Walking into their favourite cafe as requested, he spotted her by the window. Coming in with excitement he tried to hug and kiss her like usual but to only be rejected again.

"Have a seat."

Obeying her command, he waited for her to speak about her day but was only silent. Looking at her, he had noticed that her behaviour has been extremely odd lately. The constant fidgeting, space between them was greater, and the loss of eye contact. Grabbing her hand he was the first to break the ice.

"Is there something on your chest you want to get off?"

Quickly retrieving her hand back, she stared straight into his eye with the look he feared the most.

"I'm breaking up with you."

With that he was shattered, searching for the right words and emotions to portray. He sat completely perplexed before settling with an answer, then spoke.

"Okay then, I'll return your stuff by next week."

And with that she left him alone, crushed in spirit and soul.
