Donghae was the love Jessica thought she could have, but never did.


She falls in love with Donghae on the first few weeks of their class when he laughs in front at a
mistake he did while reporting. Since then, Jessica would often glance at the windows to her right
because beside Kibum, the silent guy she seats next to, was Donghae.


By some happy chance, Jessica discovers that Donghae likes her too. She tricks him into a website
disguised as a love compatibility predictor which requires his name and his crush's, but clicking the
Submit button only sent the names into her email. She was ready too see Kwon Yuri's name in it,
being the class muse and all; only to find a wrongly spelt Jeshika Jung under the category: CRUSH.


Jessica didn't make a big fuzz about this discovery to anyone of Yoona, Seohyun or Taeyeon. It was
too good to be wasted by shameless friends who'd likely to throw her at his path everytime Donghae
passes by. But this, to her, was an unofficial declaration that they had gone exclusive, knowing that
he likes her too. One detail she missed was that Donghae didn't know her feelings.


He gets into an extra class with Yoona and Jessica finds it fascinating to have her close friend and
soon-to-be lover spend time together. However she may like the idea, she knew it was dangerous. 
Jessica knows her friend too well and there is no hiding that she fancies Donghae.


On that Valentine's day, though she wasn't expecting anything (she actually was), Jessica quietly sits
next to Donghae as Kibum already dropped out. She hears Eunhyuk pass by and prompting Donghae,
"Come on, ask her already." Hearing this, Jessica knew her heart will explode any second.


So Donghae asks her, "Sica, can you do me a favor?"


"Yeah, sure, what is it?"


"Can you help me give these chocolates to Yoona?"


(She implodes)


And then she gives him a laugh, a slight blush and a broken heart. "Oh, so you like Yoona." She shows
him a smile - fake, but he didn't notice anyway. "Yeah, sure what should I do?"

Jessica had to endure a long four months of having Donghae join them at lunch, with him seating beside
Yoona. It was hard making everything seemed like no one was hurting and that her smile, albeit not as
often, was genuine. But she managed through, even if Shindong keeps telling her, "He used to like you,
you know."


After four months, Yoona breaks it off with no definite reason. Jessica didn't have any sides, because she
was Yoona's friend, but so was Donghae, regardless of her romantic attraction to him. It had affected him
greatly while Yoona only had concerns to find another love. Eventually wounds turned into scars and hearts
were built anew and they were ready to love again although there were still traces of feelings that lingered.


Yoona finds another man who, in Jessica's assumption, makes her happy. She, herself, finds another one
to love - not a man, but herself first. Whatever happened to Donghae were only unconfirmed rumors that
Jessica heard of; some say he's been better while others say he's still caught up with the pain.


This Valentine's, Jessica decides to stay longer in school after class. She spends the rest of the day with
Seohyun and Taeyeon as Yoona is off to a date. And then unexpectedly, someone comes and seats beside
her making her heart beat when it wasn't supposed too.


She is amazed by how so much lingering feelings can do.


It wasn't romantic, it wasn't sweet; it wasn't cheesy or one of a kind -- it was simple and it was fun and it
was unexpected, but it was enough to make her go home with the widest smile and the reddest cheeks;
because for once, on this Valentine's day, Jessica had the love she can never have.
