Her Scent

The World is Ugly (But You're Beautiful To Me)

“Goddammit,” Jung Eunbi cursed under her breath, hands catching her toes as she rubbed the skin to soothe the pain. Flashbacks of the week before flooded her mind and she couldn’t help dreading this to be a sign. I can’t have another of those days, she whined and slowly stood up, supporting herself on her bed, especially not today.

Sunday morning, the Sun shining bright on the sky. It looked like a beautiful day, the type of day Eunbi would be thriving to have. But this special Sunday was the day she would meet Sojung at the library to start doing their assignment. The omega already woke up anxious, falling off her bed at seven in the morning. Checking her phone for the tenth time, she was sure they would meet up in four hours and she had time to get ready, so there was no need to be that nervous, of course.

But the Universe didn’t want to make things easy for her. First, she couldn’t find any clothes to wear. Logically, her wardrobe had enough of them, but nothing, absolutely nothing, pleased her. She tried jeans and t-shirts, dresses and skirts, and still, nothing looked good.

Her frustrated grunts must have echoed through the house as, after almost an hour suffering, her brother knocked on the door.

Daein was a nice guy, but he loved to death teasing her. It was like she was born for the sole purpose of listening to his snickers and remarks about height and how much she ate. And Eunbi could see in his eyes when the door was opened that his head was already making up the most annoying things to say.

The omega’s lips pursed immediately in a pout and she hissed, “not in the mood for this, oppa.”

“In the mood for what—oh my God, what happened to your room?” The beta asked looking at all the clothes scattered around the floor. Eunbi let out a pitiful whine and stomped her away to the bed, plopping herself on the mattress. Daein’s eyebrows slowly raised up. “Uh… is everything okay?”

“No,” Eunbi sighed, “I mean, yes? It’s just that… I don’t have anything to wear!”

The boy looked at the floor and Eunbi knew this must’ve sounded ridiculous. She wasn’t one to be that concerned about her clothes, using simple dresses and jeans whenever she went out. To be whining about that when numerous pieces of clothing were all of her floor was really odd.

“O-kay,” Daein hesitated, realizing that something was off. “I think you have plenty to wear though… look at all of these…”

“I have clothes, oppa, but I can’t wear them,” she mumbled as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

“And why not…?”

“They don’t look good!”

“Alright, this is getting really weird,” Daein walked towards her, mindful of a pile of skirts on the way. The boy slowly sat beside her, “what’s wrong, Eunbi?”

“Nothing’s wrong. I just… wanted something pretty to wear.” Eunbi casted her eyes down, looking at her hands.

The siblings were silent for a couple of seconds before her brother let out an understanding hum. “You’re going out with someone today?”

Eunbi pathetically stuttered, “i-it’s nothing like that! We’re just—we’re just going to do an assignment. At the library,” she added.

The omega could feel her brother’s eyes on her and she hoped to death he wouldn’t ask about the person she’d do the assignment with. Eunbi wasn’t sure if she could lie to her brother about Sojung and she knew that wouldn’t be fair to the alpha herself. Daein didn’t ask about anything like though, much to her surprise.

“So, at what time are you meeting your classmate?”

“Eleven and something…”

“Oh, so you two are going to have lunch together?”

“I think so,” Eunbi answered. She hadn’t thought about that actually and the image of having lunch with Sojung made her stomach turn in anxiety. Logically, she knew that wasn’t something to be afraid of—they’d had lunch together already—but for some reason, she couldn’t help but to anticipate it. “Yeah, probably.”

“Alright,” Daein slowly stood up. He contemplatively looked at the floor. “The weather report said it’d be sunny all day long, so, maybe a dress? Or maybe those high-waisted shorts you have?”

Eunbi looked at her brother. “The… the white ones?”

He nodded.

The omega looked at the floor, scanning for the piece of clothing. Spotting it underneath some t-shirts, she walked towards it. Those shorts were really pretty. She had only used it once or twice, though, Eunbi liked it enough to reserve it to special occasions. “Um, yeah, maybe.”

“And what about this shirt?”

She turned her head towards him to find the beta holding a white and blue striped shirt. It had short sleeves and the cloth was light—which made it perfect for such a sunny day.

“It could go well with those, uh, what’s the name of that, blue flats?”

Her eyes widened. It could really be nice. “Yeah, that’s… actually a nice suggestion.”

Daein smiled and handed her the shirt. “Go look for them, I’ll pick these up,” he bent over, catching the scattered clothes and putting them on her bed.

Eunbi stared at him in silence for a while. She thought of asking him why he was doing this, but she knew the answer. A small smile played on her lips as she watched her brother pick the clothes up. You can really be nice to me when you want, huh, the omega thought, giving herself a few seconds to silently thank her brother for being here for her, and turned around to get her shoes.

However, even with her brother’s help and appreciating her outfit, she stared at the mirror for about ten minutes before slumping her shoulders. What should she do with her hair? Sure, it was short and it’s not like she had many ideas of hairstyles, but she wanted to do something different. Her stomach was already furiously growling, and she needed to get some food, but the fact was, Eunbi needed to catch the bus at least forty minutes before eleven and things were not going well.

Ugh, whatever, she pouted, just brushing her hair and placing the hairbrush loudly on the bathroom’s counter. She angrily went back to her room, wanting to get her backpack ready. As soon as she stepped into her bedroom, her foot caught on the edge of her dresser and she went straight to the floor.

Sitting on her bed and still rubbing her toes, she sniffled. You’re okay, Eunbi, today will be nice and nothing will go wrong, just be calm, breathe in and breath out—

Her whole body jolted at the loud message alert her phone let out. She grunted under her breath and grabbed the mobile, decided to change that damn sound. Her eyes fell on the notification, though, and her mind blanked out for a second. The omega swallowed, clicked on it and read the new message from Sojung.

Kim Sojung

Eunbi-yah? Good morning.

The omega snorted. She really uses punctuation.

Jung Eunbi

morning, eonni

everything okay for us to meet up?

Kim Sojung

Yes, definitely.

I just wanted to ask something.

Jung Eunbi

yes?

uh, eonni?

Kim Sojung

Sorry, I just wanted to ask what do you want to lunch?

It’s just that I’ve told my mom I’d meet you and

And she wanted to make us some food.

That just in case you don’t want to lunch at a restaurant.

Which is totally fine by me?

Being taken aback for a few seconds, Eunbi’s heart skipped a beat. A picnic with Kim Sojung would be nice, wouldn’t it…

Kim Sojung

Sorry, that was weird, wasn’t it?

Just forget about it.

Jung Eunbi

no! I really like the idea

there’s a nice open area near the library

with stone tables and benches and stuff

college kids use it a lot

it’s nice to eat there I think

we could have lunch there

Kim Sojung

Seriously?

I mean, sure.

Do you have any special wishes?

Special wishes, Eunbi mused and typed a ‘no’. The alpha once more confirmed the time they’d meet and Eunbi locked her screen, lying down on the bed. She closed her eyes for a moment. Today will be a nice day, Jung Eunbi, it will be.

“Here!”

Eunbi whipped her head to her right, immediately seeing Sojung. She didn’t need to be called, catching on the other’s scent as soon as she stepped out of the bus, but the way the alpha voiced her name plastered a grin on her face, nonetheless. She made her way towards Sojung, unconsciously clenching her fingers around her backpack’s straps.

“Wow, you… you look pretty,” Sojung said, making her slightly blush.

The omega looked at Sojung and she could say that the other was really breathtaking. Wearing a blue shirt, the first three buttons opened, revealing a silver necklace that beautifully contrasted against her skin, she looked almost angelic. Her long, blonde hair swiftly moved as Sojung tilted her head to the side, offering her a smile. One of her hands carried her school bag and a paper bag, while the other hid itself inside her light jeans’ pocket. Eunbi couldn’t help but to notice the color pallet of their clothes oddly matched.

“You too, eonni,” she said with a small smile. “Let’s go inside then?”

“Sure,” the alpha stepped aside, silently prompting Eunbi to walk in front of her. “Our topic is about the last princess. I think it’ll be easy to find good materials to write about it. I brought my laptop to help too.”

“Yes… have you, um, have you seen the movie there is about her?” Eunbi shyly asked, trying to make a conversation.

“I did, actually,” she turned her head to look at the alpha as they entered the library. “It’s a really nice movie. I like their acting a lot and the context is really interesting.”

It was noticeable how everyone inside the establishment turned their head towards them—and Eunbi knew it was not because they were speaking.

Sojung’s smile became strained when they passed by the receptionists who gave her a baffled look. Suddenly, Eunbi was overtaken by the urge of telling those people off, but she couldn’t even take a step forward as the alpha’s fingers gently wrapped themselves around her wrist.

Eunbi looked at her and felt her heart clench at the discreet shake of Sojung’s head. The alpha squeezed her wrist before letting go and walked forward. Eunbi wanted to go at the reception table and ask what they were looking at, she really did, but it was clear to her that Sojung didn’t want that. Therefore, she resigned, following Sojung further into the library.

The alpha walked towards the farthest table there, setting her bags on top of it. She pulled a chair and looked at Eunbi who couldn’t help to stutter at the action, wait, is she really doing this. Sojung smiled at her and jerked her head towards the chair. Eunbi slowly sat down, hoping her cheeks weren’t burning as much as she was feeling it. The alpha sat across her, looking unfazed by it. How can she do these things and not look embarrassed, Eunbi discreetly pouted, taking her notebooks out of her backpack.

“So,” Sojung whispered, “let’s begin.”

And they really did.

For almost two hours, the two of them focused on their task, researching and noting the main points down. They had to write a detailed report on Princess Deokhye’s life, minding the historical context and some inaccuracies that were carried out during the years. Eunbi wasn’t that much of a history fan, but maybe because this subject was quite interesting or maybe because Kim Sojung was right in front of her, she wasn’t bored at all.

It was almost astonishing the way Sojung’s fingers flew over the laptop’s keyboard, quickly writing. The omega felt her cheeks warm up as she attentively observed the other’s concentrated expression, hairlocks tucked behind her ears and occasionally falling over her shoulders. Kim Sojung was stunning and Eunbi didn’t know how to not be amazed by her.

“We did quite a progress, don’t you think?” Sojung asked her, stretching her arms. Eunbi nodded with a small smile. “It’s almost one pm. Do you want to go eat now?”

“Yep,” at the mention of food, Eunbi quickly perked up, and the omega didn’t know how to react at the fond chuckle Sojung let out. “Let’s—let’s eat, eonni.”

The alpha collected their material and soon they were out of the library, heading towards the tables surrounded by trees and flowers near the library. There were a couple of students there, but since the tables were far from each other, they didn’t pay much attention to the girls. Eunbi helped Sojung take the lunch boxes out of the paper bag and she gaped at how much food the alpha had brought.

Sojung gave her a guilty smile. “My mom got a little excited. I’m sorry.”

“No need to! I, I’m really impressed,” she giggled. “Thanks for the food,” Eunbi sang, getting the chopsticks Sojung offered her.

She couldn’t really know, as she was extremely engrossed on the task of eating all of that incredibly tasty food, but Sojung’s eyes were glued to her, watching with such care that could’ve been slightly overwhelming to the omega had she noticed.

They ate in a comfortable silent, one or the other sometimes commenting on something trivial about the people around them. It was nice, Eunbi thought, the food, the weather, the company… everything was really nice. She stole some glances at the alpha, occasionally meeting her eyes and earning a smile. This is indeed nice.

After they had finished it and put the boxes inside the bag, Eunbi let herself rest her cheek on the table, letting out satisfied sigh.

Sojung chuckled. “Did you like the food?”

“Loved it,” Eunbi answered in almost a whisper. “Your mom’s a great cook.”

“She’d be pleased to know that.”

“Don’t forget to thank her for me, alright—”

Eunbi’s voice died in , feeling a hand gently rest on her head.

It was hesitant, but firm at the same time. Eunbi silently wondered if she should’ve flinched or backed away from it, but her body did neither. The omega just relaxed her muscles, closing her eyes and accepting the soft touch.

Sojung must’ve grown confidant as she started to card her fingers through Eunbi’s hair and the omega was glad she didn’t style her hair—this was way better than having it tied up. The younger girl couldn’t help but to let out a low sigh, content slowly taking over her body and something different running through her veins. She was definitely not used to touch or being touched even if some of her friends were fans of hugs. Eunbi usually just kept it to herself and, looking back at it, maybe she should’ve felt weird or something of the sort. She didn’t though; she just enjoyed it.

“What the —is that an alpha?

Sojung’s fingers halted on her hair and Eunbi opened her eyes. She could see a couple of teenagers look at them as if they were seeing an aberration. The omega sensed the change in Sojung’s scent and the alpha was about to pull away when Eunbi’s body moved on its own. Her small hand held Sojung’s wrist; the alpha tensed under her touch and immediately, Eunbi willed her own scent to get stronger—strong enough to envelop the other and make her relax. The omega raised her upper body, searching for Sojung’s eyes.

She looked tense, almost uncomfortable, but inhaling the omega’s scent was clearly having some effects as her eyes showed nothing if not calm.

“Eonni,” Eunbi’s voice was no more than a whisper, “you okay?”

“Yeah—yeah, Eunbi, I’m fine, I just…” her eyelids closed for a second, “I’m okay, don’t worry about me.”

Kind of hard to not do so, Eunbi thought, scanning the alpha’s face. “Maybe we should go back to the library and continue the assignment, hm? I’m sure we can finish the draft today.”

Sojung nodded. Eunbi wanted to reach forward and grab her hand when they made their way to the library, but the omega hesitated. Her mind started wondering if she should’ve just stayed quiet, if her actions had made Sojung uncomfortable and didn’t help, if she was being noisy and imagining things. If, if, if. But, before she could drown herself in the doubts swirling in her head, a light touch brushed against her wrist.

She looked at the alpha through her lashes, heart filling up with a warm, cozy feeling. Sojung smiled at her and Eunbi knew what she meant. Now, Eunbi understood something her brother had said once to her—words are not always needed. Sojung’s touch was gone a second later, but Eunbi could feel her by her side and that was more than enough.

They went back to work and after a couple of hours most of it was done. Eunbi felt satisfied; never had she gotten so much work done in a day, often prone to procrastinating and talking about random things with Ddin whenever they had something to do. It was a good feeling.

“Well, I think the only thing that’s left is to grammar check the report,” Sojung stated, “the PowerPoint presentation is finished, want to take a look at it?”

“Sure,” Eunbi scooted her chair closer to Sojung, leaning sideways.

Her eyes fell on the laptop’s screen, but her mind could only focus on the fact that she was really close to the alpha—way too close. Sojung softly called her and Eunbi looked up, against her better judgement, meeting the girl’s eyes and realizing their faces were, unsurprisingly, just a few centimeters apart.

“Yes, eonni?” she asked, all but whispering.

Sojung stared into her eyes. “Thank you for doing this with me.”

A smile, a bright smile, took over Eunbi’s expression and maybe that was adoration she saw in the alpha’s eyes, but Eunbi didn’t try to interpret it. The omega ducked her head softly, in a quick bow, as she said, “I’m the one who should be thanking you.”

She raised her eyes and looked at the girl in front of her—and for a moment, they stood silently, looking at each other, trying to convey feelings that they couldn’t fully understand yet. Eunbi suddenly wondered what it would feel like to look into those sharp yet gentle eyes for longer, what it would feel like to reach out and let her fingers brush Sojung’s skin, what it would feel like to lean just a lit bit, just—

“Let’s wrap this up and go home,” Sojung muttered, “it’s late.”

Trying to hide the blush from her thoughts, the omega rubbed a hand against her eye, pretending something had fallen on it. She knew, though, that her cheeks were pink, and nothing would change that fact. She stood up and slowly getting her things, Eunbi thought that it was a shame they had to leave already, but the alpha was right. Her parents were probably wondering where she was too.

She had warned them she’d be out for the day but had forgotten to specify to where and how much time she’d spent outside. I hope they aren’t worried, she quietly hummed, putting her last notebook inside the backpack. Sojung was ready as well and they headed out.

As they left the library, Eunbi was surprised to see the dark sky above them. “How much time did we spent doing this?” she gasped and Sojung chuckled.

“It seems that time may have passed quicker than we realized,” the alpha smiled.

“Hm…” Eunbi looked at her phone to see it mark 6 pm. “Yeah, you’re right. Though, thinking about how much we got done, it makes sense that it’s this late.”

The alpha thoughtfully nodded. “Are you going to get the bus?” she asked, steps awfully slow as they walked towards the bus stop.

“Yes,” Eunbi put the mobile inside her backpack and smiled at Sojung. “And you, eonni?”

“I’ll walk home,” the alpha gave her a small smile. She looked up at the bus stop’s sign and both girls came to a halt. “Want me to wait with you for your bus?” Sojung gently offered and poorly held back a smile when Eunbi’s eyes widened.

“Oh, no need! The bus will be here in a couple of minutes, so don’t worry,” she blurted out and Sojung gave her a curt nod.

“Alright. But text me when you get home, okay?”

Ignoring the warmth that didn’t seem like it wanted to leave her cheeks, Eunbi whispered, “okay.”

The omega shyly waved and watched as Sojung walked away. She let out a short sigh when the alpha was out of her sigh, this day was really good. Lost in her thoughts, Eunbi sat on the bus stop’s bench without realizing she was alone there. Sojung is really good at researching—it’s impressive how fast she found out and processed all that information about Deokhye. I wish I could’ve done more, though. Maybe… maybe next time I can prepare the food. I should probably cook something for her and her mother. It was really nice of her to make all of that for us… Though, will it be a second time? We only have to check the grammar and that’s it… Or maybe she’s willingly to so another assignment with me? Oh my God, no, stop, Jung Eunbi. What the hell are you—

“Oh, my. What do we have here?”

Nostrils flaring with the suffocating alpha smell, Eunbi whipped her head in the voice’s direction. At the sight of three bulky alphas reeking of alcohol and pheromones, Eunbi’s first instinct was to run, but before she could even stand up, one of them was already with a heavy hand on her shoulder.

“How are you doing?” The man asked and Eunbi winced at both the strong smell of beer and the proximity.

“Um, let—let go,” she squirmed under his grip, but it was to no avail. The other two moved, putting themselves in front of her and blocking her view of the street. A red alarm rang in her head and she knew that if she couldn’t get out of there, something bad would happen. Eunbi bit her lower lip and shaked her shoulder as she forcefully tried to stand up, but the girl wasn’t strong enough. I should’ve taken those self-defense classes with Ddin.

“Aw, come on. Let’s get a drink with us,” his smile was sickening. “We’re very nice guys. I’m sure such a cute omega would have fun—”

“No, I wouldn’t,” she hissed, struggling to get out of his hold. The other two took a step forward, closing in, and Eunbi couldn’t help the way her scent glands were oozing with desperation. She tried to not flinch at the wet chuckles they let out. “Let me go—"

“Come on,” Eunbi inhaled sharply as the one on her right leaned forward.  His face stopped centimeters of hers and the omega grimaced at the strong smell of beer and domineering pheromones he so disgustingly exhaled.

Disgusting, disgusting, disgusting, her mind screamed and screamed and Eunbi groaned with the tightening grip on her shoulder.

“Be a nice girl and come with us—”

The one sitting beside her had his sentence brutally interrupted as he was ripped off Eunbi’s side. The other two jolted and bared the teeth at whoever had thrown the man aside.

“She said she doesn’t want to go with you, you dirty pigs.”

Sojung , Eunbi’s mind cried; the omega looked at the voice’s direction and saw the girl a couple of meters away, the back of the alpha’s jacket. Sojung threw him on the ground and a disgruntled sound escaped his lips as he hit the sidewalk. Eunbi’s eyes widened and there were a thousand different things running in her mind.

Why was Sojung here, did she hear her, that was impossible though, Sojung was far away when they had approached her, but still, how come she appeared out of nowhere—everything, though, everything seemed unimportant as the omega’s nose caught on the strong, acid scent mixed to Sojung’s usual citric one. It made Eunbi feel scared, intimidated, fearful for not only her but everyone. The girl’s eyes also carried a dark gleam that even under the faint streetlights, provoked a dreadful feeling.

The man scurried to his feet. “What the hell—are you an alpha?” He spat, taking a step back. His friends domineering pheromones, as well as his, faltered. The group of men looked at Sojung with horror plastered on their faces and, for a moment, Eunbi thought they would run. That wasn’t the case, however, as they swallowed dryly and poorly stuffed their chests. “I can’t ing believe it—you’re a female alpha.”

“Yes, I am,” Sojung rolled her eyes. She took a step forward, in the direction of the two who hadn’t backed away from Eunbi. The omega could smell the harsh change in their smells and she knew that regardless of being drunk, they understood what Sojung’s presence meant. “Now, I suggest you pigs off right now, or I’ll do it myself.”

Eunbi shrank on her seat. Even though she was rationally aware that Sojung’s anger wasn’t directed towards her, her body instinctively wanted to curl up in submission… and there was something else on the other girl’s voice—something stronger, dangerous, deadly—that made her shiver along with the men. Eunbi closed her eyes and took a deep breath, telling herself that she was safe; Sojung wouldn’t hurt her. She was safe—Sojung was here, so she was safe. No need to be frightened, no need to be scared.

“I can’t believe it,” one of them growled, “you anomalies are really real?”

Sojung’s jaw clenched. “ off,” she repeated slowly, “that is, if you want to keep your disgusting faces intact. Though I wouldn’t have anything against disfiguring all of them.”

“Eo-eonni,” Eunbi’s small voice attracted Sojung’s attention. That’s enough, Eunbi thought, I need to stop this before she goes too far. Although her mind and heart were racing like horses, she couldn’t handle the thought of Sojung being on the cover of a tabloid, because, it didn’t matter what were her intentions—people could only see rank when it came to cases like this. “Puh-please,” she stuttered.

Sojung gave her a reassuring smile and it was like she was someone different when she spoke again, “don’t worry, princess, I’m here, okay?”

Eunbi nodded shakingly, but kept her eyes locked on Sojung’s. For sure, her eyes were just as cold as before, but Eunbi could see that the alpha was still rational. She wouldn’t do anything too harsh, Sojung wouldn’t hurt anyone. At least that was what Eunbi kept saying to herself.

“Are you two together?” The man spit on the ground, a shaky disgust all over his voice. It was pathetically obvious how he was trying to sound strong even though he was ting his pants. Sojung didn’t seem to care about it at all, highly aware of how strong she was and how much power she held. The girl shortened the distance between her and Eunbi, causing the two men to immediately step back. “What the —”

More swearing could be heard, but Sojung just approached Eunbi. Slowly and making eye contact with the omega, she crouched in front of her. Sojung was quiet and her scent took a hundred and eighty degrees turn, acquiring such a soothing effect that Eunbi couldn’t help but relaxing all her muscles as she inhaled it. Sojung lips curled up in a gentle smile and it was like the stress piling up on Eunbi had been washed away by a waterfall. The alpha raised a hand and hovered it over Eunbi’s, her eyes silently asking for permission.

“Are you two ing together—"

“Can you shut up?” the man’s voice died as Sojung sternly stated, voice not quite reflecting the gentleness of her touch on Eunbi’s hand. She carefully intertwined they fingers, slowly stood up and pulled the omega on her feet and, God, and Eunbi couldn’t hold back.

She launched forward and buried herself on Sojung’s chest. Had it been another situation, Eunbi would be worried about the recklessness of her actions, but Sojung’s scent was all over the place, replacing the fear for the feeling of protection. She was really safe, and it wasn’t just her mind trying to not make her run. Sojung was here and she was safe. Eunbi was so lost in that warmth and smell, that she barely noticed the alpha’s arms circling her body and tightly hugging. She did notice, however, the way Sojung nuzzled her nose on her hair, spreading more and more of her own scent over the omega.

Sojung moved her head away from Eunbi’s head and quietly asked, mouth near her ear, “you okay, princess?”

Eunbi hummed an agreement and reveled on Sojung’s hand crawling up her neck and burying its fingers on her neck.

“Let’s go, this i-isn’t worth our time,” one of the men stuttered and, although soon enough none of their scents were noticeable, Eunbi couldn’t let go, hands clenching in tiny fists around Sojung’s shirt.

The omega doesn’t know for how long they were like that, but it wasn’t important. The only thing in her mind was Sojung’s scent, Sojung’s warmth, Sojung, Sojung, Sojung.

“Eunbi-yah, calm down, you’re shaking,” the alpha whispered in her ear, but Eunbi only tightened her hands. She hadn’t even realized it, but Sojung was right—from her shoulders down to her knees, her muscles were spasming. Eunbi knew she needed a little more to stop it.

She raised her head a little, moving from Sojung’s shoulder to her neck, and, maybe—maybe, if Eunbi wasn’t so dizzy and shaken—she would’ve noticed what she was doing and the implications of it, but that was not the case. And perhaps she would’ve noticed how easily Sojung bared her neck and leaned forward, making it easier for Eunbi to press her nose against her scent glands and breathe it like she needed it to live.

Sojung allowed her to stay like that for minutes, caressing her head and murmuring reassuring words to her ear, until Eunbi’s breath was finally steady and the omega slowly pulled away. The shorter girl didn’t go far, though, being held firmly by Sojung’s arms. Eunbi looked at her and let out a long sigh, feeling like she’d melt at any moment under the alpha’s gaze.

“How are you feeling, Eunbi?” Sojung softly asked, bringing one hand to cup Eunbi’s right cheek. The omega leaned on the touch, closing her eyes, and Sojung chuckled at the gesture. “Still not a hundred percent?”

“Dunno,” she mumbled against Sojung’s palm. Maybe Eunbi was all better, but it wasn’t like she had any wish for this to stop soon. “Not really.”

“Want eonni to get you home?”

Eunbi opened her eyes and through her lashes looked at Sojung. Having the alpha not leave her side was a top priority at the moment, so, yeah, she wanted that. Eunbi nodded and tried to lean again on Sojung’s shoulder.

“Okay,” but the alpha had other plans as she slightly increased the distance between them, grabbing Eunbi’s hand instead of keeping the omega flushed against her. Sojung couldn’t help the snicker when Eunbi let out a very discontent sound at the new position. “Sorry, sweetheart, but I need to see the bus. You said you take Line 9, right?” the omega hummed, trying to get closer to the alpha. “Okay. Don’t worry, now, princess. I’m right here,” and Sojung seemed to give in, allowing Eunbi to hug her again. The alpha rested her chin on top of her head and Eunbi nuzzled her nose on Sojung’s shoulder.

I know you are, eonni.

Chapter 5: One of the best Wonha stories that I've read.

It's different from the many stories of the ABO universe, a good different - great even. I love how their attraction isn't primarily based on hormonal instincts, it is there, but it's not the focus, just a background supporting their growing attraction to one another.

I love how Eunha stands up for her opinion, to her class and family, despite her confusion on her feelings towards Sojung. Certainly love how Sojung takes care of Eunha, and slowly allow Eunha into her life.
