if you want to." She added while looking at me with her dazzling eyes with both her hands in her pocket.
Can't really find the words to say, I heard my mom yell from the kitchen... "Jennie! Why aren't you offering your guest anything?! Ask her to stay for breakfast!"
We both turned our heads to the direction of my noisy mom who had both of her hands on her waist standing behind the kitchen counter.
"Oh it's okay Mrs. Kim! I'm in a hurry anyway." Lisa replied, looking at my mom while chuckling softly then she redirected her eyes on me.
"So, I'll see you tonight?" Lisa queried.
"Yeah— Yeah sure." I stuttered again.
"Do you want to stay for breakfast?" I asked her, just incase she changes her mind.
"I'd love to, but I gotta pick someone up at the airport." She explained. "I just came here to drop the invitation card for you." She added.
"See you later Jen." She smiled again at me as she walked towards the main door.
Seriously, if this woman keeps on giving me that precious smile I could die from a heart attack right now. She's just too gorgeous to handle.
As soon as Lisa left the house, I immediately ran upstairs and checked what's inside the shopping bags.
On the first shopping bag I saw a pair of white stilettos. The second shopping bag contains a dress, same color with the stilettos. A little conservative on the front but revealing at the back. Jeez! Where did Lisa find these? And did she personally chose this?
I opened the last shopping bag and there I saw a black box in it. I can't believe my eyes when I opened the said object, it contained a set of diamond accessories: earrings, necklace, and a bracelet.
I gasped upon seeing the accessories Lisa just bought for me.
"Do I have to pay for these?" The thought came to my mind. "Oh no, these are too expensive. I can't afford to pay for all of these things." I said to myself.
I reached for my phone at the table beside my bed and called Soojin. It took me a few minutes before she finally picked up the call.
"Soojin, hello?"
"Hey Jen, what's up?" My best friend uttered.
"I need your help about something, can you come by my house as soon as you can?" I asked her.
"Well, you're in luck my dear because I've got nothing to do today. I'll meet you there in 10 minutes." She replied.
"Okay then, see you! Muah!" I kissed my phone screen upon hearing Soojin's response, she's really a life saver.
A few minutes later and I heard someone knocking on my bedroom door.
"Jen! It's me, your prettiest friend, Soojin." She announced from the other side of the door.
"It's not locked! Come in!" I told her.
"So, what's the big emergency that you have to summon me this morning?" Soojin queried.
I handed her the invitation card that Lisa gave me.
"I need you to help me dress up for tonights' party." I told my best friend.
"A party? Who invited you? Whose party is it?" Soojin started interrogating me. Yes, interrogating because that's what it feels like when she's asking me about something.
