"What exactly is this?"

"Can't you see it's obviously a piece of paper?"

Yoona could only shake her head at her fellow law student friend.

"That mouth of yours needs to be stitched," she said, rolling her eyes. "Imagine how beautiful the world would be if you didn't talk."

She chuckled when her friend responded with a raised middle finger. Glancing down at the paper, she saw the name 'Jennie Kim' scribbled in messy handwriting.

Her eyebrows furrowed as she looked at her friend, who gave her a puzzled look.

Glancing at the person whose name was written on the small piece of paper, she frowned when she caught Jennie Kim's gaze – a gaze that seemed to be filled with animosity. She wondered if she had done something to upset Jennie, but nothing came to mind.

In the middle of class, Yoona hastily scribbled a note to her friend and passed it over.

"Jennie keeps glaring at me and I have no idea why."

"Maybe it's because you led her on and then didn't take responsibility for your actions."

Yoona rolls her eyes, "It wasn't like that, and you know it. We just had different expectations."

"Don't worry, she won't kill you...probably."

"What do you mean probably?"

"Just kidding, but seriously, she looks like she could murder you with her eyes right now."

Yoona laughs nervously, "Thanks for the reassurance, you're a true friend."

"Just be glad she's not actually going to kill you. Maybe you should apologize and clear the air?"

Yoona sighs, "Knowing her I don't know if that's a good idea, but I'll think about it."

Just as Yoona passed the note back, the teacher caught them in the act and marched over to their desk, snatching the note from Yoona's hand.

"Is there something you two would like to share with the rest of the class?"

The whole class falls silent as the teacher begins to read the note aloud.

"'Jennie keeps glaring at me, and I have no idea why.' 'Maybe it's because you led her on and then didn't take responsibility for your actions.' [pauses] Ladies, I suggest you save your conversations for after class."

Yoona feels her face flush with embarrassment as she avoids eye contact with Jennie, who is now staring at her with a raised eyebrow. As the teacher walks back to the front of the room, Yoona leans over to her friend and whispers.

"I hope you're happy, now Jennie really is going to kill me."

The classroom was buzzing with excitement as the teacher announced that they would be doing a law activity and pairing up the students. Yoona hoped that she would be paired with one of her friends, but as luck would have it, she was paired with Jennie.

She looked over at Jennie, who was giving her a cold stare. She felt a chill run down her spine and she knew that it was going to be a long day.

"Lim Yoona, you'll be paired with Kim Jennie." the teacher announced.

Yoona stood up abruptly, surprising everyone in the classroom. "Great," she said sarcastically. "I'm paired with Jennie. If I don't make it out alive, please tell my family that I love them."

The class burst into laughter, but Jennie was not amused. She gave Yoona an icy stare, which made her feel even more uneasy.

The teacher gave Yoona a stern look. "Ms. Lim, that's not appropriate. You two will be partners for this activity and I expect you to work together and get along."

As the class went on, Yoona decided to try and make things right by sending Jennie a small smile in hopes that it would ease the tension between them. But instead of accepting Yoona's gesture, Jennie simply rolled her eyes at her.

Jennie was seething with anger as she cornered Yoona alone in the classroom after class. The other students quickly stepped out of the room, not wanting to feel Jennie's wrath. Yoona's heart started racing as she realized that Jennie was really mad at her.

As Jennie approached, Yoona tried to smile, hoping to ease the tension between them. "Wow, Jennie, did you lock us in here just so we could have some alone time?"

Jennie didn't return the smile, instead, she folded her arms across her chest and glared at Yoona. "Don't be ridiculous, this is serious. I'm really angry at you right now."

Yoona's heart raced as she tried to think of what she might have done wrong. "I'm sorry. I don't know what I did, but if I upset you, please tell me."

Jennie took a step closer to her, making her feel even more uncomfortable. "You don't know what you did? You really don't have a clue?" her voice was dripping with sarcasm.

Yoona grinned, "I mean I wouldn't ask you if I'd known, right?"

But Jennie didn't find Yoona's joke funny. Instead, she leaned in closer and spoke in a low voice. "I want to talk to you about your friend. The one who took responsibility for her mistake in class today."

"What about her?"

"I just want to say that I have more respect for her than I do for you right now. She had the guts to admit her mistake, but you're still making jokes even though I'm clearly upset with you."

Yoona hands up in surrender, "Hey, I'm just trying to lighten the mood. I didn't mean to make you more upset."

Jennie stood up straight and took a step back from her. "Maybe you should be like your friend who knows why and when to admit her mistakes rather than being an immature and childish as you always are."

Yoona scoffed and raised her eyebrow. "What are you talking about?"

"You know what, Yoona? I don't think we have much to talk about. It's like talking to a child."

Yoona looked up, her eyes flashing with anger. "Excuse me? What did you just say?"

Jennie didn't back down. "I said I don't want to talk to a child like you. You seem to be proud on being like that and that is something not on my level."

Yoona was loss of words when she heard that.

"I can't deal with this," Jennie muttered, her voice dripping with anger. "Make sure you're an adult the next time you speak with me."

"What -- " she spoke, but Jennie had already her heel and stormed out of the classroom.

Yoona watched Jennie's angry form while she seethed in frustration.

"She didn't just call me a child!"

Yoona was offended. She couldn't believe that Jennie had the audacity to call her a child, as if she was some sort of immature, naive kid, she was anything but a child. She was a young adult, with dreams and ambitions just like everyone else.

The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. She had always looked up to Jennie, admiring her confidence and strong personality. But now, that admiration had turned to resentment. How dare Jennie belittle her like that?

---

Yoona entered the bustling cafeteria, the smell of food wafting through the air. She scanned the area for her friends and spotted them at a table in the far corner. She made her way over, weaving through the crowded tables and dodging students.

As she approached, she could sense something was off. Her friends all had sly grins on their faces, and when she sat down, they immediately bombarded her with questions.

"What did you do to Jennie this time?" Seulgi teased, causing the others to burst into laughter.

"I didn't do anything," Yoona replied defensively.

Her friends just laughed, teasing her for making Jennie angry. Yoona didn't like being the center of attention, especially if it meant someone was upset with her.

Jisoo, spoke up. "You better watch yourself, Yoona. Jennie's got her protectors,"

But Yoona wasn't fazed. She was feeling particularly goofy today and her response came out more arrogant than she intended. "Please, Jennie's probably just on her red days." she quipped, earning laughter from her friends.

Jisoo rolled her eyes, but she couldn't help but smile at her ridiculousness. "You're lucky you're funny,"

Her friends laughed at the joke, but their laughter quickly died down when they noticed Jennie glaring at their table specifically at Yoona. Yoona shifted uncomfortably in her seat, feeling the weight of Jennie's gaze on her.

Deciding to change the topic, Yoona said. "So, did you guys hear about the new transferee at Momo's section?"

Her friends picked up on the cue and the conversation quickly shifted to the transferee. Yoona breathed a sigh of relief, grateful that they had moved on from the awkward situation.

As they chatted, Yoona couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt gnawing at her. She didn't like the thought of someone being angry with her, especially someone like Jennie who was known for her sharp tongue and quick temper.

After lunch, Yoona made her way to her next class, trying to shake off the feeling of unease. She couldn't help but wonder what she had done to upset Jennie and how she could make it right.

"Does it have to do anything last night?" she muttered to herself. "I rather skip,"

So, without a second thought, she made the decision to skip her afternoon class and head to the soccer field. It was one of her favorite spots on campus, a sprawling green field surrounded by towering trees.

When she arrived at the field, Yoona made her way to her favorite spot under a towering tree that provided a perfect amount of shade. She sat down, feeling the cool grass tickle her bare legs. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter.

Yoona had always been a smoker, finding comfort in the way the nicotine calmed her nerves and helped her focus. She lit a cigarette and took a deep drag, feeling the smoke fill her lungs and relax her body.

Jennie Kim.

Yoona tried to push the thoughts out of her mind. But every time she remembered that name, she couldn't help but feel a sense of bitterness. She tried to tell herself that it wasn't a big deal, that Jennie was just having a bad day, but the sting of her words lingered.

She was hurt and angry, but also confused. Had she really been acting like a child? Was that why Jennie had said what she did?

Yoona couldn't shake the feeling that she had been unfairly judged. She knew she wasn't perfect, but she didn't think she deserved to be talked down to like that. The thought of confronting Jennie crossed her mind, but she quickly dismissed it.

Yoona was overjoyed when she discovered that Jennie had taken the same law class as her. She knew that Jennie was intelligent and hardworking and having her in the class would only make things more exciting.

She couldn't help but feel amused at the thought of teasing Jennie in class just to see her reaction. She had always found Jennie's serious demeanor to be endearing and enjoyed watching her facial expressions whenever she .

Now that they were in the same class, Yoona knew that things were going to get even more interesting. She always looked forward to the lively discussions and debates that surely ensue with Jennie's intelligent input and her playful banter.

She was lost in her thoughts when suddenly, she heard someone approaching her. She looked up and saw Kai, Jennie's boyfriend, walking towards her with a scowl on his face.

"Don't tell me your devil summoned you here?" Yoona asked, surprised to see him.

He didn't respond but instead went straight to the point. "I heard you were the reason why Jennie broke up with me. Is that true?"

Yoona raised an eyebrow, finding the accusation amusing. "Oh really? And how did you come to that conclusion?"

He gritted his teeth, clearly agitated. "Don't play dumb with me, Yoona. I know you've been trying to get between us ever since we started dating."

Yoona chuckled. "You give me too much credit, Kai. I have better things to do than try to sabotage your relationship with her."

He wasn't convinced. "Then why did she break up with me?"
