The Happy Ending

Five Sisters and a Wedding

It was another day in the Lee household. The house was serene with only the chirping of the birds surrounding the area. Mostly, the people around would’ve been sleeping but not Minjoo.

She was looking at the wall of achievements and counted the medals her siblings had. She stopped at her own share that only had her pictures and ribbons. Those pieces of crafted arrangements in the medium of cloth brought a mark of achievement but it didn’t cut close to what her other siblings had, especially with what Hyewon had. It made her have flashbacks to what she had in life before, that was she was a good student, but she chose her passion rather than her focus and practicality with life. She just never thought that too much of it had gone down the drain through an of a girlfriend and an unstable job.

It was then Hyewon had woken up and joined her sister in contemplation. The two may had differences in principles and had a mishap because of a woman but it was about time they settled their own differences. Because no matter how the world might turn upside down, they’ll always be sisters.

They’ll always be family.

“Morning, Minguri.”

“Morning, Kwangbae-unnie.” Minjoo replied then talked. “Ssamu-unnie’s so full of herself. She thinks she’s the loser. Look at this.” She points at her share of the wall of achievements. “It’s pretty obvious who’s the real loser in this family.”

“You’re the same with her.” Hyewon sighed. “There’s no loser in this family.”

“Give me a break…”

“It’s true.” Hyewon nudged her lightly. “We’re not losers. Papa Chaeyeon and Mama Eunbi didn’t teach us to become one.”

Minjoo chuckled, saying. “You had to sugarcoat your words again…but it’s okay. I already accepted it.” She lowered her head. “Maybe that’s why I fooled myself and hit on Sakura back.”

Hyewon’s happy expression turned sad. Minjoo thought it was awkward but it was one thing she needed to open up in order for them to get along and move on from that past. Minjoo faced Hyewon and spoke. “Kwangbae-unnie.”

Hyewon gulped and decided to look at her back. “What is it?”

“When you and Kkura broke up and when she was hitting on me, I tried to resist. In all honesty, I tried. I really tried.” Minjoo started. “I promise to you that I tried because I wanted you two to come back to each other…but…”

“But?” Hyewon asked as she listened.

“…every day that had passed had gotten harder. It got difficult because…I loved the feeling of being loved. I loved the feeling that someone appreciates you for who you are. I thought Kkura could give that. I gave her that love so she should do the same, right?”

Minjoo bit her lip as she resisted her urge to cry. Nonetheless, Hyewon assured her through a hold of her hands. She wanted Minjoo to know that she was here to listen.

“I hit Kkura back…because when you went overseas for your career, I felt like I lost a best friend who understood me…and a sister who understood me even if I’m just a person who couldn’t cut close to what she had.” Minjoo spoke as a tear dropped. “I got hurt when you got mad at me and that you avoided me…because my actions depict that I had no right. I had no right to happy with Kkura and to love her because she was your ex…and because of the happiness that I wanted to have, I hurt you…and I’m sorry…”

Minjoo broke down after those words. Hyewon couldn’t to see Minjoo hurt any longer that she hugged her out of comfort, forgiveness, and love.

“Shh…” Hyewon cupped Minjoo’s cheeks and wiped her tears. “I’m also sorry. I let my anger and hurt blind me from seeing that you’ve been hurt too…I’m really sorry, Minguri…”

Hyewon joined her in the crying brigade and in the hugs and messages of apologies. Hyewon and Minjoo even leaned their foreheads against each other and regained their bond through that time of forgiveness.

“We’re best friends again, right?” Minjoo asked, wiping her own tears.

“Of course, not just now but forever…” Hyewon added, pinching Minjoo’s cheeks. “I’ll make it up to you, okay?”

“Okay. Me too.”

They hugged each other again and comforted each other, wiping each other’s tears and regaining the smiles that they shared.

“Isn’t that cute?” The two looked to see Chaewon. “You should consider this as a practice for your sad scenes, Minguri.”

Minjoo whined but Chaewon and Hyewon went to tease the third sibling. Minjoo didn’t bat and ended up laughing. It was then she had an idea and nudged Hyewon. “I think…we need to see someone pretty special.”

“And who would that be?” Hyewon and Chaewon asked.

Minjoo made a gesture like she was playing guitar and the two oldest siblings had the idea. Chaewon applauded and called Hitomi, Miu, and Yuri to join in this plan. Hyewon gave Minjoo a good pat and said, “Now that’s a good idea…”

+++

With Chaewon giving the word, the plan was set into action. After a little bond with their family, they went to a bar. Miu parked the van in a corner of a street as Hyewon and Minjoo hopped off.

“Come on. We need to hurry.” Hyewon added as she held Minjoo’s hand.

“Wait, Minguri-unnie!” Yuri spat as she got out.

“Why, Jjoyul? Where are you going?” Minjoo asked.

“We’re coming with you. Who knows what that will do to you?”

“Relax. We’re just gonna talk. She’s not like that.”

“Take Kwangbae-unnie with you. She’s gonna be the backup and evidence,” said Chaewon.

“Unnie, are you even sure about this?” Hitomi asked.

Hyewon could only nod and Minjoo. Hitomi and Chaewon reminded them to be careful while Yuri was ready in case anything bad happens. Hyewon and Minjoo got to a bar where Sakura would usually stand-by. With the early morning, there would be less customers and more time to talk. As they got inside the bar, the usual greetings from Aoi came, the usual ambiance of less customers was visible, but not the next thing that Minjoo saw.

At a farther seat was Kkura…

…and she was sitting on Kaeun’s lap, making out with her.

Minjoo felt disgusted. She couldn’t believe that the woman she grew up loving turned out to be a daughter of a . All those times she had were wasted that she wanted to cry for her incompetence.

It was then that Kaeun saw them and broke from Sakura’s kiss. Kaeun mentioned that Minjoo was here and walked away pissed, leaving Sakura to console her. Sakura then returned to Minjoo, befuddled on what she would say.

“Min…honey…” Sakura held her hand. “…let me explain…”

Minjoo drove her hand away, eyes watery from what she had witnessed. “I turned my own family away for you…and I hurt my sister for you. But they were right…” She wiped a tear that was dropping. “…you were just playing with me…and you made me waste my whole life for you…”

“Min – “

A slap greeted Sakura’s face. Minjoo had gotten mad. “That was for Kwangbae-unnie!” And another stronger slap. “That was from me, you !”

Sakura rubbed her face. At one moment, Sakura would’ve been guilty and Minjoo would’ve ran away from her and back to her family…

…but Sakura snickered. “Pathetic. You’re just as desperate as your sister…”

Hyewon raised her eyebrow out of anger. Minjoo turned back was close to punching Sakura’s face for showing her true colors. It was then Hyewon gave Minjoo her permission by holding her bag.

“What the did you say?! Come here!” Minjoo snapped and pulled Sakura’s hair.

Sakura suddenly turned into a cowardly cat as Minjoo turned into an angry frog. Minjoo kept holding Sakura’s hair and dragging her out of the bar. Sakura screamed for her dear life, even calling Kaeun to help her. For the rest of the Lee siblings, they got out of the van to help after seeing the situation. Minjoo pushed Sakura towards Chaewon and Hitomi while Yuri prevented Kaeun from interfering.

“What’s the tea with this ?” Chaewon asked, pinning Sakura’s right arm and leg.

“She called me a desperate ! She even insulted Kwangbae-unnie!” Minjoo snapped.

“Oh, no! You didn’t?!” Chaewon spat at Sakura.

“You should never do that to my sibling because you have no right!” Hitomi added, pinning Sakura’s left arm and leg.

“What should I do?!” Minjoo huffed.

“Teach her a lesson!” Hitomi spat.

“Just hit her,” said Chaewon.

“Kick her .” Hyewon added while massaging Minjoo’s shoulders.

Chaewon, Hitomi, and Hyewon cheered for Minjoo to do her bidding. Minjoo was fired up because of those cheers that she readied herself. “Hear that, Sakura?! They want me to kick your !” She made a fist and moved like a character from Mortal Kombat. “Prepare for it, !”

The cheers grew louder. Minjoo counted to three and with every passing count, Sakura thought she was given the ultimatum to her playful misdeed. The third count came and Minjoo’s fist aimed at Sakura.

Sakura had her eyes shut and screamed. Luckily, Minjoo’s fist was only inches away from her face. Instead, she just grabbed Sakura’s collar. “Run!”

Sakura ran away like a wuss. Minjoo took time to relieve herself and got applauds from her siblings, telling her that she did a good job.

“Come on, midget. Let me through.”

“Who are you calling a midget?!” Yuri snapped.

“Knock it off, Jjoyul. She’s not worth the effort.” Hitomi added as she pulled Yuri away. “Let’s go.”

Yuri agreed to her sisters’ remarks and followed them. Hitomi, Minjoo, and Hyewon were by her side as Chaewon walked last and made a threat to Kaeun to just buzz off.

The Lee sisters walked away with a resolved case of infidelity and with a good sense of accomplishment through squeals and tight hugs. Minjoo thanked her sisters a lot for backing her up.

“Psh…enough with the mushy feelings.” Chaewon nudged her. “The important thing is that we’re all together.” and all of them couldn’t agree more.

+++

Erii was sitting by the dining table as she watched her aunts stack the filled halves of cookie sandwiches in a pattern. She also noticed Hitomi scoping through the kitchen’s entrance.

“Hiichan, any signs?” Chaewon asked. “Be on the lookout, alright?”

“Not yet. We can still stack.” Hitomi said and returned to help them. “There’s no one outside.”

“Still, be on the lookout,” said Hyewon. “We’ll follow the usual pattern: chocolate, peanut butter, strawberry, butter, cream.”

The sisters obeyed and did their own stacks. Erii watched with utter amazement and curiosity, just like a novice watching a senior work. For the first four of the Lee sisters, it was a real reenactment of memory lane, its essence just as wonderful as it was when they were still kids.

“This is what we did when we were kids. We do it when it’s almost Christmas.” Minjoo shared to Erii. “The usual pattern was butter, chocolate, cream. Butter, chocolate, cream – “ She smudged a filled half on Hyewon’s face. “ – chocolate!”

Hyewon yelped but she counterattacked. She and Minjoo had made their faces into canvases of butter and cream. Erii chuckled a bit like Hitomi did and Chaewon said, “That’s what they do, Erii, just like when we were kids. These two love to play and smear each other and –“

“ – you also join us!” Hyewon smudged Chaewon’s face, just at the center of her nose down to .

“Haha…I forgot I was included…” Chaewon chuckled and grabbed her pair of filled halves. “You really want a piece of me?!”

Chaewon joined the duo and kept on smearing each other, doubling Erii’s chuckles and Hitomi’s sighs. “Aigoo…the adults are behaving like kids.”

The three stopped and Chaewon assaulted to smear Hitomi’s face. Hitomi whined and ran off when Minjoo and Hyewon cornered her. Hitomi covered her face but the sisters were quick to smear the fillings on her puffy cheeks. Now, Hitomi was the most ‘canvassed’.

“Ah…hold up~” Hitomi whined and adjusted her glasses.

Minjoo and Chaewon continued to mess with Hitomi. Erii continued to watch and managed to join thanks to Hyewon’s boops of chocolate and cream. Erii’s laughs came, even a call that no one expected.

“Ah~ Mommy Hyewon~”

Hyewon froze on the call. The sisters even stopped and cheered lightly. That one call may be small, but it had big meanings. Hyewon wanted to cry but instead, she continued to have that quality time with Erii, to which the child acknowledged her with the same call and more smears, even Minjoo joined with Hyewon to have fun with Erii, giving Erii a whole laugh.

Miu came to the kitchen and had to stop them. The sisters did, especially when Miho was guiding a blindfolded Eunbi towards them. The sisters lined up and prepared themselves, with Erii in between Minjoo and Hyewon. Miho guided Eunbi to more steps and took her blindfold off.

“Welcome to the Lee’s Limbo of Loveliness~” Miu spoke as the Lee siblings posed.

“Why are you faces like that?” Eunbi had a laugh because of the smears on their faces. “What were you doing?”

Hyewon gave Erii a pat on the shoulder and Erii went to get something. On the child’s hand was a neat stack of cookie sandwiches tied with a red ribbon, almost like the stack that the Lee siblings offered to the Almighty when they were children.

“We look like this because we prepared a gift for you, Eomma.” Hyewon spoke.

“Here, Halmeoni~” Erii grinned as she handed the stack.

Eunbi thanked her and felt a lot of happiness with just a simple gift.

“You’re the best mom and our favorite mom, Mama Eunbi~” The Lee sisters cheered.

Miho and Miu thought it was the most beautiful moment in their household. Eunbi was touched herself that she wanted to tear up. “Well, you have no choice because I’m your only maternal mother.”

“You had to spunk up the drama, Eomma~” Chaewon cooed and went to kiss Eunbi’s cheek.

The other sisters joined in and gave their hugs and kisses and their words of love to Eunbi, leaving her as an addition to the canvasses of chocolate and cream. Eunbi had the happiest time of her life despite being a mess. Hitomi stepped away from the little crowd and went to clean the mess on the table. Chaewon noticed first and stopped. Hyewon and Minjoo followed.

Hitomi continued to clean when Minjoo went to hug her. Chaewon and Hyewon got closer and handed her another stack of cookie sandwiches tied with a beautiful peach ribbon.

“Thank you, Hiichan…for always taking care of Mama Eunbi and for also taking care of us,” said Chaewon.

“Thank you also for being our mediator by making the peace for our sisterhood.” Hyewon added. “We love you, Hiichan.”

Hitomi smiled and accepted the gift. Eunbi reached to hug her daughter and said her thanks and the sisters joined in.

“Thank you too, Eomma…thank you too, unnies.” Hitomi added before she teared up.

It wasn’t natural for Hitomi to cry but it was one filled with gratitude and happiness. The family had a bit of tears and comforted her again through another dose of hugs.

“Ah…we look like idiotic crybabies…” Chaewon said as they all broke.

“Now, continue your MA application for New York, okay?” Hyewon added. “You’ll be staying with me. That way, you and Mama Eunbi won’t reach into arguments about applying again.”

“But what about Mama Eunbi?” Hitomi asked. “Who will take care of her?”

“Aigoo…what’s the use of my job as a maid?” Chaewon chuckled. “I’ll be the one to stay here so that I can take of Eomma. Besides…” She smirked at Hyewon. “…Kwangbae promised to give me a raise.”

“Really?”

“Yes.”

“Okay, I’ll double that raise.” Hyewon said and Chaewon fist-bumped.

“Mommy…who’s that stack of cookie sandwiches for?” Erii nudged Hyewon as she pointed to a stack that had candy sprinkles on top, tied with an orange ribbon.

“That’s for your Aunt Yuri.”

“That’s for Jjoyul.” Minjoo said again. “She gets sprinkles on top because she’s our sweet baby sister.”

Just then, a ring surrounded the kitchen. Hitomi grabbed her phone and answered a call. “Hello? Jjoyul?”

The family went silent. Hitomi had her reactions and it made the family worry.

“What? The wedding will not commence?”

Alas. It gave more reactions to the family.

“Why?”

+++

The place was sullen. Wreaths and dim lights surrounded the place as a sea of black and white sat in silence. A couple was at front as the Alpha sighed and touched the glass.

It was a glass from a coffin. Inside the coffin was a peaceful Justin.

“Love, I’m sorry for everything…” Yuri whispered.

“Everything that had happened has been done and it was never your fault.” Yena whispered back as she hugged her tighter. “I’m the apologetic one. I broke Justin’s promise.”

Yuri comforted her back and the couple went back to pay respect to the dead. Just then, the Lee family came dressed up in white. They got closer to the couple and Yuri greeted her family.

“Yena-ya…” Eunbi got closer to the taller woman and hugged. “I’m so sorry for your loss. My family and I give our condolences for you and your family, especially to Justin.”

“Thank you, Imo…” Yena added as she tried to bear her tears. “Thank you for coming…”

“Condolence, Yena…” Hyewon added as the rest of the family joined in.

“Thank you, unnies…” Yena bowed lightly.

The rest of the Yuehua family noticed them that they stood up to meet the Lee family. Sungyeon and Zhengting were up front as Eunbi got closer to them.

“Condolence, my friend…” Eunbi said as she shook Zhengting’s hand.

“Condolence, Mr. Jung…” The rest spoke out.

“Thank you so much to all of you…” Zhengting added as he got closer to Justin’s coffin. “It was better this way…because Justin didn’t have to go through suffering…”

Everyone couldn’t agree more. The two families were on the sides, with Yuri by Yena’s side. Eunbi and Sungyeon had a staring contest but they both realized to forgive one another because of the tension they have caused to their families. They whispered their apologies and chuckled, only to hug each other afterwards. The families were happy, especially Yena and Yuri.

“I hope that we can forget and leave the past behind…” Eunbi said.

“It’s alright, Eunbi. Past is past,” said Sungyeon.

“Mr.Evan…I’m sorry for all that had happened between our families...” Chaewon stepped in to apologize, especially of what happened at the spa. “I really take more of the blame for it. I’m sorry again.”

“It’s alright now, Chaewon-ah.” Sungyeon added as he hugged his family. “We were a little hurt for what you did, especially when you thought of us as bad people…but like I said, past is past…”

All of them nodded and made truce with one other, even the siblings of each family reconciled after all that had happened.

“But what really saddens me and my family…” Sungyeon went to the couple. “…is Yuri and Yena’s wedding…”

“Dad, it’s okay…” Yena assured him.

“We’re okay with it, Dad,” said Yuri.

“The preparations are gone to waste…” Sungyeon sighed. “…the receptions, the gowns…even if they were repugnant…”

The rest chuckled ever so lightly. But for Hyewon, she had something in her mind that she had to speak it out. “Actually…none of it will go to waste.”

“What are you talking about, Kwangbae-unnie?” Hitomi asked.

“Hiichan…there will be a wedding tomorrow.”

The families had wide eyes. If Yuri and Yena won’t wed, then who will?

”Won’t that be a misfortune?” Zhengting asked. “What about the sanctity of the traditions and superstitions?”

“Don’t worry, Mr. Jung…” Hyewon added. “It won’t affect the wedding.”

+++

It was another day and it was Chowon’s return from her work in Singapore. She managed to hitch a taxi back to the Lee residence when Wonyoung saw her as she boarded into Miu’s van. Wonyoung felt giddy and rushed despite wearing a sea snake themed dress. “Erii! Hurry up! Your Daddy’s here!”

Chowon wondered but she was excited to return home. As she carried her bags, she was greeted by Erii carrying her teddy bear and wearing what seems to be a clownfish themed dress.

“Daddy~” Erii tackled Chowon for a hug.

“Ah…my little princess…” Chowon chuckled and gave her kisses. “Were you a good girl?”

“I am, Daddy…now let’s go to the church!” Erii said, pulling Chowon outside.

“Church?”

Just then, Wonyoung returned with a good prince charming themed dress and helped Erii pull Chowon towards the van. “Buddy, let’s go! Everyone’s waiting for you!”

“Wait!” Chowon spoke as she pulled away. “Kwangbae told me that the wedding was cancelled.”

“Not anymore~” Wonyoung chanted. “Come on, let’s go!”

Chowon was confused with the whole situation but she followed Wonyoung and Erii nonetheless. They hopped on the van and Miu drives as quick as she could. The time was spent for Chowon to wear the dress and to prepare her hair and makeup. Once they arrived at the venue and got their van parked, the four of them rushed to the church and finished Chowon’s retouches. They got to meet the Lee siblings together with Miho and Yena’s female siblings, Sihyun and Yiren.

“Hey, guys…” Wonyoung greeted.

“Here she is~” Chaewon chanted.

The Lee siblings gathered towards them and helped fix Chowon up, even Chaewon helped Wonyoung with her headband.

“I’m a little confused…” Chowon mumbled.

“No talks. Just go with the flow, Chowon-ah,” said Hitomi.

Chaewon and Minjoo nodded with her, making Chowon confused again. Yena and Yuri greeted her and cheered her one as everyone lined up, with Chowon at the end.

“Hold on. I thought the wedding was cancelled because it’ll break the sanctity of tradition and superstition…right?” Chowon spoke again.

“It won’t affect the wedding, Chowon-ah.” Hitomi spoke, who was in front of her. “It’s what she said.”

Chowon wondered again when Eunbi came to view. But it was then that her world stopped as she saw Hyewon. She wore a dress that made her look like a princess. She even has a bouquet in hand. Those signs made Chowon draw a conclusion that could change her life forever.

Her eyes were still locked into Hyewon. Hyewon showed the ring on her finger and it made Chowon want to cry out of joy.

The wedding procession started on cue with the music. The Lee and Yuehua sisters were the entourages, with Minjoo, Sihyun, and Yiren walking first on solo. Yena, Yuri, Chaewon and Wonyoung walked in pairs and Hitomi was last on the line.

“Let’s go, Daddy.” Erii said as she held her hand.

Chowon could only nod and hold her hand back. They made the final walk on the aisle and with every step, Chowon felt the joy build up to her in ten folds. She would’ve thought that this moment wouldn’t happen because of a lot of situations but her patience was worth it to have Hyewon as her wife.

“Here, Mommy.” Erii lets go and lets Hyewon hold Chowon’s hand. “She’s all yours.”

Chowon felt happier when Erii finally acknowledged Hyewon as part of their family. Hyewon thanked her and faced Chowon with teary eyes and a smile. Erii was on the side with the sisters and was on Minjoo’s care.

“You’re right, Chowonie. The ring does look good on me…” Hyewon said. “…just like how good our fate to be together is.”

Chowon couldn’t hold her smile and tears for that one that Hyewon had to wipe her tears while being teary herself. The wedding vows began, and everyone adored them through whispers, especially Chaewon. “Aww…just like us in the future, love.”

It was Wonyoung’s turn to wonder. She looked back at Chaewon, asking. “Love…do you love me too?”

Chaewon pouted and nodded. Wonyoung felt happy that she inched to kiss her…

…only to get the same slap she would receive before.

“They’re the ones getting married, not us…” Chaewon added as eased Wonyoung’s cheek. “Wait for next year, okay?”

“No, that’s not happening.” Yuri added as Yena shook her head. “We’re the ones marrying next year.”

“How about us?” Minjoo whispered while pointing to Hitomi. “When will we even find our special someone?”

“I would ask the same for Sihyun and Yiren,” said Yena, getting reactions from the two.

The vows were spoken and Hyewon and Chowon were in love and committed to be each other’s halves. Before it can conclude, Hyewon held Chowon’s hand, saying. “I’m so sorry, love…I’m sorry I made you wait…”

“You were worth the wait.” Chowon added as she cupped Hyewon’s face. “I love you so much…”

“I love you too…so, so much…” Hyewon sniffled as she held Chowon’s hand on her face before they shared a wonderful kiss.

“Yes! They finally kissed! You may now marry the bride~” Wonyoung cheered as the rest joined in.

Hyewon and Chowon broke from their first kiss and did another one, concluding the wedding proper. The family congratulated the newlyweds and had their own celebration in the church. Even if they had no guests, they cherished the day because of the wedding and the presence of family.

“Picture taking time~” Miu cheered as she sets the camera.

Pictures came in went. From Hyewon and Chowon’s kiss to a various set of family pictures, all of them were saved for memories.

“Last picture for all of us in the family~”

All members got into formation as Miu adjusted the camera. Miu sets the timer and ran to the side. “Okay! Say cheese!”

+++

Time passed like it was a snap from the Almighty’s hand. As offered by the specks of destiny and time, good prayers turned to reality. There came changes and growth of everyone in the family and successes that each family member had. The four siblings who made the large cookie sandwich grew to become women who faced the adversaries and made their sisterhood stronger. What made it better was that the family grew larger and that their maternal mother was still there, the servants stayed loyal for their service to the family, and the addition of women, who grew up to have been partners to the sisters in the family.

At the time, the house still stood. There were more frames for memories but for this day, there were more people for company. It was evening and in the house was the maternal mother, the second and last siblings, and their servants. A scream and a broken glass filled the place.

“That’s the fourth glass you broke, Ssamu…”

“Sorry, Eomma.” Chaewon made a peace sign as Miu helped her clean up. “I was calling Wonie to get home that I lost focus on my task…”

“Tell Wonie to get here quick,” said Eunbi.

Two women came in the house after a long day at an awarding ceremony. One of them wore a white gown as another helped her remove her jewelry.

“Minguri, AhnYu…” Eunbi went to greet them. “How was the awarding ceremony?”

“I won the award for Best Director and Best Actress again~” Minjoo cheered as she showed three trophies. "AhnYu won for Best Supporting Actress.”

Chaewon got their attention and went to greet her sister and sister-in-law.

It turned out that Minjoo had her wish of having a good career and a partner come to life in the form of her own studio and Ahn Yujin, a former athlete now actress working at Minjoo’s company. They shared acting in films and ended up having a relationship and married a year after Yena and Yuri got married.

“Halmeoni~ Imonies~”

“Erii~” The sisters welcomed the baby girl in the family.

Erii, now thirteen, has grown into a fine child and a family-oriented one at that. She loved spending time with her parents and her aunties, especially with Minjoo and –

“Hiichan~” Chaewon and Minjoo tackled her for a hug.

Hitomi shared the same delight towards her unnies. As promised before, she applied for her MA and succeeded. She became a teacher of Economics in New York and just like Minjoo, she had a partner of how own to which she recently married to.

“Kinako, what’s up?” Minjoo hi-fived.

“Yabuki Nako, when will you ever grow?” Yujin cackled.

Yabuki Nako sighed. She may have been a small CEO of a business tycoon in Singapore and Japan but had been the perfect partner for Hitomi. At first, Hitomi thought she wasn’t right for Nako because of her status. But thank the Heavens because Nako’s family welcomed Hitomi and her family with open arms.

“What about me?”

“Kwangbae~” The rest of the sisters hugged her.

Hyewon maintained her career as a food franchise manager just as much as Chowon was still a senior manager for product design. They collaborated with their skills and started their family business in Korea, to which Chaewon and Yuri became the managers.

Speaking of Yuri –

“Good evening~” She arrived last together with Yena.

The Lee sisters greeted their baby sister through a messy hug. Yuri chuckled and greeted their sisters-in-law. Yena also invited Sihyun and Yiren with their partners, Juri and Aisha. The Lee family welcomed them with open arms and Eunbi decided to help Miu and Miho prepare their dinner, leaving the couples to relax in the living room. Erii wanted to join with her grandmothers and aunt that Hyewon and Chowon agreed.

They talked about many things, from the best ones to the worst ones. For whatever worth their talk was, the most important thing was that the worst memories served as their lessons to put the best memories to heart.

From a distance, Eunbi adored the sight. It was just as she envisioned and what the late Chaeyeon would want to envision too.

“What did I tell you?” Miho smiled as she patted Eunbi’s back. “Whatever happens, they’ll never be apart because they’re intertwined with love.”

Eunbi couldn’t agree more…

Love. Love intertwines those who are apart…
