I was fine with the ending of the drama, which ended with Dong Mae's dying with a smile upon his lips, content that he had impacted Ae Shin's life; she said that the words he spoke had haunted her all of her life. He loved her until the end, and he died loving her, despite knowing that she never loved him at all.
In my fanfic, I have created an alternate ending; after all, what are fanfics for, but to create your own happy ending out of such a sad, tragic story as the story of Gu Dong Mae? Hani deserves a happy ending, too, for all that selfless devotion and steadfast love for a man who had given his love to another woman.
Thank you for staying with me throughout my journey, and I hope to see you guys one day when the next great drama comes along.
