Siren

Siren’s are a rarity now. 

Most of the others had been hunted off. 

It doesn't help that gunpowder was invented.

Still, some sing knowing the dangers. 

That's how Yixing stumbles across Chen.

Siren's songs aren't supposed to affect their own kind, 

'The Gods lied,' Yixing thinks as he swims closer towards the hypnotic singing voice. 

The chapters coincide with the years in which they take place.

Chapter 3: So he originally loved Persephone? Weird to imagine her w someone other than hades. Unless...lay = hades??? I thought he was the lead sheep of China smh.
(Also, the “main” sentence was hard to read because the word when was used as a connector three times in a row. Idk if this was intentional and you were trying to do something by it, but as a reader it just made the sentence very hard to digest and understand.)
Overall though I thought this was a cool concept. I’m a fan of writing and reading microfiction so that was a plus for me. Now to check if you have other stories hehehe
