The first surprise or the last?

A million surprises

After having dinner at a sushi place, Seung Chan suggested to go to a park just to walk around to which Cindy agreed. What she didn’t know that this was his plan. He spend weeks trying to figure how to surprise her and he really hoped this was going to work. The night was clear and It was at a short distance so they decided to walk there. They strolled along hand in hand as they entered the park. The place was almost empty except for some couples sitting on the grass staring up at the stars.

“The sky looks so pretty.” She sat on the bench and he followed scooting closer to her. “I’m so glad we decided to come here. I want this night to never end.” He felt her lean her head on his shoulder. His arm went around her to pull her closer. They actually haven’t gone out on a real date lately since she was busy with concerts and doing variety shows. While he was producing for a variety show and be would away time to time.

“Me either.” he replied pressing a kiss on the side of her head. “I’m going to miss you when you go to Jeju island tomorrow.” She lifted her head to glance at him. “It’s only a photo shoot, Can’t you call sick?” He looked at her deadpan then stuck out his lower lip in a pout. Cindy couldn’t help but brake out in laughter.

“It’s only for a few days.” She kissed his cheek then placed her head back on his shoulder. “I promise I will call you”

“I will be waiting for that” he replied. Just as she was getting comfortable he took his arm away then stood up.

Cindy looked confused at what he was doing. He went behind the bench then covered her eyes with his hands. He smirked when she gasped in surprise.

“What are you doing?” She asked putting her hands on his.

“Remember when I told you about one my surprises? Well this is one of them.” He made her stand up then slowly walked to their destination with her eyes still covered. She didn’t know where she was going but after walking a few more steps she felt herself come to a complete stop.

“Ready?” He uncovered her eyes then placed his hands on her shoulders. She looked ahead and began to smile. At the far end of the park they had built an amusement park. From afar she can see the Ferris wheel and people screaming from the rides.

“An amusement park?” She said. “Its been so long since we have gone to one” The last they went to one was when she broke her leg and she had to go in a wheelchair which that day happens to be her birthday.

“See I told you you were going to like it” he beamed. “I know the last time we couldn’t do anything”

She looked back at him then crossed her arms. “If this is one of the surprises I wonder what’s the other one?” He shrugged his shoulders not saying anything else. She glanced back at the entrance but suddenly her face turned into worry.

“But there’s a lot of people here what if someone recognizes me?” He forgot about that minor detail. Glancing around he spotted a cart full of hats and t-shirts. Sighing she watched as he paid the guy then came back with two black hats. He bent down to her, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. He then placed the cap on her head. His fingers brushed against her cheek.

“You look beautiful” Cindy smiled sadly then looked at her hands. She wanted to have fun but she couldn’t help but feel anxious. The last time they tried this, she ended up hiding in the bathroom of the theater. He leaned down to kiss her cheek. “Hey it’s going to be okay this time. If at any moment you feel uncomfortable just tell me and we can leave okay?” She glanced up at him nodding. He placed his hat on his head so she doesn’t feel alone.

“You look handsome.” He bats his eyes playfully at her making her giggle. He took her hand then led her to the fair’s entrance. As people strided pasted her, Cindy pushed her hat farther down her face. But suddenly her face lit up as she saw all rides and the lights. People were laughing and having fun. Maybe they won’t even notice her, maybe just maybe this wasn’t going to be so bad.

One of the places they went in first was a haunted house. Cindy hid behind his back, holding on to his shirt. He glanced behind his shoulder smiling nervously but assured her it was going to be okay. But as soon as they went in she wasn’t sure who was more scared her or him? Seung Chan screamed at the top of lungs every time something would pop up while Cindy would bury her face into his shirt, sometimes scared then laughing when he was terrified. After they exited she could have sworn he was wiping tears from his eyes. But he was quick to defend himself.

“I wasn’t crying.” he said looking away. “I just had something in my eyes.” She rolled her eyes at him. “Come on, let’s go to the next ride.”

A guy glanced back at them as they walked by. “Huh, they look familiar.” He kept looking as they disappeared into the crowd but decided it was his imagination and hurried to find his friends.

They forgot the time as they rode different rides and played different games. Seung Chang was glad that he didn’t sick. Cindy pointed at the photo booth. She wanted to have something from this night. They choose from the many props then started to take pictures together. Cindy choose a clown wig then placed the other on Seung Chang’s head. She started to giggle while he smiled softly then they both looked at the camera.

They continued to take pictures with different props and positions. One of them with Seung Chan kissing her on the cheek. She went to go the same thing but at the last moment he turned his head to kiss her on the lips. Her eyes widen in surprise as he broke it. She broke in a grin then hit his shoulder softly. They locked eyes then leaned down he brushed his lips against hers again, she reciprocated by closing her eyes. Picking up where they left off before they left the house, he placed his hands on her waist pulling her closer. A soft moan escaped her lips as his lips trailed down her neck. But before they went any further a loud slam broke them apart. She looked around then fixed her hair, her face flushed. Good thing they were interrupted because who knows how far they would have gone. Seung Chang peeked outside the curtain.

“I think they left” She covered with her hand laughing. This was the second time in a night they are interrupted by someone. He kissed her forehead feeling glad that she was having fun for once. She was already stressing out about everything else.

They left the photo booth to pick up the photos. She gushed on cute they looked in them. Seung Chang nervously looked at his watch.

“We have time for one more ride. I want to show you something” As they went to their ride. He felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. Taking it out he read the name on the screen then slid the answer button.

“Hello?” He said. “Yes, PD”

Cindy turned around expecting Seung Chang to be behind her but he was no where in sight. She glanced around feeling nervous. There were a lot of people gathered so she couldn’t see him.

“Seung Chang?” She called. “Why did he go?”

Suddenly someone crashed into her knocking her hat off her head. “I’m sorry” said the guy bowing to her quickly. Cindy quickly picked up the hat from the ground and bowed back averting his eyes. The girl next to him was glancing at her with suspicion. “We were in a hurry for the next ride”

“It’s okay” she said quickly placing her hat back on her head trying to cover her face. The girl suddenly came to a realization. She tried to get her boyfriend’s attention but he was busy gazing at the person he bumped into wondering if he had seen her before. Cindy bowed her head then turned to leave when she heard it.

“Omo” The girl next to him suddenly pointed at her. “It’s Cindy” She felt her heart drop and she felt frozen in place. “I knew it was her” Cindy turned to them not knowing what to do.

Damn she thought.
