A/N: Hey, so this is another Irene and Joohyun being separate people fic. Here they’re two best friends who are super close and have shared almost everything with one another. Irene has quite the suggestion for her best friend Joohyun one day, and that is entering a poly relationship with her and her girlfriend Seulgi, making Seulgi their shared girlfriend. This is going to hopefully be interesting and to show that there is indeed a such thing as healthy poly relationships and not annoying af love triangles, but in all honesty the only love triangle I would actually care about is Irene/Seul/Joohyun lmao, if only. Well, here goes a little teaser everyone.

Bae Joohyun is running late to meet her best friend Irene at their favorite cafe. It’s been about three weeks since she’s seen her and can’t wait to catch up over tea and pastries of some kind. Joohyun has been best friends with Irene since they were small kids, and marveled over the fact that they looked a hell of a lot a like. They looked so much alike that people confused them for twins which gave them some fun in tricking people from time to time. The young woman runs inside to see her “twin” sitting there at their usual table and drinking tea. The good thing about now is that Irene has chosen to dye her hair a lighter brown color to her dark raven lockt. It helps only somewhat, because at the end of they day they really do look just alike.

“Rene!” Joohyun waves and walks over to the table.

“Hey, Hyun!” Irene smiles and hugs her bespectacled friend. There is a very specific reason why Irene has asked Joohyun to meet her, and they will get to that soon. For now it’s going to be nice to catch up over drinks and desserts. Irene has been best friends with Joohyun for a long time since they were kids. She has an interesting offer that she thinks might be intriguing for her best friend.

“Well, you’re here now, Hyun. Why don’t you order something?”

“Yeah, I’m just going to get my usual. But those brownies look really good.”

“Ah, they do. I’m going to order some to go for Seul. She loves the brownies here.”

“How’s Seul?” Joohyun asks. Kang Seulgi is Irene’s longtime girlfriend since their HS days. They have been together a very long time and live together too. Now, at first before Irene started dating Seulgi. Joohyun too had feelings for the pretty monolid girl but she would never betray her best friend. Once she saw for sure that Seulgi and Irene were developing a thing she backed out gracefully. It didn’t mean she didn’t still have those feelings for Seulgi. Joohyun is just really glad that Irene can’t tell, or perhaps maybe Irene can tell. It’s after they order that Irene decides to throw her suggestion out there.

“Hey, Hyun. We’ve been friends for a long time, right?”

“Yes,” The dark-haired woman nods and sips her drink. “Why, what’s going on?”

Irene stirs her tea casually for a little while before looking up with a small smile. “You like my Seulbear, don’t you?”

Joohyun nearly chokes on her drink she’s surprised by the question. How does Irene know that she still has a thing for Seulgi? Joohyun thought she was doing a good job of hiding it. Damn, there’s no getting passed Irene who is actually very observant when she pretends to not be.

“Um…”

“It’s okay, Hyun. I get it. Seul is nice, sweet, y, and really a wonderful girlfriend. I know you like her.”

“You’re not angry?” Joohyun whispers. She doesn’t know how Irene isn’t angry about this. She has seen firsthand the kind of jealousy Irene displays when women flirt with her Seulgi. What makes this any different?

“No, see you’re my best friend. I have this thought, actually. What do you think about being in a poly relationship with us, joining Seul and I?”

“Huh?” Is all Joohyun can say with wide eyes. Of all things she could have heard from Irene’s mouth this is certainly not one of them. For one thing, Joohyun never thought she would be in a poly anything, and especially not with her best friend and best friend’s girlfriend that she has feelings for. Irene sips her tea again.

“Well, more like we share Seul. But it’ll still work with the three of us aware of what’s going on with one another. I know you like her, and she likes you too.”

“S-She does?”

Joohyun didn’t know that Seulgi likes her too. Well, this is certainly interesting although a bit inappropriate, no? Irene is sitting her talking like she’s fine with this poly relationship and that she doesn’t mind sharing her girlfriend. Joohyun knows for a fact Irene isn’t one to share the woman she loves, not that Joohyun would blame her. If Seulgi were her girlfriend she surely wouldn’t want to be sharing Seulgi either. What the hell is going on?

“Irene, why are you suggesting this?”

Irene shrugs. “I love Seul and I love you too as my best friend. It’s not really so farfetched to think about. The three of us have known each other forever and we are really close. Just think about it okay? I’m not saying you need to get back to me right this minute. Just don’t pretend that you don’t want Seul. I know you do.” Irene smiles and nudges her best friend. The bespectacled woman can’t deny that she doesn’t like Kang Seulgi or is really very attracted to her. However, that aside can she really enter this arrangement with the two of them? Can this truly work out?

“Irene, does Seul know about your suggestion?”

“Of course. We tell one another everything. I was the one who suggested it to her in the first place. You can ask her yourself if you want. She was a little worried too at first, but I made sure she knows it’ll work out well. Plus, it’s not like she can’t handle the both of us, if you know what I mean.” Irene says in a not so subtle manner. Joohyun feels her face get red right away. Well, leave it to Irene to not be subtle at all and tell her all sorts of things.

“Y-Yeah, Rene. I think I get the picture.”

“Yeah, so think about it like I said. I really do think it will be very interesting, Hyun. Would you feel better if you talk to Seul as well?”

“I...maybe?”

“Want me to call her, or do you want to?” Irene gestures to Joohyun’s phone because it’s not like the dark-haired woman doesn’t have Seulgi’s number. Joohyun nervously thinks about it. Should she call Seulgi to ask this very odd question for confirmation. Irene sees she’s nervous and it’s why she offers help in the form of calling Seulgi. Irene hits the name on her phone and waits.

“Hi, baby.” Irene says into the phone when she hears Seulgi answering. The brunette looks over to Joohyun.

“Yeah, I just told her and she’s nervous about it, I think. Would you want to talk to her and make her feel better?”

The next thing Joohyun knows Irene is handing her the phone, so she can talk to Seulgi. If Joohyun wasn’t nervous before then she is sure as hell nervous now. Irene is passing her the phone and Joohyun is sitting there at a loss of what to do.

“Hyun, why don’t you talk to our girlfriend?”

A/N: Yes, my brain is a mess that is responsible for this very new plot and I of course in my troublemaker state had to go on ahead and start a new damn fic because that’s just what I do apparently lol.
