happy 2 years
Description
2 years after a breakup, Donghae finds himself sitting in a quaint retail shop atop a hill on the outskirts of Beijing. It costs 5 RMB for a postcard, 6 for an international stamp and another 3 for an envelope.
Of all the things one could do on the last night of a much-needed vacation, not many would think that sending a postcard to an ex would be on the top of anyone’s priority list. But Donghae decides to do so anyway.
Donghae sits and writes to his ex-boyfriend.
Foreword
I thought I’d never be able to let you go, he writes, the tip of the pen scratching lightly against the postcard. He had chosen a picture of an arched window, with the golden sunlight spilling across its surface and onto the cobblestone beneath. Donghae wonders if the succulent he had given Hyukjae still sits on his windowsill, and if it’s still alive.
It took me sometime — the way I’m sure it took you — to learn that life is about finding that someone you think you’d never be able to live without, and then learning that you can.

A/N: Don't worry, this won't be excessively angsty or sad. It's about a reconciliation with the past and making peace, and about moving on.
