“Hanbin-ah, when will you ever write me a song?”

“Byeol-ah, why are you always asking me to write you one, you’re being ridiculous.” He said almost sarcastically.

“I mean, you’ve written numerous songs, you’ve composed random ones where you got inspiration from street signs or roads or cars or leaves or chairs. Insubstantial objects. Surely, you can write one for me, I mean something to you right?” She said jokingly but deep down she knew she meant every word.

“Byeol-ah, what are you even saying?” He said smilingly. “You know I only write songs out of imagination and things that other people feel, I don’t have any of those thoughts.” He looks away and back into the computer with his fingers on his lips and palm on his chin going back into work.

He looked away too early that he missed the sadness in her eyes.

“You’re right, I guess it’s a privilege to not have a single song written about me by my best friend coz that means I’m not a insubstantial thing to you.” Byeol said in the best happy tone she can muster up but she knows she’s not convincing enough, even for herself. She’s used to this, why does she get upset over and over again. She always wondered why he wouldn’t write her a song, when that’s what he does best. With every turned down request came a tremendous pinch to the heart. *he will never be able to do something like this for me*

Hanbin knew that she got hurt but as always he never has the courage to turn back to her and make her feel better, he simply couldn’t. He can’t promise her anything. So instead of paying attention to it he chooses to simply ignore it to ease the guilt he felt.

Byeol’s phone dings and she reaches out to read it, she was relieved to have something break the mood she was currently in.

“Oh I should go, Jay-ah’s looking for me. I’ll talk to you later. Bye~”

Barely even looking at her, he gave her a slight wave of the fingers goodbye and went straight back to work, she noticed this and if she couldn’t be anymore hurt, she would probably be tearing up by now. She brushed it off like she normally does and walked away grabbing her bag on the way leaving Hanbin on his work chair by himself.

“Bestfriend....Byeol-ah...” He repeats as he smirks sadly to himself and started writing.
