COMPANY DINNER

Heads turned as Hanbin barged into the restaurant looking half awake.

His entrance caught unusual attention, coming in what looked like practice clothes while everybody else was dressed up.

His manager appeared from behind him, pushing him towards the long table at the end of the room.

A man in a black cap was seated at the end of that long table.

He looked up, “There you are,”

Hanbin bowed, “Sorry for arriving late, Sajangnim,” he explained, “I lost track of time.”

Sajangnim pointed to the free seat in front of him, “Sit,”

Hanbin quietly obeyed.

There was a girl next to him. She was talking to Sajangnim when he arrived.

As he turned to look at her, she also looked at him. And both their expressions instantly turned to disgust.

It was Jennie. Her presence smacked the sleepy Hanbin wide awake. 

Hanbin cleared his throat as he looked away.

Jennie casually moved her chair farther from him.

“You’re probably wondering why I called you both here without your members,” Sajangnim said, “We’re all busy people so I’ll cut to the chase,” he continued, “I’m thinking it’s time we have another YG Family Concert.”

Hanbin’s and Jennie’s faces lit up.

“Really?” Hanbin asked.

“Yes. And I’m thinking of putting you both in charge.”

Both their smiles faded.

“B-both of us?” Jennie looked from Sajangnim to Hanbin, “As in together??”

Hanbin suddenly choked on his water and started coughing.

“Is there a problem?” Sajangnim crossed his arms. He looked at the two of them, trying to hold back a laugh, “Don’t tell me you still can’t get along?”

Hanbin wiped the water dripping down from his mouth.

Jennie was about to answer when Hanbin nudged her, “No, Sajangnim. W-we are okay. We can do it.”

“Wha-?” Jennie squealed, “Ow!!” 

Hanbin stepped on her foot and glared at her to stop talking.

“Hmmmm,” Sajangnim leaned back on his seat, “So that’s settled, then?”

They both nodded.

Sajangnim laughed, “You don’t have a choice anyway.” 

Just then, waiters arrived with platters of food.

Hanbin’s eyes widened at the steaming pile of chicken nuggets placed before him.

“Help yourselves,” Sajangnim pushed the plates towards them.

Hanbin picked up his chopsticks and reached for the biggest piece.

But Jennie was reaching for the same.

She swat his chopsticks out of the way but he was quick to reach for the biggest piece with his free hand.

He immediately stuffed it in his mouth.
