One - Prank & Secrets

Kiss 'N Never Tell

It was time for another prank Lisa thought as she paced in her room. Last week the boys got them with a package prank and Lisa wasn’t all happy about it because she was waiting for a package herself. By the time the girls went in and opened the package in the living room, an exploding dye package blew up on their faces. On the side of the package was an attached note that said it was a celebration for their song entitled “Ddu Du Ddu Du”. It took hours for the girls to clean the entire mess up. It was their free time and they were supposed to have that time for themselves, but instead they’ve used it up to clean the living room. Now Lisa wanted to get back at them with another great prank of her own.

Lisa was hyped to tell her Unnies about her prank, however when she looked at the clock it was just 6 am in the morning. Nobody was awake at that time of hour Lisa thought; she was the only one awake. This was how worked up she was about the prank from the boys, but also she couldn’t sleep last night because she watched a scary movie. A scary movie in a time of the night was a decision that wasn't thought through, in the end she was up all night. “Maybe I should just cook for my Unnies?” Lisa said to herself. She was already awake and had nothing else to do for the time being, so might as well do something for her Unnies. As Lisa got out of her room, she saw Jisoo entering their dorm while wearing a big black hoodie. “Unnie!” Lisa said out loud. Jisoo was startled by Lisa’s loud voice and was taken aback as her heart jumped.

“Lisa-yah” Jisoo hissed quietly as she closed the door behind her. “You scared the wits out of me.” As Jisoo removed her shoes and placed it in their shoe rack, she asked. “Why are you awake this early in the morning Lisa-yah?” Jisoo liked to call her dongsaengs with cute nicknames but as Lisa noticed she was only being called Lisa and not with the nicknames her Unnie had given her. Also, she wondered if her Unnie owned any big black hoodie because this was first time seeing this one, but the thought got interrupted by another thought.

“Unnie, what were you doing outside this early in the morning?” Lisa answered her back with a question. Jisoo seemed to straighten up a bit and let out a little cough. Inside the pocket of her hoodie she brought out a plastic bag of cough medicine. Lisa looked at her Unnie and felt her forehead. “Are you sick Unnie?” Lisa asked anxiously.

“No I’m not sick. I just have a cough that’s all. We ran out of medicine so I bought some.” Jisoo said as she puts down Lisa’s hand from her forehead and then smiles at Lisa like she did nothing wrong and headed to the kitchen leaving Lisa behind. But Lisa wasn’t having it so she followed her Unnie to the kitchen.

“But Unnie, we’re not allowed to go outside unsupervised or without giving a report.” Lisa said with a mixture of worry and a little bit of anger in her voice. Jisoo was drinking a bottle of water from the refrigerator along with the medicine she had bought. “The sun hasn’t nearly risen up yet, what if something could’ve happened to you Unnie. I don’t like it when you go alone outside, especially when it’s dark.” The sun had risen up when Jisoo looked through the window as she drank her water. After drinking, Jisoo looked at Lisa and she could see the worried looked on her face and dark circles under her eyes. Lisa may be the maknae of the group and Jisoo might be the oldest but it’s the other way around when it comes to their personalities. Lisa liked taking care of things, and one of those things was Jisoo.

“Sorry Lisa-yah, I’m sorry. I should’ve asked someone to go with me outside. I wasn’t thinking clearly, I’m really sorry.” Jisoo said to Lisa with a sad smile. “I won’t do it again.” Lisa felt her Unnie was really sorry and she accepted it. “But how come you have dark circles under your eyes Lisa-yah?” Jisoo asked as she took a seat and rested her arms on the table and with that the subject got changed quickly.

“Unnie, I couldn’t sleep because I watched a scary movie last night.” Lisa said with a sad face. “Whenever I closed my eyes I kept seeing the ghost in the movie.” Then Lisa made a scary face imitating the ghost in the scary movie that she watched which made her Unnie laugh.

Jisoo took out her phone and tapped on the camera icon. “Lisa-yah” Jisoo laughed. “Do it again. Do the face again one more time.” Jisoo said while laughing. “I want to take a picture of it.” Jisoo couldn’t keep holding her phone straight and the camera wasn’t focusing because she was still caught up on Lisa’s funny face.

“What’s happening in here?” Jisoo and Lisa turned around to see who spoke, and they were greeted by Jennie’s morning face.

“Jendeukie-yah!” Jisoo said. “Come here and take a look at Nallalisa’s face.” Jisoo laughed as she waved at Jennie to come over to her. Jennie stepped forward still rubbing her eye.

“Unnie, why are you up this early in the morning?” Jennie asked as she went over and took a seat beside her Unnie. Jisoo straightened up a bit like she did when Lisa asked earlier. Jennie was tying her hair which Jisoo saw as a perfect opportunity to look at Lisa and slightly shook her head sideways, telling her to not tell Jennie what she did and where she went. Lisa understood and kept quiet.

“I was thirsty Jendeukie.” Jisoo said as she smiled. One thing to know about Jisoo was that she was never a morning person and hated waking up early. Jennie didn’t ask anything after that because the big black hoodie that Jisoo was wearing caught her attention but didn’t say anything about it. Lisa hid a little smile from Jennie as Jisoo winked at her. It made Lisa happy knowing that she and her Jisoo Unnie have their own little secret. “Anyways, I’m still sleepy and I’m going back to sleep.” Jisoo said as she was about to stand up but then Lisa stopped her by holding onto her arm.

“Wait, Jisoo Unnie! Jennie Unnie! I have the perfect idea for our next prank!” Lisa said enthusiastically to her Unnies. Jennie’s face lit up like kid receiving a candy. Jennie loved pranks though it may not show in her image, but she and Hanbin were the first ones who started playing pranks on each other until the other members joined.

“Ah, count me out on this prank Lisa-yah.” Jisoo said for she didn’t want to join on this time’s prank. Jennie and Lisa looked at Jisoo, but she followed it with an explanation before they could even ask why. “Because I’ am going to sleep.” Jisoo simply said while she smiled and played with Jennie’s hair.

“But Unnie!” Lisa whined with a pleading look on her face. “You were so great on our last prank. You’ve really set up the mood. We even got the boys believing that it was real.” Jennie was now too sharing an equal facial expression with Lisa as she tried looking at her Unnie, though it was quite difficult because Jisoo was playing with her hair.

Jisoo thought about it, and yes, their prank last time was the greatest. By far the greatest prank Jisoo thought, but her dongsaengs will never know and they can never know why. “Yeah, that prank was fun.”

“You see Unnie!” Jennie said with glee. “It was so fun! I could never really forget the look on those boys faces when we saw them on the last monthly meeting.” Jennie was closed-eyed smiling as she remembered the boys annoyed faces at the monthly meeting which Sajangnim implemented in the company.

“It was Jendeukie, and now I’ am going to sleep.” Jisoo said as she stood up from her seat leaving Jennie and Lisa. “Goodnight Jendeukie. Goodnight Nallalisa.”

“Unnie!” Both Lisa and Jennie called out but Jisoo had already disappeared from their sight. Jisoo made way to her room. And as she closed her door, she leaned on it, covered and let out a muffled screamed of joy. A scream Jisoo thought nobody would hear, however when Chaeyoung walked by she heard a similar noise, but thought it was just in her head and continued walking to the kitchen where she smelled food.

On the other side of the door Jisoo froze when she heard the footstep, her eyes flew wide opened and she ran straight to her bed hoping nobody heard her. She covered herself with a blanket and took out her phone. Her face lit up when she saw a text message on the screen. The smile grew even wider on her face when she saw who texted her the message.

Jisoo was happy all the way when she got home, although a little worried that she would get caught, but still what she did made her happy. She had been very careful and bought cough medicine as her alibi, although she really did have a cough. Her plan was to get in as quietly as possible so no one would hear her, but fate somehow manages to sidetrack her plans when Lisa scared the crap out of her when she entered the door. She didn’t want Lisa to ask any questions about why she had a big smile on her face so she had to act. Acting saved Jisoo because she had experience on it. And as far as Jisoo knew, Lisa and Jennie didn’t notice anything suspicious if she just continued to act like herself and not a completely love struck person.

It was hard for Jisoo to keep all of her feelings inside because she wanted to tell them everything. But they weren’t allowed to date yet; Sajangnim said that dating was strictly prohibited. So she has to keep this all to herself and not burden her dongsaengs of the problem she’s creating. A problem it may seem to other people’s eyes but to Jisoo it was something new for her and she was done hiding from her own feelings anymore.

It started even before BLACKPINK debuted. It was late and Jisoo was the only one left in the practice room cleaning up her things. Jennie and the other girl already went out to wait for her in the entrance. Jisoo closed the lights in the room and locked the door. She may have been the only left but when she looked at the last door on the right, the light was still on. She went to look and see who was still in that practice room. When she took a peek she saw no one was there, but just a bag and two bottles of water in the middle of the room. The music was still on, she could tell as she felt the rhythm vibrate on the glass door. Jisoo stepped back and had no intentions of going in. Encountering a ghost wasn’t in her bucket list. As she turned around she twisted her ankle and had no way to go but fall down on the floor. Twisting her ankle happened a lot, and she wasn’t all that surprised that it happened when she wanted to run away from the room.  She just closed her eyes and waited for her body and the floor to reunite. But to her surprise somebody caught her, and when she opened her eyes it was him. He looked confused and was about to say something when she quickly broke off from the embrace of his arms and stood straight in front of him. Jisoo thanked him with a bow and ran away like a mouse from a cat.

There was something that Jisoo felt but she didn’t know what it was. Instead, she just brushed it off as a funny feeling whenever she saw him after that incident. But as time passed by she couldn’t stop thinking about him. And in every monthly meeting she couldn’t help but to stare at him. Her brain be like: What am I doing? Why am I staring at him? I should stop staring at him. He’ll start to notice if I continue. What should I do? I can’t stop staring. And every time when he’d talk to Jisoo, she couldn’t quite keep eye contact with him and this went on in every monthly meeting. And then a sudden realization of what that funny feeling was hit Jisoo like a rock. She liked him; she liked him a lot and it was also that time when she wondered if he ever liked her too.

And by the grace of a thousand stars, their feelings aligned like the stars in the sky.

Jisoo opened her eyes when another text message popped in her phone’s screen. She opened it and read what it said.

Sorry if I couldn’t walk you all the way to your door. I really wanted to. I wish we wouldn’t have to hide like this because I miss you and I want to see you again already.

Don’t forget to drink your medicine. You have to stay healthy so you won’t get sick anymore.

I’ll let you sleep now. Sweet Dreams My Chichu. Saranghae <3

Jisoo smiled and replied.

Saranghae <3

As Jisoo read his messages again, she couldn’t help but believe that such happiness could exist. Her mind couldn’t possibly believe that it was real, that she wasn’t just dreaming any of it. She was lucky she thought, lucky enough that the guy she liked reciprocated her feelings. And all of it would never have happened if it wasn’t for that one prank that made everything possible for her and him. It was by far the greatest prank, she thought.

On the other part of the dorm, three girls were smiling as they looked at each other. “If it’s a package they sent, it’s a package they’ll get.” Lisa said with a smug look on her face. Jennie and Chaeyoung nodded in unison to what their maknae said as the smile grew wider on their faces.
